Frustrating!! Has potential though! WiFi disconnects frequently when connected to the dashcam, making watching video difficult. App not updated very often it seems! They need to get on top of this and fix it! It has potential but it doesn't seem like it's much of a priority. App itself doesn't look bad but whether it's a software or hardware issue it needs to be fixed! App tries to run on the phone all the time!

Using a pixel 4 phone. This load of rubbish won't connect or install new firmware. When live view is selected it crashes. Will be taking it back to the dealership tomorrow. Absolutely usless.

Would rate it zero if I could! It was so bad that not even the dealership technical staff could make it work & they ended up removing the utr itself & paying for a dashcam from Halfords to be installed! Absolutely diabolical bit of kit & a real fail from. VW/Audi.

If you're considering installing the Audi UTR, don't waste your money. As a basic dash cam, its OK. Resolution is good and it has all the usual features. But for £450, it's not worth it. The app struggles to connect - I've yet to successfully connect first time. I've no idea what half the settings are as the manual is sparse and it comes with a tiny 8gb SD card, which will record 15-20 mins at most. This is some OEM camera they've badged and you'd be far better off looking elsewhere.

since update, big improvement. you can now view video in phone gallery, this in turn creates a folder with the video file in it, which means you can now share it very easy to different places, via email, whatsapp etc. reason for only 3 stars at the moment, is because if you own the Rear view this still has the same problem, you can only see Rear view recording from in the app itself. the reason is the recordings are done within the same file and split into two channels. 5 stars if this is fixed.

To be honest, this “Audi UTR” app is a complete disappointment… Particularly in comparison with high-class ergonomics if Audi cars, it is a complete antipode. What I would mention as significant drawbacks: - it is impossible to switch to landscape layout and thus you can see only very small playback window with no chance to see any details; - no possibility to rewind or select particular playback time; - GPS speed readings on the video are late by several seconds (!!!) - video encoding quality is much worse than in traffic recorders in the same price range (it is not app problem but rather firmware of the device): despite it is FulHD often it is impossible to read any license plate on the recording unless the object is very close; - video is recorded as a 2-stream video (front and rear), it is not a problem but I would rather prefer separate files instead; - app interface in general is quite ugly.

This app should be available for a Mac or PC. If I'd known the long winded way you have to download video clips, I wouldn't have had the Audi cameras installed. It also eats batteries. In this guise I wouldn't recommend the cameras or the app. I have found that you can watch the videos using the free programme VLC. Each file has two tracks, one for the forward view and one for the rear. To watch the rear, I had to start the front view (default) pause the video, go to "Video" on the VLC menu click on "Track" and choose "Track 2", then press play again. A new pane holding the rear camera clip then opened and played. So far I can only save the clips from Track 1 of the file. To save Track 2, I have to use a video capture programme.

The worse app ever! It has been 2 years and I'm still trying to make this "sophisticated app" work after lost-counted reinstallation and visiting the dealer multi-times. All I got from this app is showing "Connection Error". Absolutely nothing but frustration! Whoever designed this junk, please re-do your qualification and come back to fix it!

This app crashes EVERY SINGLE TIME I use it, it's just abysmal, and if I could give it no stars, I would do. Getting a video to play takes forever, and I have not yet managed to view a video from the rear camera on my phone. My car has a perfectly good touch screen, why on earth can't Audi fix up ability to view dashcam footage on that instead of this garbage app?. I've given up with it, I just take out the SD card and view on my pc with VLC, not convenient but way better than this app.
