Reviews

Stopped working months ago using Note4 on Nexus Player. Nexus Player OTA update to Android 'O' and still not working... Connects then back to connect to device screen with no error message. Lots of people reporting this so if yours works then good for you. Only needed when I typing on certain apps. I have an idea this will never be fixed. I love my Nexus Player, guess it will be relegated to an older TV when I get Nvidia shield TV.

Works well for me. I haven't had any connection issues using this over wi-fi. I can wake my shield TV with it, it gives me access to a touchscreen keyboard and I can control the volume on our bravia tv using the hardware volume buttons on the phone. The swipe touchpad option for control is a lot easier for when you are controlling the TV without looking at the phone too. Couldn't ask for more.

It hardly keeps a stable connection between a Samsung S7 Edge and an Nvidia Shield TV 2017 through Bluetooth. If I leave the phone locked, I have to either restart this app or turn the Bluetooth on and off. The keyboard typing also lags between the phone and the Shield. It would be easier to set up a connection if we could manually input the IP address of the device we want to connect with this app.

It's a great convenience - if it stops trying to be too smart in input. The Android TV default keyboard does not work with hardware keyboards, and now this app fails to work with smarter software keyboards (like HTC's default TouchPal)... Stop doing "a Microsoft"! (i.e. good/great product, retards for UI/UX guys)

....but it definitely needs to register touch a whole lot faster. All in all, a decent option if you can't find your Nexus Player remote, but it lacks the responsiveness to replace said remote. Update - App no longer works. Sees my devices (Shield TV & Nexus Player), but is no longer able to connect to them.

Its terrible. It only connects to the android TV 1/3 of the time and it takes several tries. It creates a persistent notification when you try to close it. Its literally impossible to use the keyboard. I'm trying to edit text in the TinyCamPro app. I can backspace on the android TV app and it deletes text on my TV. Then I type something on the android remote app and nothing gets typed on my TV. I wish I could give it zero stars.

I can control the Android option of my Sony Bravia Android TV well. It was fun to search content with voice. However, no tv switch and no volume up-down button. Also can't switch to TV option and hence no channel up-down. Please add TV switch, channel up-down and volume change option. Then this app will be a nice thing to really use as a remote controller.

Didn't have the voice remote for my Sony Bravia, so found this app so I could control the TV with my voice. Installed it and it worked great first day. On subsequent days, I could never get it to connect with the television, and sometimes couldn't even find the television. Both are on the same Wi-Fi network as instructed. Kind of a waste of time in my opinion.

So my POS Nexus player updated to 8.0 and I can't connect to a new WiFi network because the POS Nexus player is not smart enough to have a built in keyboard and says finish on mobile device to enter password. The problem is your POS Nexus remote app, much like your POS Nexus player doesn't work. I bring the keyboard up and type but nothing comes up in the screen. My phone is in Oreo like the POS Nexus player. Classic... Update your POS app to work with the latest operating system. iOS is no longer supported either. My POS Nexus player is now useless because I can't type in a GD password.

Keyboard function doesn't work and Google TV remote won't allow you to type in manually anymore. Now I can't log in to a wifi network... What wrong with this picture? everything... Not too smart, Google...not too smart. Of course unless your intention is to kill off all functioning Nexus TVs from your consumers...

When I started using it with my Mi Box Android TV, it was super good. But after a few months it doesn't recognize my mi box anymore. It occasionally does and works but not most of the times. The problem is not just on the Samsung j5 that used to work really well. Same with Huawei Honor Pro 8. The app tries connecting to the Mi Box and it goes on forever. Any help is much appreciated.

Well, awesome! So now I can change the input and scroll around the menu of my tv via bluetooth? Great! Touchpad works perfectly (S8, Bluetooth, ~2.5m away from tv). Only to realize I can't even control the volume since there's no option. Bummer. Semi-useless. And I have to give location access for it? Ok, ok, thanks Google, but I'll pass this one. Later.

If you are using a Tplink router, you would have issues with this app. If your router has an update, update the firmware on it. Tplink issued an update for certain routers to fix the connection problem with Android devices. This app started working well after I updated my router firmware. In case if it still doesn't work, try another router or factory reset the Android TV or enable Bluetooth on your mobile device.

Another half hearted attempt. I'm growing tired of google starting projects and then abandoning them! I have several tv devices, all barely supported. Nexus tv, 3 versions of chromecast, and mii tv. All require a reboot or restore on every use + the app or my phone. !HELL i may as well restart everything in the house while I'm at it. Roku supports everything, and their hardware does not crash. (At least the box does not, can't speak for the stick) Buy the roku!

For Sony Bravia Android TV owners... The Sony TV Sideview app is much much better than this. Has voice input, on/off functionality, and channel up/down actions etc... None of which this app can do! Also no adaptive icons and Android 8 support Google, really!?

I don't get how this app is complete garbage. It has been from when I bought the Nexus player and still is with my mii box. Never wants to connect. In app keyboard almost never works. I love Android TV but Google doesn't put in any effort at all. I guess I will just go to Roku only one with all the apps and there smartphone app works.

Look, it works but lacks key functionality like changing the volume or even shutting off the tv. I'll have to stick to my IR blaster remote (app) even though this one works much more reliable...

some apps on my TV say to use the android remote on my phone for the keyboard to sign in but the keyboard on this app doesn't work. Its there and what I type shows on my phone but nothing happens on the TV. I can't watch the NHL games I pay for on my TV because of the issue. Other than that its nothing special, just a D-pad.

This app was rushed and is not useful. First problem it has is that it doesn't consistently connect to devices. Everyone in my family downloaded this to include iPhones. All of us have different phones and this is a pain to connect to the TV. Second biggest issue it has, it is to simplistic. It does not give you all the buttons you need to adequately control the TV. At a minimum there should have been the Discover button, input button, volume buttons and a settings button to get to the TV's settings. This app has a long way to go before becoming useful. You know it's bad when it it has so many bad reviews and it has not been updated in over a year. Going to uninstall till it is vastly improved.

100% useless. I tried to use it to give me a keyboard entry for my Sony Android tv. Only thing you can enter is characters. No letter. And the touchpad is so bad it's laughable. I cannot believe Google released an app that is so unbelievably bad
