requires following permissions on your android device.

approximate location (network-based)
Allows the app to get your approximate location. This location is derived by location services using network location sources such as cell towers and Wi-Fi. These location services must be turned on and available to your device for the app to use them. Apps may use this to determine approximately where you are.

view network connections
Allows the app to view information about network connections such as which networks exist and are connected.

view Wi-Fi connections
Allows the app to view information about Wi-Fi networking, such as whether Wi-Fi is enabled and name of connected Wi-Fi devices.

connect and disconnect from Wi-Fi
Allows the app to connect to and disconnect from Wi-Fi access points and to make changes to device configuration for Wi-Fi networks.

full network access
Allows the app to create network sockets and use custom network protocols. The browser and other applications provide means to send data to the internet, so this permission is not required to send data to the internet.

prevent phone from sleeping
Allows the app to prevent the phone from going to sleep.

modify or delete the contents of your SD card
Allows the app to write to the SD card.

Great app, but it doesn't remember I paid for it. I have to launch it from the Google Play Store app list in order for the app to remember that I have paid for the ad free version. If I launch from the native app on my phone, BAM, ads and offers to remove ads by paying for the ad free version. I would have given 5 stars, and still will, if this bug is fixed.

windows This has been my go-to wifi analyzer for many years, but looks like it hasn't been updated since 2018. So under Android 10, it doesn't work and shows a blank screen... unless you go into App Permissions to approve location and storage. It is obvious that the author has abandoned this app, since the banner ad on the bottom is not even working anymore, which may be a plus for the users. Otherwise the app is very functional. Kinda of like Picasa, once these apps were the best in their categories, but still very good and usable, even though they have been abandoned for years. Pretty sad, really... If the author sees this comment, I encourage you to make it open source and post it on github, so others can help to maintain it.

ios This does not work on Android 10 correctly. I found how to get it working on posts here in the rating section. Thank you to those who have advised. I've loved this app for years. It's a little complicated for some to get working, but when working it's a great tool. I'm not giving it a full 5 stars as it really needs updating to work without fuss

app Found the problem why it wasn't scanning properly, and how to fix it. Part 1 has been mentioned here before, make sure you go into permissions and turn on storage and location. Part 2 is more tricky. Newer versions of Android now limit how much an app can scan wifi in the background, which is bad for an app like this. What you need to do is enable Developer Options and turn off "Wi-Fi Scan throttling" and the app will behave like it used to! Google how to enter Developer Options for your phone

mac Important: to get it to work on Android 10 you need to manually give it Location and Storage permissions in Android's App Settings. Only 4 stars since not updated any more. But great app. Thanks for the previous reviewers who helped with the permissions issue.

windows kostenlos Before last update I was able to see all 4 of my devices but now I can only 1 device (my phone, duuhh, mo brainer). Since you screwed this function up what's the purpose of the app other than to take up space. You should try a different because your as hell not any good at this one. NOTE: I had been using this app for around 10 years now I'm deleting it and will identify as SPAM!

ios kostenlos Certainly does help me in figuring out the overall performance of my system. Shows me exactly where the signal is strongest with it's cool looking detector screen and graphs it displays giving me a visual perspective of my wifi and modems output and input.

  8. Apples-avatar

online Simply doesn't work. Shows no wifi in range. No errors indicated. No instructions how to setup if required. I'm sure it eventually works with some weird work around but with a million other apps out there it's faster to download a new one, forever remembering this app doesn't work.

  9. John Fitzgerald-avatar

download was the best, now its useless Since last android update this app is useless, trued to contact creator, no reply. Update 8/18/20 after trying every other wifi analyzer app, I came back to this one and tried it again on my replacement Galaxy s8+ , it still didn't work, but I did notice a review from another user who said to enable location access permissions and then turn on developer mode and do something with wifi throttling, I got as far as turning on developer mode & the app now works great!

apk My good ol go to wifi app, even though farproc hasn't been active for a couple of years its still decent. Android 10, you have to enable the app permissions manually and it works. Still a full feature app..

I have used this app for YEARS- It was a very good app, could always count on it keeping me connected, but now something major has changed, it keeps crashing, when i DONT want to enter my location- NOT GOOD-Unfortuanately, I have to Uninstall

I use this tool all of the time to identify congested channels. It's a must-have tool when helping others to fix wifi problems. I can't believe there isn't something similar for iOS! The multiple visualizations give me a good sense as I walk around, rather than an app that tells me "this is the best channel" since the best channel can change based on the surges of signals from other sources. This tool is perfect for what I need.

  13. PickPlacer1-avatar

This app badly needs updating. Not fully Android 10 compatible especially if you are using Galaxy 9. I managed to get the main page containing the graph, etc. The problem is that on the tools section and selected LAN Neighbours to get details on other devices connected to my network, there is a blank list. In the end I've to install Port Authority, this app is great as a substitute. Please, please, please, it's long overdue for a update.

I like this app for its versatility, but also for the snapshot feature which is great for looking at the data back in the office. My only complaint is that the snapshot export data doesnt format as nicely as it does in the app. it would be more useful if the .csv downloaded with data tabs breaking down the information into useful categories

::::::: Includes Fix for operating in Android V9, V10:::::: I love this app, and have used it for years. Recently however I found that on my new device (v9) that it wouldn't detect networks, however older Android versions worked. I note that the version has not been updated since 2018, however this is not really relevant to operation. You need to go into "Location/App Level Permissions/Location Permissions" and toggle WiFi Analyzer to "ON" for the app to work and detect wireless networks.

Really disappointed since they updated & made it where that require your location. There's no reason they need to have those privacy settings when they did just fine without it. I deleted the app, it's to suspicious that now they need your location.

5/14/20 **Update-One of 2 phones Updated to Android 9 early in April. Now v#3.11.1L Classic requires Location BUT even with it on DOES NOT WORK AT ALL! Can't see why v#3.11.2 needs to have location info to work! Have 2nd exactly same phone using v#3.11.1L ,which does Not Require location to work, both on Android 8. Like the program, have used for a few years, but Don't like having location info disclosed when I don't want it to be!

Had same exact issue as Ron Gaillot. Works fine on my S10+ phone and my Tab S2 tablet, but blank screen on my new Tab S5e tablet. Same after a few times delete/reinstall. Fixed by going to app's permissions via search of "apps" in settings, scrolling (or searching) to "Wifi Analyzer", selecting that, then clicking its permissions. Then turned on both location and storage. Now works just fine! Was so glad to get my favorite wifi app again on my new Tab S5e.

I'm constantly suggesting this application to my clients. This app works, it's easy to use, and it doesn't have a bunch of ads bother you every time you do something. Get it. It works. 5 stars.

  25. Elisa Corona-avatar

    Elisa Corona

Beyond requiring access to our location (new requirement from Google since Android 6.0), this app complains about screen overlay drawing, which I cannot deactivate because of other apps I used which depend on that. Fortunately the other (namely "Classic") version from this app is still available at PlayStore, and that one still works perfectly.

  26. Duke Briscoe-avatar

    Duke Briscoe

Useful for my casual usage. Today I noticed that it doesn't work if you don't allow the location permission. I assume this allows it to get higher revenue from its ad network. I think the storage permission hasn't been needed for my usage.

No longer works with Android 10. This app was by far the best wifi scanner out there, but it appears that development has stalled. No app updates since 2018. Sadly, it doesn't work with Android 10. If you're ok n Android 9 or older, it is still the best app. @dev, can you please make this app compatible with Android 10?

Great app to see the strength of the wifi networks in your neighborhood. I was having trouble with dropped wifi confections at home. I used this app and discovered that almost all the networks were on the same two wifi channels. I picked a less crowded channel, and fixed the problem. Great app.

  30. B T-avatar

Edit: this is an Android OS problem that requires unnecessary access in the pursuit of safety. I know that my location may be discerned by WIFI, but now my exact gps location is to be allowed because of a logic error from Google trying to stop unadvertant location. The new location requirement is unacceptable, uninstalled.

I have the paid version and it sucks. I have to re-enable the hide ads feature every week, the interface is outdated and it doesn't always register the wifi networks. There is an open source wifi analyzer that is way BETTER than this one and because it's open source it doesn't have ads.

  32. Alin Banc-avatar

the issue with the app not working is easy to fix, just grant Location permissions and the issue should be fixed.I agree that this should be prompt to the users while installing the app, so they don't need to go over the settings to get this working. Other than that, the app works great

This app did absolutely nothing. Read and followed other users suggestions from in the reviews. And still nothing. I sat right next to my router. Stood a few feet away. Went further. Went outside. Came back in. Did an interpretive dance. Still nothing. Tried an hour later. And presto!! Still nothing. Don't waste your time or space on your phone. If you're internet is weak, work harder. Pay for better service.

This was my go-to WiFi app, but it's not working on my new Samsung Galaxy S8 /Android 9 combo. Location is turned on. If it doesn't work on a phone/OS combo that's been around as long as mine, I don't see how I can give it better than a 1-star rating.

I prefer to run my apps from external memory (an SD card). This app worked on the SD card upon installation. But, the next day, I had a ghost app in the app tray with a message stating that WiFi Analyzer was not installed. I'm re-installing it today. If it does this again, I will discontinue use of the app. I've never had such a weird experience. It seems buggy.

Great app. My LG G4 kept dropping wifi at home. used this to find a better channel, and all dropout problems are solved. As an Android developer, I sympathise with the need to adhere to Google's permissions requirements (re location). It is depends on the version of the API the app targets and not the version of Android on your device. Google mandated a change in November 2018. I know, I went through the same pain myself. Please don't downrate the app because of this. It is not the dev's fault!

This app has been very useful. I use it basically any time I add WiFi devices to my home network. I was having problems with it not showing any WiFi information, but when I went to the app permissions in Android settings and enabled location data access, it solved the problem. If anyone else is having that issue. I would suggest checking into the app permissions.

  76. Eric Phelps-avatar

Used for years and it's still great. Despite all the complaining from other people about needing location info, that's a REQUIREMENT from Google for the newer phones (because if you have WiFi AP data, you know the users location). Nothing bad going on here! All WiFi apps that identify an access point on Oreo or newer need this permission. If you have an older phone and this bothers you, you can either revoke the permission or use the legacy version of the app that doesn't ask for location info. Only wish there was a paid version!

Omg!!! This WiFi Analyzer app works for real. It's better than the other one I've used. This app allow me to select which WiFi to use specifically. For example: Once you tap the band, channel or highlight Wi-Fi name you've logged in to use the internet connection, you pick or select that connection channel as your specific channel. It keeps your device from accidentally dropping like it's lost connection with the channel it's supposed to be connected with. Almost like a ant lost his scents of directions. On each page of the app screen, just highlight or select the Wi-Fi you already logged in to use when the option open up on your screen from this app. It's good that this app has the option to select the Wi-Fi you already logged in to use the internet connection. I was having internet dropping randomly and unstable internet connection from my brother's Verizon's 4G Wi-Fi signal next room. So I took a chance to try this app and it fixed my WiFi issues. I uninstalled the other so called Wi-Fi Analyzer pro app which I've paid for. This app fixed the real wifi issues without me fixing it. Thanks many times over. Keep up with the good work. Two thumbs up for your app.

Earlier versions had fantastic performance and live data, doesn't seem to "refresh" as well anymore. I used to use it for mapping strength in my WiFi installations as part of my work, it was so responsive and reliable. Now I can walk far away from a signal or even unplug an AP and the change isn't reflected on-screen for minutes. Other than that and based on previous performance, great app.

Sorry to say, this latest version 3.11 simply doesn't work on my new phone (OnePlus 6T). I get exactly zero data, no charts or graphs or ratings or anything. Yes, i have Location turned on in my phone, a dubious requirement. A different wi-fi analysis app works beautifully. I've used the FarProc app for many years, so i hate to let it go, but i must.

Excellent app that does its job extremely well. But, suggestion -- let users know (if possible) that if they get a new phone and the app doesn't work, all they need to do is allow location settings in the app to make it run again. I see (in the reviews) a TON of people who (like me) got a new phone and found that the app no longer works, but instead of investing time in fixing the problem, they (unlike me) just remove the app and give a 1-star rating. Lazy, and unfair to the developer.

Sadly, it no longer works. 😢. IMPORTANT - SEE UPDATE BELOW I've used this app for years and loved it. As others have said, It no longer picks up any Wi-Fi signals (with Location on). I'm sorry to see it go. UPDATE If it shows no wifi, go into Android Settings/Apps, find Wifi Analyzer and check its Permissions. Location access may be turned off. Mine was. Turn it ON and it works perfectly.

I was finding my wifi speeds too slow so I used this app to analyze both the 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz bands. I found 2.4 to be overloaded, but found some unused channels on 5Ghz. After adjusting my channels I am getting great speeds again. After installing this app I would get random Google play pop ups about once an hour. After uninstalling the ads went away. App developer: I'd be okay with an add popping up when I open the app, but not hourly. Uninstalled.

Almost didn't work anymore... Android 8, Moto Z2 Force. I've been using this for several years but haven't used it in a while, tried using it today but had no results. A while back I had disabled my GPS to save battery life, but when running the app, GPS is needed, but I didn't realize it, no warnings/messages to say anything about that. It would be nice though because I almost uninstalled this app when I thought it no longer worked. I'm glad I figured out the problem/GPS requirement!

This is a great app, and I've used it for years. Great for finding free channels. Android 6+ Users/People who dislike the location permission requirement: Like many of you, I had tried to use the app after a long time and many OS updates, and it didn't work. After seeing the discussion in the reviews, I tried another app, and it warned that the newer Android versions REQUIRE location permission to scan networks. This makes sense, as with a couple networks with known location and building layout, you could triangulate location. After long tapping Location in the quick actions tray, going to app permissions, and enabling location for the app, it's working great again. TL;DR: It's not the author's fault, it's a security change google made. If it's not working, enable location permissions for the app manually.

I've used this app across several phones and have found it invaluable when troubleshooting odd wifi problems. For Android P: As others have said, you need to specifically enable Location permissions for this app in system settings in order for this app to work. Also, with Android P: Google has set limits on the types of system calls this (and other apps of this type) perform in order to get access point information. This can cause issues with the app showing delayed or old data. The app, unfortunately, does not have a way around these limits. There are bug reports and feature requests with Google open to fix this problem.

Killed by Google! Thanks to Android Pie, this app has been rendered less useful. Foreground apps are limited to four scans every two minutes, so it's not possible to get a constantly-updating supply of information from this app or any others like it. See Android issue tracker entry 79906367 for more information. The app is able to bypass this restriction to a degree by using data from location permissions, but that's not as useful and upsets users. This app and many others are broken by Pie.

The older version worked fine without enabling my location. The new version won't work at all without having your location enabled. Once running it is great and told me what I needed to know - which was the best channel to set my router to. But getting it set up was very frustrating and reading other reviews was required to identify why it couldnt detect a signal although it declared it was connected to my router. App permissions need to be set to allowing location and I had to repeat this a couple of times before it would play ball.

Edit May, 20, 2019: You have omitted a very important information: you need to go to the app permissions settings and manually give the location access permission to this application; otherwise the app does not work. It's an Android Pie limitation, as scanning frequency also is, and I think it is very important to mention this in the app description. ///// Original, May, 19, 2019: I used to use this app on a Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 with no problems. It was a complete and intuitive app, supplying all the info I needed to analyse a wifi network. Running on Android 7.0 it was a five star app. Now I upgraded to a Xiaomi Mi 9 which has Android 9 installed. At the time of installation the app performed normally. But now it is unable to detect any network. It only reports "Connected to (unknown SSID)" and all graphics display empty. I found here several users complaining about app malfunction after upgrading to Android 9, so I think this is an app issue, not a device defect; all other alternative apps I tested worked correctly. Your app is a reference. Please consider reviewing this issue! I'll change rating then.

This is my favorite wifi analyzer. Simple and perfect. NOTE: It requires location to work, so if it's not working make sure you enable that permission. This is an Android OS privacy requirement because you can infer location from surrounding networks. I wish that wasn't the case, but it makes sense.

This app still rocks! When I upgraded to Android 10 I was a bit concerned because the app was acting erratically. I just learned that since Android 8 WiFi scanning has been throttled to improve battery life. Bad news normally. Good news is Android 10 has a toggle in Dev settings under networking for turning of WiFi scanning throttling. Turn it off and give this app the correct permissions and the app actually works better than ever! Super fast. Thank you guys.

My go to app for checking wifi signals. Only trick is you have to allow the app access to your location before it will work. No longer works on pixel 2 running Android 9. I realize this is not the developers fault, but rather restrictions imposed by the latest Android version. The makers of the OS (Google) should stop inflicting thier "protections" on every consumer without a way to turn such restrictions off, this amounts to bait and switch, and features removed. If I wanted a phone with less capability, specifically WiFi scanning, I should have stayed with Windows Phone.

This has always been a great little app. Very quick updating, unlike some others that take minutes. Lost faith with this in the new Android 9.1 update, then discovered you have to now SET the permission for Location to ON in the phone settings under Apps, Permissions, NOT just allow it in the app each time. Now it works perfectly again. Farproc, maybe you need to automate this when the app asks for location, or prompt it properly... Back on my home screen now

Does not work at all under Android 9 Pie, until you give it Location permission. Then it works very well, giving the user a superset of the various options offered by similar apps. There is no excuse for failing to beta-test the OS change, and notifying the user on first use that a required permission needs to be set. That's literally all the developer of a working app needs to do in the way of maintenance. Until it gets this necessary update, using this app is an exercise in frustration.

A List all AP's (with MAC addresses) and basic vendor info, plus security type (WPA, WPA2-TKIP, etc)? Yessir! There is one small ad that is not intrusive and does not go fullscreen. This is a classic app that has been salvageably bitten by "feature" in Android. To recover: In Android 9 "Pie": Settings; Aoos & Notifications; Wifi Analyzer; Permissions; turn them both on. Individual developers don't always have the time or awareness to go back and maintain things like this. But this app is still a gift!

  134. MARC RAGUSA-avatar

In Android 10 you can now disable wifi throttling which will allow utilities like this to continually update the wifi hotspots while scanning. Prior to this, android would shut down the scan after a few seconds to save power making this utility less useful. Tip: if nothing shows up, allow location and storage permissions or the app won't work—then simply revoke the permissions when you're not using the app so it can't collect any unnecessary data. Be warn - app requests, and will not start without location access granted. No explanations for this from the developers. I see no reason for a wifi scanner to have access to phones location, unless sending the results or any other data to the developers, or maybe even to a third party. Does work on Pixel Wouldn't find the wifi on my Pixel 3 XL at first. It did not ask for permissions even though others indicated it now needed them. Docked it a star for the workaround and a star for needing locatoon permissions. Otherwise, does a good job.
