I use this tool all of the time to identify congested channels. It's a must-have tool when helping others to fix wifi problems. I can't believe there isn't something similar for iOS! The multiple visualizations give me a good sense as I walk around, rather than an app that tells me "this is the best channel" since the best channel can change based on the surges of signals from other sources. This tool is perfect for what I need.

  2. Scot Morgan-avatar

I like this app for its versatility, but also for the snapshot feature which is great for looking at the data back in the office. My only complaint is that the snapshot export data doesnt format as nicely as it does in the app. it would be more useful if the .csv downloaded with data tabs breaking down the information into useful categories

  3. Adrian Hawke-avatar

::::::: Includes Fix for operating in Android V9, V10:::::: I love this app, and have used it for years. Recently however I found that on my new device (v9) that it wouldn't detect networks, however older Android versions worked. I note that the version has not been updated since 2018, however this is not really relevant to operation. You need to go into "Location/App Level Permissions/Location Permissions" and toggle WiFi Analyzer to "ON" for the app to work and detect wireless networks.

  4. Duke Briscoe-avatar

Useful for my casual usage. Today I noticed that it doesn't work if you don't allow the location permission. I assume this allows it to get higher revenue from its ad network. I think the storage permission hasn't been needed for my usage.

  5. Cliff G-avatar

My go to app for checking wifi signals. Only trick is you have to allow the app access to your location before it will work. Otherwise you just get "nothing yet ;" This appears to be causing everyone a problem. I never had to do this on my older phones. This one is Android 9 and it also appears to be the same on more recent versions.

  6. Derek Santomo-avatar

Use to be a great app. Haven't used it in years. Tried to use it to see how congested the Wi-Fi signals if they've changed in my area are. I open the app it does not show any signals. I tried to uninstall and reset it back up. Still no signs are displaying.

Well this particular WiFi Analyzer (farproc) app used to work great for me on an old smartphone that ran an old Android version (KitKat). But it hasn't been updated since April 2018 (nearly 2 years ago!) and it doesn't work at all for me on my.new smartphone that runs Android 9 Pie version. Had to use another app instead. 😡

  8. Clinton Cole-avatar

Stupid garbage app shows me the Xfinity hotspot with an arrow next to it to expand all of the other hot spots with the same name, yet won't let me connect to a specific hotspot in that list. I disconnect and select a specific Mac address and it still won't connect to that particular hotspot. Fix this steaming pile of garbage

Scans for wifi networks. Does a decent job for me but.... I ve installed the addon that lets you connect to discovered networks and doesn t work for hidden networks that it detects even if you enter the the correct password. Displays a "failed" error. Has a clean interface with samall ads banner at the bottom. usability, meh, not that great

  10. Blake Ross-avatar

This was my go-to WiFi app, but it's not working on my new Samsung Galaxy S8 /Android 9 combo. Location is turned on. If it doesn't work on a phone/OS combo that's been around as long as mine, I don't see how I can give it better than a 1-star rating.

  11. Rosanne H.-avatar

Can't see why v#3.11.2 needs to have location info to work! Have 2nd exactly same phone using v#3.11.1L ,which does Not Require location to work, both on Android 8. Like the program, have used for a few years, but Don't like having location info disclosed when I don't want it to be! *** Update 4/4/20 - one phone updated to Android 9 - Now on that phone v#3.11.1L Requires Location, But even with it on now program Not Work???!!!

  12. Brian Preston-avatar

Great except for Android 10. Worked great, used it all the time. Only gave me problems and stopped working once my phone upgraded to Android 10. I'm sure that will be patched in the future, this app is usually maintained pretty well, I've been using it for years and multiple versions of Android.

  13. Barry Walsh-avatar

I have always found this to be a good tool. I have version 3.11.1-L I have just updated to a Samsung S20 5G which I have set to 4G,3G,2G. This application no longer seems to be picking up any results to display even though I am currently connected to WiFi. I hope this issue is resolved shortly

  14. Ryan T-avatar

Used to be great but not updated in a long time and doesnt refresh signals properly anymore, will update for 10 secs if lucky and then nothing for over a minute and then another 10 seconds. Infuriating.

  15. Fluffy 100-avatar

Was a useful app but now doesn't work. Can't find any wifi despite my device being connected to one. Also requires access to my location..!!! - Not needed for this type of app and is another invasion of privacy which is not acceptable.....App uninstalled.

  16. M-avatar

This app sucks. It tells me my channel has a bad signal and suggests channels with a better signal. When I switch to that channel, the old channel shows as having a perfect signal and the new channel is now the bad one. It happens on both 2.4 and 5ghz and without fail. This app is completely useless. It doesn't actually do anything accurate apparently and I can't see the use for it.

  17. Gerhard Lesch-avatar

LAN neighbors not found! I've gave all the permissions required. Very clear signal graph with graphs that can be labelled. I've tried all the tricks I know about, but LAN neighbors stays "dead".

  18. Colby Redman-avatar

Good app. Lags a little at times but not terribly. Lost a few stars due to the app continously requesting location when closed. Not sure what may be causing this but even with the app fully closed I'm still getting alerts that it is trying to access my location. Hopefully this isn't by design.

  19. Martin E-avatar

It's a very good app and I have used it for many years on verious versions of Android upto 6.0 with no issues. But recently I have got a new phone with Android version 9 on it and it's not compatible anymore. Please update the application.

  20. Luis Vargas-avatar

I've used the app for years. After last update, app freezes after 10 seconds of operating. I have to restart phone or clear bgnd apps to kick it back to life.

  21. Scott Brooks-avatar

Almost didn't work anymore... Android 8, Moto Z2 Force. I've been using this for several years but haven't used it in a while, tried using it today but had no results. A while back I had disabled my GPS to save battery life, but when running the app, GPS is needed, but I didn't realize it, no warnings/messages to say anything about that. It would be nice though because I almost uninstalled this app when I thought it no longer worked. I'm glad I figured out the problem/GPS requirement!

  22. Maricell De Dios-avatar

    Maricell De Dios

Used to work fine. Been using this for like more than 3 years and when i was trying it now its unable to detect any wifi. Im literally connected to wifi actually. Not sure what's wrong. All settings checked. Sad. Gonna find other working app then.

  23. Dia Boyos-avatar

The person who said that location permission must be allowed for this app to work is correct. It doesn't need to be allowed "all the time" only "when the app is in use". This really needs to be specified somewhere so people know. I guess here it is.

  24. Noorul Haq Rashdi-avatar

    Noorul Haq Rashdi

Best app shows all aspects of a WiFi signal on its default settings - no need configure - best results so far, keep updating to add more functionality... Thanks!

  25. Jim Sines-avatar

You wanna see how crowded your WiFi channels are? This app does it, 2.4 and 5 GHz. Signal strength of multiple AP's? Yep, graph it too. A List all AP's (with MAC addresses) and basic vendor info, plus security type (WPA, WPA2-TKIP, etc)? Yessir! There is one small ad that is not intrusive and does not go fullscreen. It's a great app and if you like to scope out the spectrum to better configure your own WiFi, I recommend it.

  26. Michael Taylor-avatar

What happened to this app? I used it for years, now suddenly it will work for 10 seconds, then freeze and not work again until you force close it and restart. Then you get another 10 seconds. I have tried clearing cache and data, force closing, removing and reinstalling, all to no avail. Now I have to look for an alternative.

  27. Sophia-avatar

I've used this app before, really great! But now it says it didn't find any WiFi, eventhough I am connected to one. Seems to be a bug.

  28. Robert Rolf-avatar

Worked well in past versions. This version 4/20, doesn't show 5 gHz bands on Moto One so you're stuck in ch 46-52. Hate the OS BS requiring location access.

  29. Foo Bar-avatar

This is a copycat version of the open source version! The original one seems to even perform better and does it without ads...

  30. ScreemingDiva-avatar

Requires my location? Yet another way to suck information out of users. Gave it a go 18 months later. It can download adds but can't detect a network. Not good.

  31. Alfredo & Andrea-avatar

I have an Android phone with the latest software. App is not working and does not display anything. I downloaded a different Wi-Fi analyzer and that worked. I know this app works well because I had it 2 years ago, but it is not working at all now. Nothing is displayed, no ssid no nothing. I'll change my rating once this is fixed.

  32. MARC RAGUSA-avatar

In Android 10 you can now disable wifi throttling which will allow utilities like this to continually update the wifi hotspots while scanning. Prior to this, android would shut down the scan after a few seconds to save power making this utility less useful. TO DISABLE WIFI THROTTLING: Go to Settings, Developer Options and disable "Wi-Fi Scan Throttling" (about half way down the list).

  33. Silverton MY-avatar

I liked the interface, but it didn't detect any networks until I closed it several times (said something like 'Nothing yet'). Thought it was just an initial problem but when I opened it up today, again it kept losing all networks. I'm keeping an open mind and may install it later but for now, its unusable for me.

  34. Doug Ivison-avatar

Have used this every time I moved or changed routers, for about eight years. A GREAT tool to have. But now it's showing my 2G channel but not my 5G channel, so need a tip, or another app.

  35. Vishesh Koonjul-avatar

    Vishesh Koonjul

Used to work well on android 9.0 but after update to android 10, it fails to connect to a wifi even when location permissions are granted... Please fix this issue

  36. Kenny Wong-avatar

Used to be great, but recently it works slower and slower, takes forever to pick up the networks and slow to update the networks. It used to be super fast. But now all the adverts work(surprise, surprise) and I'm waiting 30secs for it to pick up any WiFi changes. Uninstalling.

  37. Steven Gates-avatar

(Update: It seems to take 4 to 6 seconds between samples. Faster updates would help find weak WiFi areas around the house. Failing that, maybe add a "REFRESH" button?) When I installed Wifi Analyzer, no WiFi signals showed at all. I checked my phone and yes, my WiFi was still turned on. On the Internet, I saw mention of granting permission to access location. Here is where that was in my phone —》SETTINGS》APPS》WIFI ANALYZER》PERMISSIONS》Enable LOCATION

  38. Alice Morland-avatar

Uninstalled. Only works if Location and Services are turned on all the time. Pixel 3 has Android 10, offering Location On while App is Open, yet App will not work.

  39. Derek Davison-avatar

My go-to Wi-Fi analyzer since I found it a couple years ago. I've passed it along to lots of people including my company's IT Network admin who used it to place our routers and find a lost one. ### TIPS ### If you're having trouble with it not working at all make sure all the permissions, especially location, are enabled. If you're having trouble with slow or intermittent scan intervals go to Settings > Apps > WiFi Analyzer > Force Stop. From there also go into Storage > Clear Cache

  40. James Rhode-avatar

Doesn't work with Samsung Galaxy S10E. Just upgraded from a Samsung Galaxy S6, and the app worked fine with that Phone. my Wi-Fi name doesn't even show up on in this app. Going to delete.

  41. Amnon Hoppe-avatar

In app commercials work fine, what I used the tool for before no longer does, regardless giving it location access. Does nothing anymore but show adds. Uninstalling now.

  42. Jerry Van Zant-avatar

Doesn't work on my tablet. While it is serving up ads using my wireless network, it is giving me the message "no wireless network in range"

  43. Lindsey Meadows-avatar

    Lindsey Meadows

Repeatedly told me there are no wifi signals nearby when I was connected to my wifi network. I went into the help section but was unable to figure out where to even begin to troubleshoot. This app was too much hassle for me to attempt to use and I have years of IT experience so I cannot imagine if I had no prior Intel of Android and routers.

  44. Michael Xavier-avatar

Rubbish app. Says it's connected to my network, while concurrently saying there are no networks in range.

  45. David Truong-avatar

No wifi signal when other apps did not have this problem. The ads worked great though. It's a shame because this was recommended by a blog.

  46. Haseeb Riaz-avatar

It used to be the best wifi analyzer app and now it doesn't even work. Kindly fix it, looking forward for the positive response.

  47. Phyllis Haberkamp-avatar

    Phyllis Haberkamp

My WiFi speed was 0. I used your app, did something, not sure what, but whatever I did it worked. I now have full download speed. Thank you.

  48. Dennis Carr-avatar

It doesn't work. No graphing at all. Doesn't think there's any wifi network in range, yet recognizes every device on my network.

  49. Kennedy McEwen-avatar

Doesn't work! The app says no wifi in range, even when the phone is only 1m from the router, yet still manages to download ads via wifi! Worse than useless.

  50. John Cerva-avatar

Used to be a very good app. Now it does about 4 or 5 scans and freezes.

  51. Dirty Sack-avatar

Used gps spoofing app just to ensure my privacy. This app works good, but because of google I won't give it 5 stars. If they remove the location access to scan wifi networks, I'll update. I know what the dev's and google will say "we dont collect any data regarding your location blah blah blah". If you dont then dont force us to have location on to scan wifi networks. We dont need to send location data to help you improve something that worked fine before.

  52. Kenny Wantoch-avatar

I have used this app for years as i am a home tech for Cox Communications....LOVED IT!! However, it has not received an update since Apr2018. I can see the SSIDs and strengths, but it stops scanning after a few seconds on both my Galaxy S9 and S10e. Needs an update. and it will be all good again.

  53. Howard Worf-avatar

Unfortunately the app locks on to my HP printer IP address, and not the router. I can't find any way to change it, so it doesn't help at all.

  54. Glen Paton-avatar

Fairly good app that I have been using for a few years. However, one quirk. Whenever selecting the best wifi channel and changing my router settings (as seen on the channel graph), the new selected channel becomes the worst in the wifi analyzer graph - very strange.

  55. T K-avatar

Used this app to determine my neighbor's wi-fi broadcast channels and see who was overlapping with mine to fix a constant wi-fi dropping issue. Opened the router settings and changed my 2.4G channel from 11 to 1 and the problem was solved.

  56. Pepijn van der Kroef-avatar

    Pepijn van der Kroef

Stopped working reliably (yes I have the correct permissions). It stops scanning at times and I have to kill and restart the app, and on 5ghz it shows all networks on the same bands no matter what settings I apply. Other app with the same name did immediately show the right info, so this one is out.

  57. Steven Leohr-avatar

This app works great, but if it doesn't detect any networks at all, just open settings, go to the app and enable location permissions. Location has to be on for the app to work. Android 9 requires the permissions to be manually set

  58. A Google user-avatar

Pretty good. I don't understand why it requires location permission though. Also, if it had a pause button right next to the view button, it would be very helpful, especially in the AP list view. Finally, have you developers considered charging for an ad-free version of the app?

  59. Keith Hubbard-avatar

Used to work on Note 8, not anymore. Does not seem to bind to the network interface.

  60. Philippe Sharboneaux-avatar

    Philippe Sharboneaux

Does not seem to work. I know that I have several Wi-Fi connections around me and none are showing.

  61. Chris Filippone-avatar

    Chris Filippone

I work in IT and decided to try this app out. It could only detect ONE SSID. Another free app detected SIXTEEN in the 2.4GHz range, And only 1 in the 5GHz range (I only found one as well.). Unfortunately, terrible app. Better luck next time, guys.

  62. Travis Williamson-avatar

    Travis Williamson

Used to work well. Does not work on my Sony Xperia XA1 ultra. It did work initially but now all pages just say "Nothing Yet" and no signals come up. Rather disappointing. I will change my rating if it ever works again on my new phone. Still works on my old Huawei p9.

  63. Kenn Hillier-avatar

Worked very well for years! Then I upgraded to Android 10. Now it doesn't work at all.

  64. Geri Mars-avatar

I prefer to run my apps from external memory (an SD card). This app worked on the SD card upon installation. But, the next day, I had a ghost app in the app tray with a message stating that WiFi Analyzer was not installed. I'm re-installing it today. If it does this again, I will discontinue use of the app. I've never had such a weird experience. It seems buggy.

  65. Christopher Prime-avatar

    Christopher Prime

Was the best app for Wifi's. Stopped Working since android 9. Wants my location (gps!) enabled to find wifis. Even with enabled gps it wont find any networks! Before you never needed any location service and it worked. Like a. Charm. Switched to WiFi analyzer open Source!

  66. GenesisPower0 GenesisPower0-avatar

    GenesisPower0 GenesisPower0

I see no betterment of this revision of the app over and above the app now called classic. The only difference noted is that this app forces the user to turn on GPS. With two apps in the market one of them needs a changeable icon. The classic has been the best wifi app for android among the many in the market.

  67. google user-avatar

This app used to work well, however since I have had my galaxy note 9, it has never worked, tried relaxing all permissions, clearing data, nothing will get the app to work on android 9 or 10. Uninstalled as it looks like the developer ignores issues with the app.

  68. Nick Long-avatar

Does not recognize any of the multiple wifi signals in range, even when I'm connected to one.

  69. Jeroen Wijn-avatar

No response whatsoever from the app on running and no help from the website on how to use the app. Pretty useless.

  70. Jeff Conklin-avatar

Not sure how accurate the numbers are. But for finding where signal is strong or testing different locations of wireless access points for the best coverage this is suffceint and simple to use.

  71. Buddy Teig-avatar

Easy to use. Note that it stopped working after an Android upgrade....resolved by adding (new required) permissions in the android app setting

  72. A Google user-avatar

Great app. My LG G4 kept dropping wifi at home. used this to find a better channel, and all dropout problems are solved. As an Android developer, I sympathise with the need to adhere to Google's permissions requirements (re location). It is depends on the version of the API the app targets and not the version of Android on your device. Google mandated a change in November 2018. I know, I went through the same pain myself. Please don't downrate the app because of this. It is not the dev's fault!

  73. Tim Magnus-avatar

Used to be a solid good app, but is now broken (Android 9, Pie). Starts to detect wifi signals for the first 2-3 secs and then stops. There hasn't been any updates in almost 2 years, so it's pretty much abandoned.

  74. H Meyers-avatar

Been using for a few years, but lately (as someone else noted) the new selected channel becomes the worst in the wifi analyzer graph...the "AP list" shows strong though...will be looking for another analyzer.

  75. Steve Sutton-avatar

I keep getting no wifi signal in range when I know I'm connected! This use to work.

  76. Eric Phelps-avatar

Used for years and it's still great. Despite all the complaining from other people about needing location info, that's a REQUIREMENT from Google for the newer phones (because if you have WiFi AP data, you know the users location). Nothing bad going on here! All WiFi apps that identify an access point on Oreo or newer need this permission. If you have an older phone and this bothers you, you can either revoke the permission or use the legacy version of the app that doesn't ask for location info. Only wish there was a paid version!

  77. Petru Bogan-avatar

Useless, cannot detect the wifi at 1 cm from the router :-)))

  78. Ray Martin-avatar

Sorry to say, this latest version 3.11 simply doesn't work on my new phone (OnePlus 6T). I get exactly zero data, no charts or graphs or ratings or anything. Yes, i have Location turned on in my phone, a dubious requirement. A different wi-fi analysis app works beautifully. I've used the FarProc app for many years, so i hate to let it go, but i must.

  79. Scott Jecmen-avatar

this used to be a five-star application. I used it all the time for work and home. now I get nothing at all on the graphs. the app knows I'm connected to my Wi-Fi yet displays no signal information whatsoever. the app has no problem downloading advertisement. I will definitely check back later to see if it has been fixed. I've tried it on two different Samsung Android phones both the same.

  80. Xeng Vang-avatar

Omg!!! This WiFi Analyzer app works for real. It's better than the other one I've used. This app allow me to select which WiFi to use specifically. For example: Once you tap the band, channel or highlight Wi-Fi name you've logged in to use the internet connection, you pick or select that connection channel as your specific channel. It keeps your device from accidentally dropping like it's lost connection with the channel it's supposed to be connected with. Almost like a ant lost his scents of directions. On each page of the app screen, just highlight or select the Wi-Fi you already logged in to use when the option open up on your screen from this app. It's good that this app has the option to select the Wi-Fi you already logged in to use the internet connection. I was having internet dropping randomly and unstable internet connection from my brother's Verizon's 4G Wi-Fi signal next room. So I took a chance to try this app and it fixed my WiFi issues. I uninstalled the other so called Wi-Fi Analyzer pro app which I've paid for. This app fixed the real wifi issues without me fixing it. Thanks many times over. Keep up with the good work. Two thumbs up for your app.

Not working with Android 9. Been using this for years and am disappointed to have to find another option.

I recently returned to Android after a hiatus since my Nexus days. This app used to be a staple, but now, has become incredibly intrusive. There is no reason you should be asking for location services, and the ads are incredibly intrusive, and are many times, inappropriate. Congrats on destroying such a great program!

Phoney signal strength indicated. This app on my phone and same time and place on my tablet gave way different dbm. Tablet says dropped to -100 dbm. Phone says -70dbm. Long time at -100 on tablet while phone shows small variation near-70. Both can't be right.

This app is absolute garbage. Do not download it. It does not work at all. It does not detect Wi Fi signals at all, even the one it was connected to download the app in the first place. I re-iterate, absolute garbage, do not download. Probably a money scam.

Every time I try to connect to my 2.4g network it says "Failed!". Not sure if there needs to be an update for Note 10+ and/or new Android OS, but it worked fine on my Note 9

Not working anymore. Says not connected to wifi but still downloads ads. Developers of this are stealing data.

I was finding my wifi speeds too slow so I used this app to analyze both the 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz bands. I found 2.4 to be overloaded, but found some unused channels on 5Ghz. After adjusting my channels I am getting great speeds again. After installing this app I would get random Google play pop ups about once an hour. After uninstalling the ads went away. App developer: I'd be okay with an add popping up when I open the app, but not hourly. Uninstalled.

This is a great app, and I've used it for years. Great for finding free channels. Android 6+ Users/People who dislike the location permission requirement: Like many of you, I had tried to use the app after a long time and many OS updates, and it didn't work. After seeing the discussion in the reviews, I tried another app, and it warned that the newer Android versions REQUIRE location permission to scan networks. This makes sense, as with a couple networks with known location and building layout, you could triangulate location. After long tapping Location in the quick actions tray, going to app permissions, and enabling location for the app, it's working great again. TL;DR: It's not the author's fault, it's a security change google made. If it's not working, enable location permissions for the app manually.

Works perfectly, you have to enable location in the app settings (go to permissions) for it to work on the latest Android OS. If you don't it won't work.

Does not work on Android 10 - Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra. Worked great on previous Android versions. Please update!

I've used this app across several phones and have found it invaluable when troubleshooting odd wifi problems. For Android P: As others have said, you need to specifically enable Location permissions for this app in system settings in order for this app to work. Also, with Android P: Google has set limits on the types of system calls this (and other apps of this type) perform in order to get access point information. This can cause issues with the app showing delayed or old data. The app, unfortunately, does not have a way around these limits. There are bug reports and feature requests with Google open to fix this problem.

Essential tool for locating dead spots, evaluating signal strength & balancing channel congestion in neighbor's LANs I manage.

For the record, I am unable to give 0 or negative stars. With an s8 it doesn't read ANY WiFi... Even if I tape my phone to the router I was connected with to download the app. Straight up garbage.

The app should ask for location permission since it needs it to be able to even scan. It also stops scanning after a few seconds (Android 9), making it almost useless.

Used to work well on Lollipop but now it doesn't show me anything on Android 10. It says that I need to turn on my location for it to see my wifi?? Still nothing happened.

Used this very successfully for the last couple of years but I've now upgraded to Android 9 and it fails to load any wi-fi signals at all. Needs bringing up to date
