Description
The World Cetacean Alliance (WCA) Responsible Whale Watching App intends to act as a tool for the general public to search for cetacean (whale, dolphin and porpoise) watching tours globally. The companies that can be found within the app are partners of the WCA and therefore have been acknowledged to carry out these activities sustainably within the remit and rules the WCA put out for whale watching (provided within the app). The apps main purpose is to provide the general public with the chance to locate cetacean watching tours that are known to be environmentally friendly and ensure no harm to the animals themselves. To do this the search feature of the app (providing a map) shows WCA partners from around the world, explaining how these partners adhere to responsible whale watching standards and general features about each tour. Furthermore the WCA's responsible whale watching guidelines are provided for users to view and understand. This app hopes to enable the public to make informed choices when selecting a cetacean watching company to travel with.
