“Vi.co Hospital” stands for visual communication in hospital. This is an application for autism that helps people affected by autism during medical examinations or tests in hospital. It is useful for doctors, educators and families to prepare people with autism as it contains images and videos showing the main medical procedures, therefore encouraging their collaboration and the performance of the test. “Vi.co Hospital” associates step-by-step visual communication, a simple, multi-lingual communication method as well as the basic principles of token economy. This is an application that is useful for autism, but it can also be helpful for other types of intellectual impairment and disabilities as well as being a valid support for children and anyone who may not feel at ease within a hospital environment.“Vi.co Hospital” is an effective aid in education and prevention programmes as it combines the most traditional educational-rehabilitation tools with image-based communication therefore making the work of therapists, educators, caregivers, professionals who work with disabilities and families much easier. This free version of “Vi.co Hospital” includes the following medical procedure: drawing blood.
