Description
This app was created using the information contained in the publication of the Navy Hydrographic Institute "Correnti di Marea", using the harmonic constants deduced from continuous observations of tidal currents.
The forecasts refer to the superficial layer of the sea.
The speed is expressed in nodes and the "+" and "-" signs refer respectively to the "upstream current" and to the "downward current".
The time of the "tired" is the moment when the intensity of the current is equal to zero.
The times are indicated taking into account the Italian time, solar or legal, depending on the time of year, so they do not need corrections.
The app calculates the direction and the speed of the current at the reference sea gauges of "Punta Pezzo" and "Punta Ganzirri". For the other localities of the Strait, called secondary localities ", there are some calculation methods reported in the aforementioned publication.
WARNING: The result of the calculation of astronomical tide currents may differ from the actual sea conditions due to the effects of the meteorological conditions in progress.
