தேவாரம் என்பது சைவ சமய கடவுளான சிவபெருமான் மீது பாடப்பெற்ற பன்னிரு திருமுறைகளில் முதல் ஏழு திருமுறைகள் ஆகும். இந்த ஏழு திருமுறைகளை திருஞானசம்பந்தமூர்த்தி நாயனார், திருநாவுக்கரசு நாயனார், சுந்தரமூர்த்தி நாயனார் ஆகிய நாயன்மார்கள் தமிழில் பாடியுள்ளார்கள்.
Description
Thevaram ( தேவாரம் ) denotes the first seven volumes of the Tirumurai, the twelve-volume collection of Śaiva devotional poetry. All seven volumes are dedicated to the works of the three most prominent Tamil poets of the 7th century, the Nayanars - Sambandar, Tirunavukkarasar and Sundarar. The singing of Tevaram is continued as a hereditary practise in many Shiva temples in Tamil Nadu.
