With the help of the technology called augmented reality (“augmented reality”), SMART virtually links the digital world with the printed pages via the camera function and makes interactive and entertaining content visible. With the new version of SMART, Mitteldeutsche Verlags- und Druckhaus GmbH provides virtual details via augmented reality on a wide range of content and also advertisements that are printed in the newspaper. A look through the camera built into the mobile device such as a cell phone or tablet is enough for every reader to learn even more and in-depth information through the digital virtual content such as videos, gain insights into the event, the sensation and other interesting events. It's that easy to access the video or other virtual content: look for the AR icons on the sheet, start the SMART virtual app, scan the marked area with the AR scanner and the smartphone will display the corresponding virtual content. This is made possible by the super-fast image recognition in smartphones and tablets. The AR database set up and maintained by the editors serves as the data source.
