Samsung is hilariously bad at software. I have a brand new Samsung smart TV and it's literally impossible to screen share. This app was my last ditch effort to get it to work and this insists no TV is on the network. Smartthings doesn't even have an option to share screen. The native casting feature of Android, which works without any setup on literally any other wifi enabled screen, doesn't work with Samsung devices.

EDIT: Okay, so it looks like you need to use SmartThings in conjunction with this app. Then it will work. Flat out broken. Doesn't connect to my Samsung TV when both are connected to the same network. And, well, let's face it, that's basically the most important feature here, sooo....broken. And since the last update was 11 months ago, I doubt anyone has any interest in fixing this. No idea if any other features work well or not, obviously.

Would love to be able to turn on and off the tv with the app, wake on lan feature? Also if the app was more stable for casting videos that would be great. I have a google mesh wifi network and the p20 pro phone is 6m away from the base unit that is wired into the TV and it still cuts out at times. Casting 4k video the the tv would be great too.

When I first downloaded this, it worked perfectly. Now, it doesn't connect to my tv at all, it either says there are no TVs available or it continuously says 'connecting' to my tv but it never works, I'm not sure what's happened as it worked before but not now? Disappointed as I quite liked using it!

This app is useless. It tells me that there are no TV's to connect to. My television is on the list from the developers that it works for. There are no settings in the app. Just a screen that opens looking for my tv. Only to inform me it's not there. Disappointing. If this app did what it intended to do it would be great.

The app could not find either of my Samsung TV's and they were connected to the same wireless network. A good idea though it would only work. Looks like the last supported Samsung TV was in 2017 so they are about 2 years behind the supported tv's that Samsung produces.

Well... when I downloaded this app about a year ago, I loved it. Worked great, no issues, easy to use... Then it stopped working completely. Restarted my phone. Nothing. Uninstalled and downloaded again. Nada. Just a consistent major fail. Open the app, freezes immediately at a half-loaded main page, then bugs out after about 5 seconds and crashes all together. Disappointing. I have no problem with giving this app 5 stars after this is fixed. But in the meantime, completely worthless.

I couldn't quite believe this app could be bad enough to have a 2.9-star rating, so I had to try it for myself. Now, let's see.... Every device on my network, whether connect via Ethernet or via Wifi, can access every other device in the manner I'd expect. So, why is this app unable to see my 6-series Samsung smart TV? Another reviewer mentioned the TV must be connected via Wifi for this app to work. Is this really true? My TV is connected via the LAN port, so perhaps that's it. Ridiculous!

Would not connect to new Samsung TV series 7. Using phone pixel 2XL. All my old Samsung phones connect instantly, S3,S4,S5 using wifi alone-no network. Wasted hours trying! It seems this pixel 2 XL phone/Samsung combination MUST HAVE a router Network. The old Samsung do not need a network, they connect directly via WIFI.

This app looks great for first time users. But for those who used Smartview 1.0 (2012) it isn't the case. SV 1.0 used to allow screen mirroring both ways i.e. I used to watch the programs of my Samsung E Series TV On my Samsung GalaxyII. That was a great feature as I never used to miss the TV programs, while I move from one room to another. I dont know why they have discontinued the feature. Now I can mirror/Cast all my visual media from my S10+ on to my TV but not vice versa!😢.

Smart View is an app I have used frequently for some time and has worked very well. I use this app to stream movies from my Galaxy S10 to my Samsung TV (stream movies, not mirror, big difference). But in the last 2 weeks, my phone and my TV will disconnect after only a few minutes. Please fix this so I can leave a better review.

My phone and TV are using the same WIFI network, but every time I try to connect to my TV the app says the connection failed because my TV and phone must be connected to the same network. Useless pile of garbage, I feel bad for anyone who purchased a Samsung TV hoping to use screen casting.

Works great for my 6 series 50 inch, but doesn't find my newer 6 series 40 inch. Smart view is enabled on my TV, I've connected with WiFi direct, nothing works. All this proprietary nonsense is annoying. If I can cast to my TV with YouTube and Netflix apps, why can't I cast with VLC, Smart View, or the cast button in my notification panel? Samsung has always promised these features but they don't document them properly and they usually don't work.

Just installed for 60D7000 and it works well. The TV seems to actually respond to the app faster than any IR remote. I wish the Source button wasn't in a menu but is on the main screen. Will update after further use.

I can't understand all the bad reviews. This app just works, and works well, is able to control the TV and stream all kinds of media to it. All I need and all the app was designed for. Instantly connects to the TV on the wifi network, instant discoverable dlna server. 5 stars solid. Please keep this app updated!

Worst app. Can never make a connection to the TV. Samsung apps are almost always consistently terrible. Connected to same wifi and everything just keeps saying connection failed make sure to be on same wifi. No explanation, can't even Google a decent support response. The connection issues between TV and the app I experienced two years ago seem to be resolved. AND it is possible to end the need for a 'traditional' remote to authorize the app each time you turn on the TV! TV Menu -> Settings General -> External Device Manager -> Access Notification -> Off I'm surprised Samsung isn't making this info available!

What a pointless app, it will not find my new 7100 TV. It finds the internet connection, but no TV connected on my WiFi. Another Samsung app that is a complete waste of potential. I feel like taking back my TV because this mirroring function is not working and makes other systems much more attractive. Not happy with Samsung.

After years of streaming poor quality picture and sound via screen mirroring, with an unstable and sometimes buffering viewing experience, I stumbled across Samsung smartview on the Play-store about two weeks ago. The interface, the simplistic easy of use combined with simply the best picture and sound our TV has ever seen when streaming - it's just like watching my tablet screen on the bigger TV screen, but the app keeps dropping it's connection like clockwork every 18-20 minutes....frustrating

Good for just viewing media stored on phone. Cannot cast Skype/Duo/Whatsapp calls to TV so it proved a waste of space for me. I did have to connect to the TVs own network rather than my shared home network for the app to find the TV which was annoying.

After using remote in smart view you can understand the importance of IR remote and how it is inconvenient to use tv remote in a smart phone. Thin lines are buttons specially volume down is just one thin line. Smart view app disconnect from tv if you minimize, lock phone and even while using. I will highly appreciate and give 5 star if interface of remote is redesigned and more user friendly and if app auto connect with tv once paired and never disconnect.

I don't ever recall having a problem with the controls or the app.I absolutely enjoy shutting the TV off and sending the kids to bed from my bed lol they hate it. I pick what they watch when they're arguing, it's glorious.

Don't work. No matter if in same wifi network or other possible way. Sometimes don't recognize the connected wifi network on phone. Tested twice installing, uninstalling and installing again... Simply don't work.

I used to use this app on my old phone with 0 issues would always connect no problem, but now that i got a new phone the app will find my tv but will not connect to it no matter what, very dissapointed.

Super frustrating... Does not actually connect to your TV,no matter how close to the TV you are... Or how many times you reload it. It doesn't connect to your TV. Do not download... It is a waste of time just missing around with it. 🙄

Useless app always SayS the Same thing no TV found I have a samsung galaxy note nine And a Samsung Smart TV it was the reason I got a Samsung instead of another brand but I did keep the receipt better off staying with the hdmi route so far even said speedy wireless hook up process to other Samsung devices I have a watch the gear vr headset and so far nothing is connecting.

I like it! There are a few things that need changing (e.g. I would like the app to be able to turn the TV on, rather than having to use the remote to turn the TV on and then the app works), but it has a good GUI and it seems to do what it is supposed to do.

I haven't used the app extensively but I noticed that when I type something with the app whatever I type gets imputed twice. For example if I type Google in the internet search bar, the result once I hit done is GoogleGoogle

It works if you uninstall and reinstall the app every single time you use it. Otherwise, it's pretty inconvenient. Also, it only works if your tv is already on.

Took forever to say I was connected to wifi, even though I was ever since I opened the app. Also can not detect my brand new TV at all, yet I'm connected to in on smart things. A shame

Garbage remote app. This app is not very responsive & often doesn't react to user input. Unlike Roku's app, there's no way to pull up a keyboard to enter text, so it's incredibly difficult to input passwords and usernames for the built-in TV apps. The only reason this gets two stars instead of one is because of the option to quickly select and display media straight from the user's phone. Otherwise, this app is petty bad. This is all inexcusable considering Samsung is such a huge brand.

shame on the part of samsung!! i can easily mirror the screen on budget friendly chinese/indian smartphones using third party apps that work on miracast technology but I cannot do it on my samsung galaxy A30 due to compatibility issues of this built in smartview feature with sony smart TVs I am writing this review after 3 weeks of internet research. samsung people are advised to either get the bugs fixed or discontinue this built in feature coz there are various free apps for miracast technology

Samsung has severe ADHD. They start out with a great idea then abandon it... This app says it cannot see my 2019 Frame TV despite being connected to the same network. Nothing I do gets it to work. No updates to this app for a long while. Not reassuring. See? ADHD. :-/

This app is useless. We have multiple new TVs all on the same network, and the app cannot see any of them. Smart view does not work, therefore we cannot cast to our TVs. Its frustrating.

All of a sudden it's showing the Connecting to Samsung 8 Series but it won't go past that. I'm using an Oppo Reno 5g but its been working for aaages so why not now? Please heeeeeeeeeeeeeelp :(

Connection works easily. Picture on TV is same size as on my phone, no way to get it full screen. Might as well look at my phone.

This app used to work well most of the time. It recently started dropping the connection to the TV continuously. It also has issues with mesh networks and requires disconnecting and reconnecting to the access point the TV set is on.

This app is utterly useless. I tried to set up a new account and add my Q8FN tv, but when I click "add" to add the TV, it gives me a screen that says "Getting ready for setup", but then says it couldn't sign in to the Samsung Account. No other details on what to do. What a colossal joke of an app

It worked great for a while, now the app crashes while trying to connect to the same TV every single time. Developers have an updated since 2018, figures it's having problems.

Used to be able to connect to The Frame TV but now it won't show up in the app, essentially making it useless. Can't transfer photos to the TV which is the main feature of The Frame.

Works just fine. Can be a bit laggy but so is the magic remote. You can also use the voice commands, which is real nice.

Limited connection though both the tv and phone are in the same room as the router and when it does connect it is spotty and does not work well.

This used to work, but now, even though my internet is perfect, and both my phone and TV are connected, it says I'm not. So I uninstalled this app, due to lack of bug fixes from developer. It asked for permissions that it did not need like location and storage and then failed to discover my tv after I denied third permissions. My phone is on WiFi and my tv us wired and on the same subnet.

At first this app was just a waste of space on my S10 Plus. Especially with the smartthing app. But since being able to link what's on my phone instead of screen mirroring. It's so much better. it's not too user friendly if your a beginner. Not knowing IP address, DNS server, Router name. It doesn't always automatically detect it even when both your TV and phone are on the same WiFi.

Will not work no matter what you do. Upon opening the app, it says your wifi is not connected and "No TV found." After researching this problem, turns out it's a "compatibility issue" according to Samsung reps and people have been having this issue since 2014. Most threads were talking about 2018 TVs and the users stated it was a compatibility issue with new TVs. Considering it's the middle of 2019, I doubt Samsung cares about supporting this feature and helping its customers.

It's not even recognising my TV. I downloaded this app because the pre-installed Smart View kept failing to connect. At least that recongnised there WAS a TV.

it's faster to find your remote than use this app. auto connect to the tv never works, and it takes ~30s to be connected. main screen is just a list of all the apps supported by the tv, even if they've never been used & you can't set it to be a remote control as the default screen.hmm disappointing, but then even the tv software isn't very good & this is no better..

I am using this on my pixel 3a. The good news is that, with this app, my pixel can actually see the Samsung smart tv that is on the same network. The video feature works fine, as does screen casting large (e.g., panorama) images from my phone. However, when I try and share simple pictures, the image is highly pixelated - it appears the image never finishes loading. As it is mostly the snapshots I want to share, it is not so useful.

I don't know if this should be called an App. It doesn't function at all. I'm seating in front of my Samsung TV with the same Wi-Fi network, and it said "no TV found". Wasting time to install and uninstall it.

Took forever to figure out how to make it work because it was on deny my device under my settings so if it's not letting you hook up your phone or TV look in the settings of your TV and make sure it's not denied under device manager

it works until you leave the app or you walk outside to take your dog out and it disconnects. only reason it gets 2 stars instead of one is because since we have a regular wifi and a guest wifi, i have to switch to the guest and back to the main wifi in order for the tv to reappear. or else it says there are no avalible devices on the same wifi.

This app worked on my old Samsung smart TV. Bought an upgrade Smart TV from Samsung. The app no longer recognizes my new TV.... false advertising. This is terrible and needs to be removed or they need a new app.

This app is HORRIBLE and not user friendl. For the price of this tv, you really need to work on making a better app. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.

Works fine for me. I have Samsung Galaxy S10+and Q7 2018 model 65". It didn't work at first. Make sure TV and Phone are logged in. Connect through the smart things app. Add TV but should pick it up. Look at your notifications drop down and you will see the TV at the top. Hit that drop down and if you see all the options like remote, view on phone, listen on phone... Etc Then your good. Make sure Bluetooth is on! Good luck.

This was a great app but as of July 2019 they removed the function that allowed you to play TV sound on your phone.
