*** UPDATE regarding CPU usage for Android Oreo and up ***
So Android Oreo added yet another restriction disallowing access to the CPU usage stats. Thus, CPU usages unfortunately won't work on devices with Android Oreo. I have released a beta version of the app accommodating the rooted Android Oreo devices where it should work just fine. Do post feedback or send me an email if the BETA version doesn't work on your rooted Oreo device. Thanks!
*** END UPDATE ***

*** UPDATE regarding Active Processes monitor on Android Nougat and up ***
I have released a beta version of the app with Active Processes monitor working on devices with ROOT access. You'd need to become a beta tester in order to install it. It may be a bit buggy. Any feedback is appreciated, thanks!
*** END UPDATE ***

*** NOTE***
Some features of Simple System Monitor does not work properly with android version 6.0 and up because of the underlying system changes.
Also, as of Android Nougat, Active Processes tab will show only one app, Simple System Monitor itself. This is because Nougat has restricted access to /proc directory where information about running processes are retrieved from. Please bug Google about this issue instead of me :)
*** END NOTE***

Simple System Monitor, as the name suggests, is a clean and simple system monitoring app for your android device. It graphically shows usages of various system components.

• CPU usage and frequencies for each core
• Total CPU usage and average frequency
• CPU frequency graph for each core
• Time spent on each CPU frequency state
• GPU usage and frequency*
• RAM usage and ability to clear RAM
• Network activity
• Disk I/O activity (internal and SD card)
• Test disks' read/write speeds (internal or external)
• File browser with support for basic operations (copy, cut, delete)
• Cache cleaner (optionally requires ROOT)
• View list of active apps and processes and their CPU usage, RAM usage, network activity, PID and UID.
• Kill processes as ROOT (only works on rooted devices)**
• View temperatures of all of the thermal zones
• View battery health and temperature
• Ability to keep running in the background despite being swiped away from the recent tasks list
• Floating mode - shows system monitor data on a little floating window on top of other apps
• Dark UI theme

If you see "..." for one or more CPU frequencies under the CPU monitor graph, restarting the phone should solve the issue.

*Only Adreno GPUs are supported at the moment. Sometimes the GPU stat information may not be available/accessible in the kernel even if the device has Adreno GPU. In such case, "..." will be displayed instead of a frequency. If you don't see the GPU monitor, then your device's GPU is not supported.

**Using ROOT to kill processes is not recommended and should be used very cautiously. I do not hold any responsibility if something bad happens to your system or device because of it.

If you find a bug, please send me an email at Any feedback is much appreciated.

App permissions used/explanation:

Feature rich app with a good UI. The temperature readings are often incorrect, my SoC is apparently running at 274°C. The active process tab is very slow to load on my Snapdragon 855 device.

  2. guest-avatar

apk I've only just installed this but I had to come back within minutes to rate it because it's so good! It's exactly what I wanted first time (which is rare) and it is so beautifully simple and clear while delivering multiple data points - a pleasure to use. Well done to the developer, I'd give 6 stars if I could ☺

  3. guest-avatar

android Absolutely fantastic! It really does what it says on the title, and does it in n awesome way. Thanks for this awesome app. I have found my issue in less than 3 minutes!

  4. guest-avatar

kde Very useful and concise data presented cleanly. Very transparent about what it's doing and what's measured. Lean.

  5. guest-avatar

app I have used SSM for many years on different Devices. Very useful, clean, well coded, ... The best of its kind despite evermore restrictions on part of Android. Note9 NON ROOTED.

ing Very good app, user friendly interface. I just miss a way to see what amount of ram and CPU is used by each app, much like the task manager of Windows. Still worth 5 stars for the data provided, the cost (free) and for the well designed interface

  7. guest-avatar

simple-system-monitor@ariel Absolutely outstanding app. Does what it's supposed to and more.

  8. guest-avatar

download shows really good amount of details wrt memory/cpu usage. temprature graphs, cached memory etc.. app will be much better if process level details can be added and option to safely kill/terminate processes. update - apps usage screen does not show memory and cpu usage on my phone.

  9. guest-avatar

    владимир зайцев

apk download Good app, but where is updates? I wont to be able to enable floating window with separated cores instead of single graph.

  10. guest-avatar

    Mauricio Guerrero

4pda Excellent. Can you please add disk use by application? To see what's causing tons of disk activity. For example 256mb of cache disk use it a lot for an app i never open. Unusual activity causing slow downs can be detected.

  11. guest-avatar

The only thing I miss is how much ram applications use, something similar to top/htop on Linux/Unix

First of all thank you guys for making this apps. It has a lot of purpose on many other devices specially to me. When my device lags and i dont know what to kill app im the background processes it took me to format my phone always because of misinterpretation which lag causes my devices.. But i found this app. Just wow!! I can finally check what apps are causing my cpu boom!! So when my phones hitting up and laging. So simple no need to restart device or format. Just open this app check what apps are eating your cpu. Then manually kill that damn app. Boom best ever apps. No adds no lag no waste of time no waste of money. I salute you devs! Make more helpful!! Well support u

  13. guest-avatar

Excellent app for finding out easily what's happening on your device!

  14. guest-avatar

What happened to the floating CPU usage? It was literally the best part about this app. Was it due to Oreo that the setting was removed? Edit: I still have the CPU Frequencies and CPU Frequencies Times on a Galaxy S7, 8.0 Oreo. The chart is also moving. The only thing really missing is the floating CPU button on the top right. I had also checked this on my Galaxy S9+ Oreo 8.0, and both CPU tabs are still there except the floating option.

For the short time I've used this app, it's OK... Unless I'm unaware, it would be nice to have a feature where one can not only clear the history of the graphs but why didn't you add in the option or even a shortcut to clear the CPU clock frequencies? it would be very nice to have that Until then, have a nice day and thank you fo ryour patience for reading. -15/01/19

Well this App does all that I was looking to do (view CPU load by application) and actually offers more than I was expecting. The developer offers a link to "buy him a cup of coffee." I will be. (I suggest you first read the notes here to confirm OS version and system system compatibility before downloading. I did).

  17. guest-avatar

Finally I have found the app that I have long been searching for. Thank you! With this app, you can see every single app that runs in your system. Find out which is hogging your resources. edit: Network activity page constantly shows an upload and download amount (around 60bytes) although the airplane mode is switched on. That's weird?!

  18. guest-avatar

Thank you Darshan for this little too I was able to catch a glitch ,as logicaly i can explain it no other way. catching app process that were used in dec31 1969,1971. I Will tell anyone reading this review ,what ever is happening with this "glitch " ive experinced with mutiple android phones ,I know its not Darshan app here doing it. His app just was able to let me discover this again. It might be a glitch with Factory resets. not sure. Thanx nice app. useful tool.

  19. guest-avatar

Crisp, clean and does exactly what it should do. Perfect!

  20. guest-avatar

Amazing app, tells you everything you could ever ask for with a nice, responsive UI. This should be installed by default or at least the functionality should be available from Developer Options. Until then this app is the best solution

  21. guest-avatar

Not for me. No CPU usage monitoring for each running application - this is why I needed a process monitor. The list of services keeps scrolling and changing as I view and disable individual services. No scroll bars to see how long the lists are. I'm not a fan of the simplistic graphs.

  22. guest-avatar

This app seems to be dead. No updates in almost a year, and the full version has disappeared.

  23. guest-avatar

Thorough, simple app, with clearly explained permissions, and explanations of why Google changing permissions all the time can mess things up.

  24. guest-avatar

Excellent. All the features that were needed including the real time cpu usage which can be set in options and will show over the running used app. 😊

  25. guest-avatar

Let me preface by saying root is most likely required for desired enhancements such as task not service killing. also more details on ram content and applications using it as well as more details on cpu and thermal (possibly) information could be much more detailed... again, manipulation of some of these vLues could be beneficial and desirable. In short, maybe a root version or something could give more control desired by some, with a warning of what could be problematic or destructive.

    Louise Eckelberg

it doesn't open. it crashes before opening. hope it gets fixed soon or someone, please, tell me if that's something with my phone. it's a xiaomi redmi note 5 pro. i had it installed before and had no issues. thanks. (and I'm giving four stars 'cause i know it's a good app)

  27. guest-avatar

In the running Services tab, I am only seeing the memory usage information and none of the other parameters such as CPU percent which I would like to see. I am running Android V7 on an LG v20 vs995. is there something wrong or is this the way it's supposed to work?

[NEW REVIEW] I like this app but it is completely out of date which to me is a bad thing when it comes to Devices that are for Business.

  29. guest-avatar

Does what it says it will, with very little overhead/system load. Wish I knew more about the AOS so the "temp zones" table made more sense, especially since they vary from one device to another, but that's my next AOS study. A great, slim tool.

  30. guest-avatar

It's pretty good. Lots of useful graphs. Widget is not so useful and I'd like to see battery voltage as well as battery percent. (They two values don't seem anywhere near as correlated as one might expect.)

  31. guest-avatar

Great app but cant use it completly ,not rooted device, also my Pocophone SoC temp is 280 C, i think that's faulty otherwise i couldn't type this message 😁

  32. guest-avatar

Does almost everything you can ever ask for. Even more than some paid apps. And completely for free.

  33. guest-avatar

It helped me identify apps that were running in the background even though I'd not launched them since last reboot. I uninstalled those and now have a zippy Nexus 7 again. Thank you!

  34. guest-avatar

Try and deecribe your objectives a little more. The CPU cores are inflated a little and the actual RAM assumes a little direction with ROM vakues in theory. There dhould be a place that examiness the frequency of the relationship. Thank you for a good app.

  35. guest-avatar

    Sumitro Bhaumik

Great app! Simple and efficient. Can we have floating window of CPU frequency (avg of all the cores)? That way we can find if the game/process is getting throttled. Also, can we generate reports in CSV format?

  36. guest-avatar

Great app! Just one suggestion: in the app uninstaller, it should tell you how much storage the app is using. Thank you for creating this useful app.

  37. guest-avatar

    Olegas Malikovas

hello. why there is no cpu % load for apps? i have problem with lag from time to time and want to see which app or process cause of this. phone xiaomi mi5s rooted. add this feature (you know like windows task manager with %-al usage for processes) pls and you will definitely get 5*

  38. guest-avatar

Exactly what I needed as a ram monitor, detailed information updated every several seconds.

  39. guest-avatar

I like it because it has a Force stop for apps and I can click on the app and it will take me to the playstore two things this stupid Motorola z play does not have and this phone isn't rooted so all the features of this app doesn't work

  40. guest-avatar

The best sys monitor. Get this! There's nothing much to say because this app is so good, so well designed. Tells you everything abkut the internals in a clear neat fashion wether its CPU, RAM or sys temp. Well done dev!! :)

  41. guest-avatar

It deserves 5 🌟 rating because of the hard work they (developers) put in optimisation of this app !! It is one of the most optimised app on Play Store!! Just loved it :)

  42. guest-avatar

Network activity and disk usage do not work on my 1st Gen Pixel, but this app is still super useful. Please add ability to hide or re-arrange pages, and CPU Temperature with history graph! Would be 10/10!

  43. guest-avatar

Great app 👍 nicely done A+ a lot of feature I need all in one place. Buy this dude a coffee

  44. guest-avatar

  45. guest-avatar

    Danielson Pontes

to be perfect need to show the cpu frequencies in the windows that stay on the apps would be great because of the games at the moment only has the total use of cpu this would be an additional more in the app

  46. guest-avatar

My phone was overheating. It showed me the offending app. Removed it, and my phone worked fine after that. Thank you!

  47. guest-avatar

Does not display info about memory or cpu use for individual apps. For some it thinks I care about how much time each app was viewed?? So no info is provided to help resolve a problem.

  48. guest-avatar

Amazing app if you want something like task manager on android. the only thing that Id like improved is the ability to show network usage of the individual apps

  49. guest-avatar

App helped me figure out that Google Photos was killing my battery. Saw that something was always uploading and found it was Google Photos. Very detailed app, great info, runs light.

  50. guest-avatar

I've only had this in for a couple of hours - so far it does everything it says it's supposed to do and it does it really well. I have a question: what is a good temperature range for the CPU? What is too hot-too cold in your opinion?

  51. guest-avatar

    Richard Thiessen

works well. Shows everything you could want to see.

  52. guest-avatar

    Robert Nobinsky

So far, so good. Seems clean - No ads, no unnecessary perms, no questionable 3rd party libs, no tracking spyware, no privacy issues. Wish all apps were this clean.

  53. guest-avatar

App works perfectly but I wish it had an widget. My suggestion would be a widget that shows you CPU usage on home screen.

  54. guest-avatar

This is the first app I've found that actually tells me the truth about this Chinese tablet KT 107 that lies about its resources. i.e. core memory, # cpu, cpu clock...

  55. guest-avatar

My new favorite system monitor app! Very light on permissions. The only thing I'm missing is a popup overlay/graph for cpu frequencies?

  56. guest-avatar

Great sys monitor. Thanks to it, I found the app that was keeping my CPU too busy and slowing my phone to a crawl.

  57. guest-avatar

this is a simple clean app, shows lots of info and is ADVERT free, respect to the dev for that! very nice indeed, thanks
