App starts up, and sticks forever in the authenticating membership process. If it ever gets past that process, it crashes as soon as I try to load an issue. This is a new tablet, and there shouldn't be problems like this. Having a digital subscription is severely limited if I'm only able to read the magazine in my web browser, and not in the dedicated app, which, by extension, is a service I've paid you money for. Judging by the rest of reviews on here, this is a problem that's persisted for a good long while, and you don't seem any closer to fixing it. I love your magazine, but this needs to be rectified post haste, or you need to just pull this app from the app store, so you can stop advertising that your magazine can be read on Android. As of now, as far as I'm concerned, it can't.

I have a long run of the actual magazine but I though I'd give this a try. Crashed three times in five minutes. The Search is completely useless. I tried searchng the Archive for 'Pale Rider' and was told it was too generic. Enclosed it in quotes - made no difference. Only when I found out from IMDB when it was released was I able to locate which issue (of MFB) it was in: I was able to Search and get a result. Basically you can search for something if you already know where it is. (The website version is no better.) The scan quality of the MFB is pretty bad, though more recent editions of S&S are OK.

poor, i thought it would be too good to be true, being able to access issues of sight and sound all the way back to the 1930s and not expect it to crash all the time. should have read the reviews and steered clear of this poor app. its one way of keeping the print version in circulation. bfi stick to film criticism and funding, at least you know what your doing.

This app DEMANDS access to contacts and calls in my phone - with no reason at all! Why would I need to give access for private information to log in and read something I payed for? Why not just take my username and password? This information is not needed to log in from a computer, so there must be some other reason to ask for it. This seems very fishy to me. I have a subscription, but this app is useless. Never give premitions for apps if it makes no sense!!

This app is appalling since the August update. It keeps asking me to login whereas before I was just authenticated automatically via Google Play. When I try to use my Google account details, it says they are unrecognised despite my having an annual subscription. Pagesuite have been no help whatsoever & neither have the publisher so I've regrettably cancelled my subscription as I'm paying for a magazine I can't read. What a shame. S&S was my favourite film magazine.

Keeps crashing. Cant view S&S on laptop. Only through this ridiculous app even though you are paying full price for digital subscription. I contacted them and they were no help. A temporary password is all I wanted so I can view the magazine directly on S&S website. Buy digital subscription on the website otherwise you are stuck using a glitchy android app. It is the same price. I feel ripped off.

A very poor app from the BFI. They just cannot seem to get this stuff right. It's the same with their BFI Player. A browser-based streaming service at a time when everyone and their dog has their own bespoke app. Come on BFI, get it together.

Terrible. Take it down from the store and design it properly. Your 'forgotten password' doesn't work and sends an creates an email with my device ID code in the email body. WHAT AN EARTH ARE YOU DOING? Can't even reset a password. Well that's your subscription gone.

I'd love to read your magazine on my tablet but I've been put off subscribing based on the terrible terrible reviews here. I've installed the app and had a quick poke around without subscribing and it's pretty clear that this app is dated...Like hasn't-seen-an-update-since-2013 dated. I'm giving it a 1 star review just to add to the feedback here with the hope that someone at BFI takes note and realises they're losing potential subscribers like me!

Garbage! Keeps on shutting down every time I try to download an issue. Is it so hard to make a functional app nowadays? And, why is it asking permission to make phone calls and accessing my contacts? Any data privacy expert somewhere?
