For people who complain about it not working or messages not being delivered instantly. 1. Disable DHT proxy 2. Disable push notification 3. Enable Jami to be run in back ground. 4. Visit your phone's battery optimisation and make sure Jami is not optimised for battery - if not the phone will kill the app and when you reopen the app to send - nothing happens 5. Enable TURN 6. Disable STUN After doing all this - it will work like a charm unless you have some other network issues. There are bugs but the app is stable and does the job. For people complaining about images/files not being transferred - drag and drop doesn't work - it is a known bug. So as a work around you can go to the file using file explorer on Android choose the file and share using Jami - this works.

Probably the worst messaging app I have ever used. If you value privacy, use Element. I have never before used a messaging app that forces me to make a new account every 10 minutes just so my messages go through. Avoid for the next year at least.

A lovely little and the end encrypted voice/video/text messaging app. It's open source, has less political strife than Signal or some others I could mention, And it works great! The only complaint, is that no one I know uses it. Time to get the good word out there to the homies.

11/06/2020, abandoned fdroid? Problem with google/fdroid versions - messages having trouble being delivered/received - fixed(found this on my own after no response from dev): disable upnp, dht proxy, local peer discovery. Turn is enabled. Messages flow flawlessly on devices with and without google play services (for now and have been testing for a while.). Aside from all that, seems like a decent app.

I had to leave a review because this app has gone downhill. It defeats the purpose of a messaging app. You want to message someone in real-time without having to pay texting or data, especially if they live overseas. I have undelivered messages 90% of the time. Support. There's no support unless you're a GITLab developer. They don't respond to emails and their support on Twitter is awful. They're one of the few companies who doesn't allow DMs on there.

Has big potential, it has everything you would expect a chat app to have besides group text chats at this time. From trying it out on a Pixel 2, it didn't significantly impact battery life while still receiving push notifications. The desktop app has a rather large minimum window size however, and sent messages only appear on the device you send from. Received messages work fine though.

Great UI/UX. BUT it is constantly crashing and quitting in mid video call. It hangs up and lags. It doesn't even want to successfully make calls half the time. The app looks nice but that's all. It has no functionality outside of a good design.

I would give Jami 5 stars if they would allow you to control the ringer volume settings. Its not a huge issue but pretty annoying that i cant control that (set to mute/vibrate/turn up down volume). otherwise i havent had to many issues and its pretty easy to use.

I couldn't figure our how to use the app. I just went round in circles. No instructions, not intuitive. Came back to play store looking for instructions or tips, but none. Perhaps the developer had abandoned this app? Someone told me this was an app that could be used for music jams, but never got it to do anything.

Pretty Bad, app doesn't sync between pc and phone. Messages get dropped randomly. Huge delay when sending. Sometimes messages get sent twice. Sometimes they get sent in reverse order. This should be marked as beta because idk why anyone would use it as their primary app other than testing
