This app is nice for transferring photos from my camera's SD card, and when it works, it's fine. But it crashes a lot, and the developers obviously have no plans for updating the app, it's been more than a year since the last update.

The app requires excessive permissions and will not boot without them. Location, contacts, etc. These aren't necessary for a device which simply backs up photos from an SD card to an external drive. The good news for Rav file hub owners is that you can connect directly to the file hub via a browser (10.10.10.254), and have the same user experience without the data leakage and privacy violation.

You don't need my location turned on. Since the device is right next to my phone, and I can connect to it using an "IP address " I don't need to turn on location. The only thing that means to access is my storage.

Requires location permissions as well as other permissions (camera? Microphone? Really?) that shouldn't be requires for this (or any) app. Concern for security? Then skip this and use the device's built-in web interface.

Pathetic. It doesn't work more frequently than it does. Put sd card in, recognize it but can't display content. Try the same with thumb drive ditto. Sometimes (not frequently) it works. Device is useless if the app can't do what it advertises. Just a short read of comments should tell ravpower they should get it together. Lots of other issues too. To o many to list.

With all the negative comments, I was hesitant to try this, but after downloading to my Android LGV30 phone, I am well pleased. It works as described...none of the issues described by other reviewers. Glad I decided to give it a chance. I carefully checked and it is not running in the background and did not leave a lot of cache to take up room. I recommend it......if you are willing to follow the instructions and understand how to use it. Might also mention the iOS version works equally well on my iPad Air.

Took awhile to figure how it works. Sometimes you can't switch between apps so I would have to close the app and reopen it and would connect back fine. I recommend for those who have a file hub to keep it plugged directly into your router and use one of the usb ports to keep it charged. Always available when I come home! Great tool!

Returned the 1st unit and was sent a 2nd. Software horrible but it can be made to work. Instructions for backing up an SD card to an external Hard Drive: 1) Hold power button to turn on device 2) Connect hard drive to USB port and insert SD card into Filehub 3) Connect WiFi of the phone to FileHubPlus-B...... 4) Start Android app on phone 5) The app screen will have a blue section on top - swipe the blue area left/right until that tiny photo shows a SD card 6) Click on the File Management button 7) On my setup, I was then shown the option of SDCard_Volume1, HD volumes: UsbDisk2_Volume1 and UsbDisk2_Volume2 8) Select SDCard volume to copy 9) Select "Multiselect" on the top right of the screen 10) Select "Select All" on the top left of the screen 11) Select "Copy to" on the bottom of the screen 12) This next part tripped me up - pay attention 13) Change "Local" on the top of the screen to "Device" (file destination) 14) Pick a target volume (one of the UsbDisk2_Volumes for my setup) 15) Pick a destination folder or use "Create folder" on the bottom of the screen to create a new destination 16) Select "paste" to start the copy

**Solution!** It may not work for you but I finally was able to track down why this app was not connecting. I have an android and it comes with Lookout Security installed on it. After disabling Lookout from running as a device admin applicaton & stopping the service, I was able to connect immediately through the RAV FileHub app as well as the Web interface at 10.10.10.254. You might not have Lookout but another security app might be causing a similar problem too. Anyway, I hope this helps.

usually works great. except when it does not connect or when it loses the connection. when that happens, always end up turning the rav filehub device off for a while and turn on later to try again. or turn the phone off/on. or turn off/on my wifi. etc. etc. etc. .... anyways, really really really wish this app had a way to automatically synchronize the files on the rav filehub with what's on the phone. well, at least can copy a whole folder and click "skip all" to not copy existing files.
