What is the Pregnancy & Parenthood Mobile Application?

The Pregnancy & Parenthood application, updated for 2022, provides important guidance for Sailors who are starting or expanding their families, as well as for their command leadership and supervisors. The app includes Navy guidance regarding assignments, retention, separation, leave and much more.

Sailors can have both a family and a successful Navy career when both Sailors and their commands understand their roles and responsibilities. This app makes that task easier by including pertinent regulations, instructions and references from a variety of sources in one easy-to-use app.

The app helps Sailors understand the personal and professional responsibilities that come with parenthood while serving in the Navy. The app also offers command leadership and supervisors information regarding their roles, appropriate expectations, and required actions when speaking with Sailors who are starting or expanding a family.

The application is divided into the following sections for ease of use:
-- Pregnancy Guidelines, Limitations and Responsibilities: provides information about workplace assignments, medical considerations, pregnancy loss, abortion and related topics. It also covers medical, physical and ergonomic limitations during pregnancy, as well as ongoing responsibilities during pregnancy, including physical readiness, maternity uniforms and childcare.
-- Personnel Management: This section offers guidance on assignments during pregnancy, complicated and high-risk pregnancies, adoption, separation from service and leave policy.
-- Healthcare Benefits: This section covers topics related to provision of healthcare, pregnancy planning, conception, breastfeeding and related issues.
