This monument is called "Almudaina", which in Arabic means "citadel", because it is a fortification that has had a defensive use since antique times. In the tenth century, Muslims built a great castle here along the bay of Palma de Mallorca. Later, the structure of the Muslim Alcázar was used by Christian kings. Nowadays, we can appreciate the architectural evolution of the Palace Museum and admire the collections preserved by National Heritage, the institution responsible for its management.
