What's new
Description
OpenBarres is a free, ad-free application offered by the National Frequency Agency (ANFR) which allows you to obtain:
- the strength of the signal received by your Smartphone from your operator's 2G, 3G, 4G and 5G networks;
- a visualization of the position of the telecom sites near your position, with the operators and systems installed there;
- information updated weekly on the deployment of 5G networks open to the public in mainland France, without the need to use a 5G phone;
- information relating to exposure to radio waves emitted by mobile phones.
- an assessment of outdoor electric field levels throughout the national territory created by mobile telephone stations located outdoors and put into service
With OpenBarres, you can measure and record the signal strength received (GSM, UMTS, LTE) by your phone from the network of the operator to which you are connected [1]. The signal value is displayed in dBm in a color code depending on the power received by the phone. You can record power measurements during a trip with additional technical information associated with each measurement (such as celID, MNC, LAC, MCC, U/E/ARFCN, etc.), then download and share all of this data to analyze it or have it analyzed.
[1] The signal strength received by your mobile phone is measured in dBm.
With OpenBarres, you can locate, on a map, telecom sites and, with a simple click, find out the operators installed there as well as the network generations (2G, 3G, 4G and 5G) deployed and the frequency bands used. A filter also allows you to display only the operator and the network generation that interests you.
OpenBarres provides you with information on the status of 5G deployment by counting and cartographic visualization of 5G sites that are technically operational or authorized but not technically operational, by operator, by municipality and at the national level, with details by frequency band. By opening the “5G deployment” function. Data on the status of 5G deployment is updated every weekend.
OpenBarres informs you about the SAR values [2] of your mobile phone by providing you with the values published by its manufacturer. ANFR also carries out SAR measurements as part of its mission to monitor the market for radio equipment and telecommunications terminals. When the SAR values of your phone have been measured by the ANFR, you will see them appear in OpenBarres, in addition to the values communicated by the manufacturer of your phone.
[2] For more information on the DAS, visit the website anfr.fr
With OpenBarres, you can read the “good behaviors to reduce exposure to radiofrequency waves emitted by mobile phones” published by the ministry in charge of health, the ministry in charge of the environment, ANSES and ANFR, and thus adapt your use of your mobile phone.
With OpenBarres you can consult the evaluation of outdoor electric field levels throughout the national territory created by mobile telephone stations located outdoors and put into service.
The evaluation is based on a calculation modeling the propagation of waves in a three-dimensional environment using the IGN cartographic bases as well as data from mobile telephone stations located outdoors and put into service.
Finally, through a “News” section, OpenBarres keeps you informed of news from the National Frequency Agency.
