OpenBarres is a free, ad-free application offered by the French National Frequency Agency (ANFR) that allows you to obtain: - the signal strength received by your smartphone from your operator's 2G, 3G, 4G, and 5G networks and share the measurements obtained, if you wish, as open data; - a visualization of the location of telecom sites near your location, along with the operators and systems installed there; - weekly updates on the deployment of 5G networks open to the public in metropolitan France, without needing to use a 5G phone; - information on exposure to radio waves emitted by mobile phones; - an assessment of outdoor electric field levels across the entire national territory created by mobile phone base stations located outdoors and in operation. With OpenBarres, you can measure and record the signal strength received (GSM, UMTS, LTE) by your phone from the network of the operator to which you are connected [1]. The signal strength is displayed in dBm using a color code based on the power received by the phone. You can record signal strength measurements during a route, along with additional technical information associated with each measurement (such as celID, MNC, LAC, MCC, U/E/ARFCN, etc.), and then download and share all this data as open data for analysis or to have it analyzed. [1] The signal strength received by your mobile phone is measured in dBm. With OpenBarres, you can locate telecom sites on a map and, with a simple click, find out which operators are installed there, as well as the network generations (2G, 3G, 4G, and 5G) deployed and the frequency bands used. A filter also allows you to display only the operator and network generation that interests you. OpenBarres provides information on the status of 5G deployment through a count and map visualization of 5G sites that are technically operational or authorized but not yet technically operational, broken down by operator, municipality, and national level, with details for each frequency band. Access this information by opening the "5G Deployment" function. Data on the 5G deployment status is updated every weekend. OpenBarres also provides information on the SAR [2] values ​​of your mobile phone by displaying the values ​​published by its manufacturer.
