This little application provides a way on scanning handwritten notes and printed documents. It automatically detect the edge of the paper over a contrastant surface. If you have RocketBook Wave notebook or home printed pages it automatically detects the qrcode printed on the bottom right corner and scans the page immediately. After the page is detected, it compensates any perspective from the image adjusting it to a 90 degree top view and saves it on a folder on the device. It is also possible to launch the application from any other application that asks for a picture, just make sure that there is no default application associated with this action. Can be also installed from F-Droid: https://goo.gl/WwB9gB original source code and binary builds are available at: https://github.com/ctodobom/OpenNoteScanner

I've been using this app since its day on F-Droid, and there are some pros and cons with this newer version. It seems to have improved it's "document detection" ability - it's able to pick up (for me) a page on a lower contrast background than it could previously. That's good as I'm having to scan documents on a light background much of the time. On the other hand, the image processor seems to have lost a little bit in this iteration. Documents that used to be crisp are now unreadable with the image processor enabled, and many times I have to scan a document with the processor disabled. All in all it's still a useful tool and you can't beat the "no ads" and simple interface, but I'd like to see the image processing brought back to the level it was in prior versions.

I know that I can disable usage data in the settings, but what is being transmitted if I enable it? UPDATE: In my use the app was unable to detect the page, so needed to grab everything visible, and then would not show the image in the app's gallery, so I wasn't able to see how it did. I have since uninstalled, so the answer to the usage data will not be relevant to me, but possibly someone else.

No idea why the rating is this low for this app. Probably from people who don't understand how to use it. This app does what stuff like Office Lens is supposed to do but really doesn't. It is also free and ad-free unlike the similar apps on Play Store.

It is definitely a bad option if you have to install a scanner app. I thought it will work great because it is open source but it works like a camera. Another problem is the image size: the same as a regular shot. My conclusion is that it doesn't worth the purpose. I will still searching for a great open source scanner app.

Works on my Note9, but lacks a lot of features that would make it competitive (e.g. sharing to pdf, auto detection is not as good (I compared it to Notebloc, which auto-detected papers on my silver laptop surface))

Passable. I wish there was a way to change the filter strength after the fact or for that matter to change filters like in Microsoft's

The sharpening feature is cool, but the auto document detection does not work in my Infinix Hot 10 play phone. I also downloaded the one from F-Droid and it still doesn't work. Would be great if it's fixed

Small efficient n exactly what i needed. Things it could add may be being able to arrange the pages in diff orders during pdf compilation. Else its good.

Scans are near flawless. It doesn't cut out corners or distort the scanned image like other scanning apps do.

Thanks for including PDF export option but scan quality is not very good. Please improve scan quality
