AMAZING! there's always been a problem with my Xperia L3's camera app- it would autofocus and blur constantly so it was impossible to video. It's ruined many once in a lifetime videos of mine. With this app there's no problem at all!!!!!! I'm absolutely stunned by the video quality of my otherwise terrible hardware camera :) Honestly I was just about to buy a new phone for a better camera. No longer needed :D thank you for making it open source too !!

app Looks good to start with but a couple of show stoppers for me: 1. Video and audio get progressively more out of sync. After a couple of minutes the delay is over 10 seconds. 2. There's no audio level indicator or control. My audio through a USB mic is very low. I'd have to post process to make it usable. A useful enhancement would be to select front/rear camera as a default. When videoing yourself, you have to start by switching cameras each time. Device is a Google Pixel C tablet. Thanks for the app but, as it stands, I can't really use it. I'd be happy to help test improvements it though.

apk It's otherwise good... User friendly... But no "pause" option shown on-screen when recording a video. They didn't add such a major requirement even after mentioning.. Or could be that some features aren't working on my phone... Whatever be it, am uninstalling the app..

einstellungen A great, feature-packed app for people who want lots of flexibility and control of their photos and videos. Looking through the main settings show what you can do. But the quick menu and other on-screen buttons show all the things you can adjust quickly. I especially like being able to set the image size and aspect ratio from the main screen. The DRO image mode is a nice complement to HDR. Etc. etc. etc. Ten stars!!

anleitung This app does a lot and I'm extremely impressed. It has more features that some of the other paid camera apps. Only one thing I wish it had (or maybe it does and I can't figure it out): an option to average the entire field of view for auto exposure. I take a lot of pictures of plants and auto exposure from a small area on the screen causes all sorts of wild lighting changes that take a bit of finagling to get right.

raw This is an excellent stills and video app with the ability to shoot in RAW and LOG. The GUI is brilliant, nice and simple. I have two requests as a video shooter: the ability to lock the shutter speed so the 180° shutter rule can be applied (1/60 at 30fps), where ISO changes instead in order to maintain exposure; and some kind of on-screen histogram. Oh, and is it not possible to save to the SD card? That aside, I think this will be my default camera app from now on. Great work, love it.

speicherort An excellent app for the pros! TOTAL CONTROL! Hundreds of settings to play around with. My video quality has improved tremendously - the default 30MB/s for 4K just didn't cut it, so I lifted that up to 100MB/s. Night and Day difference. I cannot believe this is free.

panorama Great app but but one big issue. I'll start off by saying this camera app is amazing, it's got so many features that I didn't even know I wanted and it's gained my loyalty. However there's a big issue in video recording. I can't get it past 30fps. No matter what I try, the only other fps that will work is the 240fps high-speed on the camera 2 API. Other than that it's 30fps or the app just crashes. Other than that it's awesome

belichtungszeit einstellen Any chance to disable the annoying sound of taking a picture or starting/ending video capturing? I've looked everywhere in the option, and to top it all off the sound goes off even when the phone's volume is down! Even the phone is ON SILENT. I am taking my 5 star rating hostage until my demands are met. LOL

android Photo taking turns dark whenever take second shot. Every time need to exit and re-enter. Setting everything no changed, same object, same place and time, just only can't continued for second shot with the same brightness. Noticed the in info, only showed the "Exposure Time" was different. Tried clear cache and data, problem still exist. Except reinstall the app. However, after used for a while, the problem comes back. I have installed this for 3rd time. Little bug hope it could be fixed.

I've used this app for a long time with great success. However, I recently bought a new phone, and it won't save to my external sd card no matter what settings I try. Storage access framework is on. It will save to internal storage. I even reinstalled the app. No go.

Its ok, I use it to take smaller size photos for work. The focus can be very poor at times and the exposure adjustment is quite bad and really needs work. Why no auto flash? 3 star app in my opinion. It is also very poor on close up video focus, actually not poor, totally useless.

I use repeat mode to take dozens of pics in a session. Recently, when repeat mode starts taking pics, the screen only shows the first shot taken and doesn't update the screen live. It takes the shots OK, but I'm taking them blindly. This feature is literally the reason I use this app, I hope it's fixed soon.

Please reduce the noise in the screen while recording the video , there is a difference in when I use it directly from my phone camera to record video and when I use this app . The noise is absent when using directly . The only reason for using this app is it allows external microphone to be connected to my one plus 7 phone . Kindly correct this glitch . Why doesn't it use the original camera quality ? Why the extra noise ?

Looks like my last review was deleted so here we go again. This app has stopped working after the last android update. It works randomly but more often than not is completely useless. All attempts to fix it have failed and unfortunately this is the last time I will be buying a Google phone.

Good with exeptions. It has some really good features like capturing without noise reduction/edge enhancement. There are bugs: It likes to crash when I don't have the default cam app open in background and also sometimes only captures 80% of the picture (lower 20% black), both mostly on high ISOs. It has a good HDR mode but unfortunately, will not use the full resolution of my camera and goes only up to 8MP as opposed to normal mode. For devs: It crashes when automatically using high ISOs.

This is the perfect app for vbloggers who are starting to blog using smartphone and or otherwise also for photography and instagram influencers also. This apps gives you complete control of everything for setting the exposure to frame rate and so many features. I will tell everyone to go and use it once and if at all faced any issue, send an email to the team. So far so good I have never got any issue. Hope dveryone will like it.

Unbelievable. Galaxy A71. How did you manage to make the HDR+ completely change the image quality by that stark of a difference from stock A71 camera? I actually tested it in a very dark setting and my bottles looked like a black blob wheras Open Camera managed to capture SO much detail to try and make it look as seen (within reasonable limits). Does camera sensor matter or this is entirely compensafed by computation? Genuinely curious on how this app will perform on something like the N20U.

A decent camera app. Reliable, but needed the trickery option for 4k on Galaxy Note 8. For video, please, please add a large Keep/Trash After Take option button that stays until dismissed. Think of the kittens. I shot 32GB last time, and those were the keepers. Open Camera seems reliable so far. Zebra for low light as well as high would be good, too. We need longer exposure for low light use. Thank you.

I think this Open Camera app is by far the best among other camera apps. Camera2 API enable manual mode and it is amazing. Video recording is great with high quality. Bitrate can also be adjusted according to requirement. Color profile feature is also another great addition. The only downside is 60fps video recording is not posible even with Camera2 API enabled on a non-rooted Samsung Galaxy S9+. Hoping for a future update that will enable 60fps video recording on a non-rooted devices.

Its great for taking videos, but photos are bugged. There is a practically infinite delay in taking photos. I waited for nearly a minute after shooting one and it finally went into my gallery, but after all that it was blurry as hell because my arms got tired and wobbly holding it there for a whole minute. Please fix.

When I plug my phone in to an adapter and cast the camera to a big screen, it rotates to the orientation of the phone, unlike the stock phone, which remains vertical. (phone/android issue). This is the second phone (Huawei P30, the other being the Sony Xperia XZ1) where it claims my hardware does not support 60fps, when they clearly do so natively (app issue). This app otherwise takes advantage of hardware features even the stock camera does not (except 60 fps). Recommended.

Photos are far poorer quality than the stock camera on my pixel phone. Blurry, no definition, yuck. I downloaded it to have control over the white balance but the tradeoff in quality isn't worth it. Even more frustrating is the delay in taking the photo and even when I zoomed in, the photo itself came very far zoomed out. It needs to look the same on the screen as the finished product. Uninstalled & searching for another.

App works well for what it does but there doesn't seem to be any option for manually setting the exposure length (like for long exposure night shots) which is the literally the ONLY reason i tried it (as it doesn't really have any other features than my stock camera app). Add that option and I'll be glad to update my review.

I don't like it. Prefer the factory camera over this. The photo it takes isn't the photo it shows on the screen. You're shown some zoomed in photo... Then when you take the photo, you see everything after. Nope...I want to see exactly what my photo is going to look like on screen before I take it. Secondly, the quality and lighting is very bad compared to the factory camera.

To all the heaters on the Video Quality it's frickin Camera App not a video recorder. Programming makes the difference in cellphone Cameras by far. I got a temporary phone, a LG premiere pro. It doesn't have the worst software but coming from iPhone 6 it was a noticable difference. Finding this program was a godsend and no ads. PERFECT. GREAT Job Ty

There should be a simple key for the storage path. Internal/sd card. If you put the storage option as SD card afterwards you can't take videos directly from camera while it shows only the videos in the internal storage. You have to go to gallery to see the videos in sd card.

Has been replacing built in photo apps since android 4.42 for me. With the addition of being able to start the camera on lock screen without unlocking phone, and responds to "ok google start open camera" voice commands when your hands are busy Best results I got yet for macro and HDR modes Still staggering number of settings, easy to mess up changing too much

I use it as primary app for vlogging, does a good job to support external microphone. The reason I'm giving only 3-stars is because when I'm trying to shoot B-rolls in 4K @60fps, this app still gives me resultant video in 30fps irrespective of the settings dialed in. Stock camera on my Oneplus 7 gives 4k @60fps flawlessly, but the only reaosn I want to use this app is for exposure lock and WB lock. I can't rely on it for B-rolls unless it gives 60fps.

Personally I love this app and have used it for a long time for YouTube videos but I do wish that there was one thing that could be changed. Everything within the app is fine besides the fact that if my phone vibrates that it picks up on video. If you guys could change that I would gladly change my rating to five stars.

Can't use this app sadly enough. If set to 60fps the framerate is al over the place but definitely never hits 60fps.. It's all jittery. Gcam does work but I'm missing an option there to set the bitrate. Filmic pro is full of noise on OnePlus with their bad implementation of camera 2 api.. and the stock app has no external microphone option which I definitely need 🤦♂️ So with every app there's something

It's an amazing Camera 📸 App for my ZTE Axon 10 Pro!! 😱 It's extremely simple to use yet feature-packed!! 😁 The App page says it contains Ads but I've seen none so far! Does it have Ads at all? 🤔 Anyway, I wish to support the developers in any way I can! ❤️

Records audio great but video quality is too low... No matters at which quality you record the video the video seems to be blur type and the main thing, developer is very lazy 😪 He doesn't reply to your problems 🙏.. So use this apk to record audio only 😑 And i am sure of not getting reply... Well you can prove me wrong ❌

Exposes camera features that, quite frankly, should have been built in. I have a cheap smartphone and the default camera app doesn't work well, but this app exposes extra settings to use it as a decent digital camera. Good work.

Was able to switch my audio from the webcam mic to an external usb mic. This is the only program that I found that can do this. Was succesful with X88 RK3318 chip TV box. But for the x88 RK3368, there seems to be a problem. Open Camera would close the webcam after successful initiation.

Have been using it as a daily camera app. But it would be nice to have a distortion fix toggle/slider and 1080p to 4k at 60fps video options for camera2 api. Although the UI seems a little dated, it's still a perfect camera for my intensive use case. Keep the updates coming!

Takes very nice hdr photos and exposes lots of functionality but unfortunately it won't make full use of my OnePlus 6 wide angle camera and apart from the hdr is actually inferior to the inbuilt camera app on the phone. Nice effort and it may work better on other phones but it's 3 stars only from me.

Great free camera app that uses the camera2api to make much better images than some stock cameras. Lots of settings to dig through and the interface can be a bit awkward to get used to but seems to work great! Much needed replacement for the default LG Stylo 5 camera.

On my OPPo F11 i can edit and stabilize video fx on gallery default from Open Camera, but when i switch my mobile phone to Oppo Reno 3 Pro.. I dont have the same gallery That i have from my recent MobilePhone, maybe maybe u can give that Fiture for Oppo reno 3 Pro... It can be helpful if this type dont have Video stabilizer.. Thx.. It's a nice apps, maybe the best free available. But I have one request. Can you make option "use storage access framework" available in android 4.4.2 (KitKat), because I have an old phone with decent camera thats doesn't get android updates anymore. It would be nice if you could do it :)

This app is very useful but you should have the latest version of video stabilization. The previous Older version had video stabilization but you did not give video stabilization in the new version. You will soon get that video stabilization in this latest version.

Good, but can be improved on OnePlus 7T Pro. The frame rate can't be controlled. Even if you choose 60 or 120 FPS, it will still be recorded at 30 FPS. This makes it hard to edit once I've shot the video.

Please give me an option to disable OIS. In the settings you say that EIS might not be necessary if you have OIS. But in video OIS is undesirable in most cases. The warping and artifacts ruin the footage. Please add an option for me to disable it. Also maybe [email protected]? :)

Fantastic app. However I find that I don't use it. I think it's because it's overwhelming in most cases. Would be nice to have modes that I can easily switch between, similar to how physical cameras have the mode knob. The settings UI would be nice to have some usability work. Again, the app is great. Thank you.

Excellent Overall! what more can you ask for than a free camera app which supports unlimited photo taking functions. Program gives you full control over your photos from exposure to iso settings. Very Simple and easy to use. New auto level function was a bit distracting but has a setting to shut it off. Keep up the great work!

Absolutely exactly what I was looking for. My phone's built-in camera uses about 1 MB per second of file size on its lowest resolution settings. This is no good if you want to record 15-minute videos for educational purposes. Open Camera allows you to step down the resolution by bit rate, FPS and codec until you find the right combination. I can now record any length of video I like and still upload easily. Great stuff. Thanks!

Really really good App much better than the default camera on both HTC and Sony. I am removing one star because changing features like "Saving location", "Lock screen when recording" and "Auto-stabilize" (which I still haven't found), honestly the menus are all over the place I think they where trying to make it simpler but they failed. So 4-Stars, I still prefer it to the stock camera on my Sony. That all sounded very negative so I'll finish by saying OPEN CAMERA BY MARK HARMAN IS AWESOME!!!

Seems to have gotten worse. First, when trying to take a photo, screen keeps going pitch black constantly (only camera image does, interface stays visible). You have to move an adjustment slider such as Exposure or focus to make it lite back up. Then a few seconds later, BOOM, pitch black again and again. Secondly, video recording is wrong. I set it at 5Mbps @60FPS. It saved at a whopping 25Mbps @15FPS? Lastly, saved images folder at bottom right corner is broken. Nothing happens pressing it.

I wasn't looking for anything with tons of features, just wanted something simple to make some videos. It seemed OK until I looked at the videos I had made, they were very dark. I thought I had messed up the lighting somehow, but then found that everything looks darker when using this app. It has some settings for that, but they were all darker than what other camera apps show. I stopped using it. Now I'm back to the default camera app, which has problems of its own, one of which is that it shuts down after a minute or so of not being used. It takes me longer than that to get ready sometimes. I liked this one at first because it responds to the remote shutter. Too bad it makes videos so dark.

My phone is a Kickstarter project with a useable camera but a very simple camera app. Open Camera exposes many more controls, significantly increasing the usefulness of the hardware. I use the Camera2 API option, and there are a few glitches, which I was warned might occur in the online help. For one thing I can't use the front camera in this mode, but I'm not big on selfies and I can switch API's or use the native app if I need to. All in all, a boatload of functionality for free.

Log profile is just bad (I'd prefer to have manual contrast, vibrance settings). App gets stuck exposure bracketing in manual mode (manual exposure). I have to reboot the app to get it working again. Sometimes even when I restart the app, the app refuses to connect with the camera and this affects the stock camera too. I have to reboot the phone to get it working again. There's also a lot of frame skipping in videos. Setting long exposure time/shutter speed does absolutely nothing.

I installed this app primarily to be able to get my audio input from an external USB Audio interface - but it insists on just using the built-in mic.. I know that the USB interface is working because a) all the output comes through it, and b) I can get input from it in another app on the same tablet I have selected the Audio Source in the video settings - external mic, and all the others, and still it only uses the internal mic Is there another setting I should have used, or is it a bug? Great alternative camera app if your battery is low, my LG G4 refused to run the stock camera if the battery was below 5%, but this app allowed me to continue taking photos. On my new Galaxy S8, the stock camera does not allow you to use flash if battery below 15%, this app does. Also so many features and customization of resolution and storage options! However, I wish it had auto HDR and more manual controls such as shutter speed in the viewfinder.

I will change this review once I'm aware of the following. I want to create a video on the selfie side of the camera in a format that can be viewable by Instagram without getting cropped out. There's a 1200x1200 (1:1) dimension setting on the back side camera, but not the front side. Is this just a limitation of Open Camera, or is it a bug?

There is only one thing I miss from this camera, an option to use it as an webcam or camera on PC, using an app conected with ADB on PC, for example. This app is ridiculously complete, with tons of options, none of the webcam apps out there have as features as this one. The only way to use it as an camera on PC is mirroring the screen with programs like Screen Copy.

Just what I was looking for. I wanted a camera that DID NOT record audio. All other camera's mics are programmed through the phone's audio. I enjoyed using Open Camera in all my previous phones. There seem to an issue with the 'Take Photo' widget in the Redmi Note 9S, where the shot taken in dark appears very dark even after the flash was triggered. Hope it could be fixed. First time using camera app that did not ship with my phone. This one has lots of settings to play with and interface is easy to figure out. My S10+ has 3 cameras in the rear but haven't been able to access all of them yet. Will dig around some more. Really like this app. The Galaxy S10+ camera uses what I consider heavy handed noise reduction that cannot be disabled using the OEM camera app. Also uses too much compression of the JPEG pictures. Open Camera lets me turn off or at least modify both of these.

Has large # of settings and controls, some very easy to invoke without realizing, then takes forever to figure out how to recover. Got stuck with shutter speed fixed at 1/20 and all pics being overexposed, so kept searching to find where to set aperture, til finding you cant, must set iso instead. Another accidental mode needs to have a confirmation prompt added to prevent 1000s of pics of ceiling and floor (that took days to delete one by one in "Android Gallery" on a tablet with no keyboard).

Set app to record at 60 fps (default phone app can at the same resolution so I know the phone is capable). It recorded at 30.01 fps. When I open the app it states 60 fps but records at half that. (1.48.1) Open camera uses this name format when naming a photo. "IMG_yyyy-mm-dd_hh-mm-ss.jpg" My problems with this are that it's extremely long, & there is NO option to CHANGE it to a CUSTOM name format. (You can get rid of the worthless "IMG_" crud, but it's still very long.) Give us the OPTION of naming photos this instead. "hh-mm-ss.jpg" I DON'T need the "IMG_yyyy-mm-dd" crud (I move+rename my photos fast), & I know it's a photo from it's .jpg. I'll change my rating if this gets done.

My device now assumes it's in landscape and has Android's virtual navigation buttons along the side as if taking landscape photos, even while held portrait although the icons do rotate correctly. Excellent feats, but conf must be easier. Big use issues w/ GUI widgets: 1) Resolution. Default resolution, button placed on menubar will switch that. Add more, tap resolution text between arrows, and quickly switch resolution from pop-up listing possibilities. If 0 or 1 is all, pop up a lists of all res'z. HATE scrolling the list. 2) Sliders. NEVER, use sliders on small screens. Too inaccurate, and 360 step don't fit on 320px. So, behind slider a editable number field synced both ways.

Terrible locked up, no sound, rebooted, uninstalled, reinstalled and still doesn't work. Works ok on my other phone. Crashed at my church for our YouTube upload. Had to download another app.

I m using moto m phone. I am not happy with both Still pic & video, both pics are very dark. Didn't find any option to control brightness and contrast. This is recording a very low voice either if u shout infront of camera. My inbuilt pic and videos with audio is much better then the app but this app has a zoom option which I like but due to above issue it's become meaning less.

Really a good app. There's so many feature to blow your system camera app out of existence like taking a raw photo, night mode and the processing things. It can actually replace my system camera app. My only downside for this app is it still not support ultra wide mode. I'm very impressed of what an app could do.

For exynos 9611 soc in my galaxy M30s captured image quality is even worse than default camera app no matter how hard I try to capture to minimize noise. With camera 2 api images are dim and HDR images looks like taken in dark no matter about the lighting condition. Only standard mode images are comparable to default camera app rest are useless. Only for exynos SOC it is really bad but for snapdragon SOC with camera 2 api it is usually good. Although ported Gcam is better for the latter case.

Overall the app is good. I was also ready to give five star rating. But the background blurry option is not that good. If we lock a suject and try to focus that suject by making the background blurry, the whole thing would start to blur. The focused subject and background both will get blur. Pls fix that.

Will not allow 60 fps filming on any resolution. If this app did that it would be the absolute best out there with 5 stars. Please fix this, the stock camera app will do 4k 60fps or 1080 120fps. I do a lot of slow motion scope cam recording so those fps's are needed. I would certainly pay money for this app if it could. The manual focus on video is only reason i still use this app sometimes.
