precise location (GPS and network-based)
Allows the app to get your precise location using the Global Positioning System (GPS) or network location sources such as cell towers and Wi-Fi. These location services must be turned on and available to your device for the app to use them. Apps may use this to determine where you are, and may consume additional battery power.

The app was written by a 1st grader. You buy out pioneer with icontrolav5 of which I can have a party lots of kids... simply open icontrolav5 press one button and tilt the phone down and front speaker gets louder until I level out. And same for subwoofer. The is like taking the wheel from man and giving home a rock and a stick to make fire!

Please update to allow find by IP Address and then keep the ip address in the app to always find the amp. I operate an IoT Vlan with the amp on and could do with finding permanently by ip address and not relying on broadcast or mdns. You can enter an ip address but the app doesn't retain it. Please include this simple fix for 5*. Ty.

I give this app at 3 because it actually does work sometimes. However it takes forever to connect loses connection always. Does not work well with Pandora and is all around frustrating. I have had this app for a couple years now and they have never been able to fix the issues it appears.

Terrible! I have loved Onkyo for years. The company's inability to create something as simple as a stable application to control the amplifier is disappointing. I will be paying extra for Yamaha, Denon, or Pioneer to get a better smart tech integration with my next receiver. Sadly this Onkyo Controller version is worse than the older Onkyo remote app. At least that one was useable. Terrible performance Onkyo.

  5. guest-avatar

None of the Onkyo apps connect to the receiver anymore. They used to, but not any more. Nothing like spendingg so much time troubleshooting for nothing. 😡 Yes I've even tried the When Not Found option MANY TIMES over and over. I should get a discount for time wasted on different this troubleshooting! 💲💲💲

Dev's not listening. Was working now app doesn't see hifi. I'm not the only one. Now using play-fi app as work around. Piss poor approach. Hifi is buggy too. App has no support email. Onkyo is sinking beneath the waves, my last purchase. I'm out, shame.

  7. guest-avatar

The app is so buggy. It gradually just stops working so I have to reset my receiver every few months. Such a disappointment.

  8. guest-avatar

App was working fine but once I went with the latest update app stopped working mostly wifi related. My spotify music used to play great with no interruption now it it stops playing every 10 sec. Now my receiver turns on by itself.

  9. guest-avatar

The UI is not great but its easy enough to control the receiver. It's nice seeing what the video and audio input/output is, to confirm what's playing.

  10. guest-avatar

Buggy at the start but after a week it works great.. perfect for me to play music in zone 2 through my outsdie speakers all though the app.. my 2 sons also have the app and we can all control it at the same time..

  11. guest-avatar

This app works well when it connects. Which it almost never does. The device is almost never found, Onkyo please sort this out MN

  12. guest-avatar

Works good once you connect the receiver to LAN hardwired. Was super flakey and took forever to find the receiver before that when it was connected to wifi. Had a jack in the area by my entertainment center previously for my HTPC but just the one so I added a 5 port switch right there and now most of my stuff is hardwired and they work much better (roko, tivo, nr-777, & htpc).

Does not connect anymore to my Onkyo TX-RZ710. App is broken now and does not work for me. Could be due to firmware upgrade on Onkyo, either way does not work now.

  14. guest-avatar

Terrible app. Designed by people who don't speak english. Looks like an afterthought. It would probably take one software release cycle to update all the terrible english in it and make it not look so unprofessional.

  15. guest-avatar

It works.. but app is convoluted. Why is the Remote menu not the full remote, and the Control Device is? Cursor buttons and power button work on one or the other, but not both. Cant just merge the two and call it remote?
