Louis Segond, born October 3, 1810 in Geneva, was a Swiss pastor and theologian who, at the request of the Compagnie des Pasteurs de Genève, translated the Bible into French from the original Hebrew and Greek texts. The translation of the Old Testament was published in 1874 and the New Testament in 1880. This version is usually called the "Bible Segond" and it will become the reference within French Protestantism. Le Nouveau Testament est composé de 27 livres, correspondant aux Évangiles, aux Actes des apôtres, aux Épîtres et au dernier chapitre appelé Révélation.
Le mot «Testament» vient de l'hébreu «Berith» qui signifie Alliance, Convention et se réfère à l'Alliance entre Dieu et les êtres humains.

La Bible Louis Segond est la Bible la plus utilisée par les églises chrétiennes protestantes.
Louis Segond, né le 3 octobre 1810 à Genève, fut un pasteur et théologien suisse qui, à la demande de la Compagnie des Pasteurs de Genève, a traduit la Bible en français à partir des textes originaux hébreux et grecs.
La traduction de l'’Ancien Testament a été publié en 1874 et le Nouveau Testament en 1880. Cette version est usuellement appelée la "Bible Segond" et elle deviendra la référence au sein du protestantisme français.
