Reviews From google play store

This app is great but for some reason when I go to enter to info to save the day's bike ride, the background is black and so is the text so I can't tell what I am entering. I have a Samsung Galaxy S7. Any ideas?

This app really needs to be brought back. It was quite versatile as a fitness tracker.

A great application for collecting GPS waypoints and such.

Brilliant good and very good and it works with GPS on my phone very well

Google time to spend money like Acer company did on Xplova X5 EVO GPS and Action Camera Bike Computer My Tracks work only half way Speed calories time work Map is out blank not coming out red line point to ponit you can see no maps no street view long line I took a spin on the bike 10 mile can not see witch stree i took on maps suck red only line Google map Google Street view Good Earth and My Tracks need good update Time to spend money because somebody else will take off technology bye

Google should re-enable this app. This was perfect and the only app to check traveling speeds. Easy to use and sync to Google drive was smooth. Recording the track, with speed of travel, is never easy and possible in any other app.

This app was perfect for what I need it for. Simple, slick and did what it said on the tin without fuss. It's a shame it's been canned. Bring it back Google, I dare ya!

excellent features and simple to use. too bad it is no longer supported and the maps stopped working.

Simple, no fuss app. But why did Google discontinue it! Ugh... Stop being so ADHD Google oh Google. Killing awesome apps all the time. (I miss hangouts and inbox)

This is a no-fuss easy to use and a perfect app. served me for years very well. Looking forward to see it progressing.

Bring it back! Since this was shelved a few years ago, I've still not found a decent replacement.

Maps are blank, record a ride and it shows a red line on a blank white screen...

excellent app for those who need a true tracking app.

I need a Shaman to ressurect this app. I know there are apps where time and money are spent and even still they're not good enough, this is not one of those cases. Fit does not replace this app.

Dont like something that update automatically then diesnt tell what theyve updated!!!...???

i love this program. i can back track easy

Deprecated? If I knew would not wasted the bandwidth. Uninstalling now.

Works great. Love it.

please re-enable this app! it was great!

simple, clean, not trying to make you share

Please re-open it for the world!!! One of my most favorite apps! It's the biggest regret to stop it!!!

Been doing sea trial records for all my boats with this one, thanks in advance.

Please do not shutdown this app @google

Not Worthing on my phone

Still great tool

thkz..its very usefully.great

Google play sticking

don't use it

I had this on my old phone for about 2 years after I found it, works wonderful. Could you please tell me what is on the market that is the closest to this application. I understand it will be discontinued April 30th of this year. What a shame... It's a great app. Money is probably not the reason for discontinuing but what do you say I send you an additional $20 maybe you will keep it on for another 6 months if others did the same. Steve Tate

The death of this fine ground breaking app is sad but like route measuring inside Maps and the brilliant Snapseed editor within Photos it obviously stands in the way of future develop paths. I am pinning my hopes on the enhancement of Google Fit. Sorry, but the alternative 3rd party apps do not come close to the smooth functionality and integration with the core Android product set.

My best app for a tracker! Multifungsional use! Could be used as a sport app or for evaluating routeplan of my delivery team as well as my sales team .. please do not discontinue this great masterpiece. Please reconsider .. maybe its just your marketing team who didnt manage to promote this app in a better manner so people would 1000% use it. Come on google. You have all the brains there.

No! Don't discontinue this app it is fantastic. I use it for metal detecting and it really ticks all the boxes i need, GPS tracking so I can see where I've been, how far I've come, height gains/losses. The ability to easily add markers or photos of things I've found and access their GPS co-ordinates easily is invaluable. Please reconsider keeping it going or suggest some better replacements

This is a great app! Too bad Google has dropped support for it. It does what it should do, no more no less, no unnecessary clutter nor social media garbage, publicity or other annoyances. Very simple interface, perfect for hiking or running: it keeps track of your path, height profile and speed, plus it provides some simple statistics. I wish there was an alternative to this app that were as simple and efficient. And free.

I really like this app a lot, not only for hiking, but for road trips too. It's ease in exporting tracks to Drive is impressive. I sure am bummed out to learn of its demise. Maybe Google will change their mind? That would so great if they did! Enjoy it while you can.

It is simple to use, stable, reliable and does not have too much features. All I need is an app that will record my gpx track, export it to external sd card to match it with photos from my camera and show current statistics. That is all. I do not need fancy social media options, in app trainings or stimulations, videos and music integration. Too bad you decided to discontinue it. I really hope you guys will reconsider this decision and enable it back!

This is a great app. I have enjoyed for over a year now and it exactly the no nonsense app that I need. I can record my tracks, safe them, and use them layer on in whatever way I want. So I am very sorry to hear that this app will not ve continued by Google. That's a real shame. The apps that Google suggest as replacement ate not equivalent. Therefore, please Google, continue this app. I am a senior citizen and I am not interested in all health nonsense of the other apps that you recommend. Thanks.

Please Google, please, please keep this app!! I'll happily pay for it!! There are no other apps that work like this one. I use it every day when I'm out mapping what the US Forest Service is doing to our National Forests, can make streams, trails, wetlands, roads, very easily, just start recording, walk, then stop recording. Move the track over to Google Earth and it's there. just like that. Please don't kill this app!!!

Please don't kill this app. It has everything you need and nothing more for a tracking app. Not just of running but any moving activities. I like that it isn't obnoxious about its features and none of that friends stuff that is in other apps that I don't need. It had a great UI and was super simple to use with the widget. If the app was never updated again I could live with that just fine because it doesn't need any more features. Now I have to find a new app and that's not gonna be fun.

MyTracks is so far the best GPS tracking app I've used - simple UI, seamless exports to Google Drive, kind on battery. It has everything to be one of the best Google apps. I don't need activities sharing, or other bloating features! Why are you giving it up, Google?

Please tell me it's an error. This is by far the easiest and cheapest mapped track creator. All these subscription fees from app services (many of them aren't even services, just development) are going to break my bank, or leave me less functional.

Please do not discontinue this app. I love the real time stats part the most. If you want to stop the support for this app that's totally fine and understandable, but please let it stay in the play store and available for download. There are literally thousands of apps from strange developers out there, so why you want to shut down an app from a developer that I easily trust? I'm telling you, if you shut down this app, I will create one myself exactly like this one (just kidding!) But don't kill it!

'Good job' 👎 the last update made the app unusable. No map is shown despite of the Map app is working correctly. Correcting my review - it's not an update related issue but a standard state. Reverting back to older version did not solve it neither... RIP MyTracks

Good while it lasted. Like anything Google, it was deprecated on its heyday, possibly; so it's sadly going to be swept under Google's rug come April 30, 2016. And don't you Google folks dare say it's been properly replaced by the new Timeline feature on Maps because it hasn't: the latter doesn't even display simple, no-frill distance logs on your timeline, for starters. :-(

Google is shutting down this app because they can't monitize our data with it. All of the suggested alternatives monitize the crap out of your data. And they removed the source code over a year ago, to prevent anyone else from picking it up.

You idiots. This was the best app google had besides "search". Too bad I wasted my time cataloging my workouts on here. It's never a good idea to invest your energy in a google app... they'll just pull the rug out on you eventually.

I'm one among the millions of people who love it. Today it doesn't work like the past, but still working, I still love it and don't have an idea to uninstall. next month i'm gonna buy new phone to which I'll transform this app through share it. love it . Thanks developers.

Although the hardware can be an issue that's beyond the apps control this usually did all I needed. It's going to be off to Google Fit now so I hope that works at least as well. Too bad to say so long My Tracks...

Google, please don't get rid of this app! Seriously the best GPS app! This is very useful and I love the widget and even better is there wearable app, that is the easiest way to record a bike ride. If this was a paid app is by it! Please cancel your plans to discontinue this app. I use google fit for fitness tracking but it is not as easy to track my daily bike rides with that.

Killing this app except to drive people to download that garbage app - google fit. Nothing more needs to be said. Instead of Googlefit, get polar or wahoo fitness, strava, training peaks etc for fitness tracking. This app was great when hiking in the wilderness and you wanted to trace back your steps - without data. Sad sad news. Google is very greedy, and well on its way to being evil.

I can't believe that one of the best apps I've ever used is "deprecated"? It did almost everything I hoped for from a tracking app. Rather hoping there's some way I can recover the tracks held on my other Google account before I bought a new phone with a gmail account! 😉

This may be the most important app on my phone. I use it all the time, and it is better than all other sport trackers I've tried. I hope the decision to deprecate it can be reversed, at least such that current users may continue to use the app in its current state.

Really like this app. Use every time I go bike riding with the kiddlies, great to be able to take photos of key points on the way. Then look back later. Don't get rid of this app google. Its easy to use and doesn't appear to take too much battery when using it out - and - about.

Google, do you read your own reviews ?? Don't terminate this wonderful app. Nothing out there come close to it's simplicity. Like so many others have said, I would gladly contribute for it's upkeep but somehow I think that this appeal is too late . . . Good-Bye "My Tracks"

This sucks. It is am app which both works and is useful, not to mention pretty darn accurate. It is a sad day. Hell, i would even buy this app. I would never by a Google Fit, they just don't work properly, and you have the tech in excellent form with My Tracks. Charge a couple of bucks for the damned thing.

Take an app that lets you do something usefull and the best way to make it better for the user is to take the app out back and shoot it? Somehow there has to be a better way to resolve this; I might even pay a small fee to keep it at least on life support for a while. I wonder what kind of app they will develop in it's place?... perhaps an app to measure how clear the Spinal Tap reunion cassette tape is...

Why update an app & announce you are killing it simultaneously? This was one of your Crown Jewels & you're killing it to pour your , "limited resources" into that crippled, "Social" Battery killing - Google Fit. - Is everything about $? Maybe, stop wasting Billions with companies & ideas that are doomed to fail - Motorola, Nest,, Driver-less Cars, Glass. Charge for it if you really need the $ There must be a way to monetize the data in Tracks, without the 24/7 tracking & crippled functionality of Fit

Google, I love this app. I've been loyal to your products for 8 years. Recently, Inbox and other fluffy replacement apps have me wondering if I should look elsewhere for quality content in the future. We all think you should use this app more and get out of the office!

I want to add my voice to the others. This app is simple great ! I don't need any integration with any social media, online sites or any other features that just clutter up so many apps. I use the app daily, and often use it with a Bluetooth heart rate monitor and, on occasion, have shown it to a doctor. The export feature is very nice and I use to to view past records on an android tablet. I would like very much it Google simply kept it even if unsupported. Can't think of much to add to the app anyway

I can't believe this app is being discontinued! I use it all the time. It has everything you need and features stuff I haven't found in other apps. The apps you guys have recommended to replace my tracks seem far inferior and don't have the same features like satellite view and keeping track of elevation gain. The maps on the others are frankly garbage. This SUCKS! Please recommend a comparable app or keep this one running

Google likes to kill their best apps. First it was Google reader now mytracks. Google creates an environment within Android to keep users using their apps and tied to their ecosystem. But if my favourite apps are no longer there, where is my loyalty going to lie when it comes time to get a new phone?

I used this app for a while but it seem to have been dropped alot of decent functions. I did not see where my tracks relative to anything, just a a lonely line on the screen. when I took photos it froze my phone so much so, I had to remove the battery to restart my phone. I tried it over. It did it several more times to me. what happened guys this used to be a good app?

By far one of the most used apps on my device. Far and away better than anything else I have used. PLEASE keep this app going. Typical that Google would kill this....what, is it not "Apple-looking" enough? That's WHY everyone loves it, because it is NOT.

I've tried them all and this is the best app of it's type for walking and cycling as far as this user is concerned. Also as a bus driver I find it an invaluable aid to learning new routes. Now I see it is to be dumped??? Comments on here suggest this is not a good idea. I agree

Why kill it? It works well, does what people want and is simple to use. Face facts google, few people like it's replacement "Google Fit" and are not interested in fitness, all they want and need is a location tracker tool not some bloated badly designed calorie counter.

Why "shut down" an app where all the important functionality is client side? Can't you just leave it alone, and let it quietly die, rather than annoy millions of users with a hard shutdown? Difficult to understand.

VERY unhappy that this app is being phased out. It's probably one of my favorites. Every new phone I get, I make sure to download this app and I've been on Android since the first Motorola DROID.

I have used this app for years now on a number of devices. I am a wildlife biologist that is always doing things in the field, involving combinations of walking and driving. This is the one app that allows me to start it in the morning, and record a track of every single place I have been, whether in a vehicle or not. I don't need to share anything with my friends. I don't need trophies or stickers or achievements. I don't need social media integration. I just need this app to never be discontinued.

This is a great app: easy to use, fast, and from as reputable a source as you can get on an Android device. It's a shame that Google is discontinuing it, but it's their call if they want to continue simplifying their product lineup. MyTrails by FrogSpark looks like a nice alternative and additionally offers some powerful features that My Tracks does not have.

Getting sick and tried of Google releasing a product only to kill it off a few years later. Now they update an app they have announced will be killed in 3 months. Maybe time to leave Google for good.

I guess Google couldn't figure out a way to completely ruin it, so they gave up. Was a great app, just needed a pedometer function added to it. Final updates made it less intuitive (worse than before). Became difficult to use, and playback on Google Earth no longer works at all. In typical Google fashion, they almost ruined what users liked. And now they are eliminating it? Companies must search hard to find such clueless developers. Or maybe management just decides "hey, this works... let's screw it up!"

Are you really *killing* it, rather than just not developing it any more? Bizarre - and sad. I use it literally hours every day, for collecting tracks for walking, driving - everything. If this dies I'll have to go back to my garmin, and that's a pain in comparison (although the tracks are slightly better)

Please Please please bring this back! I use this to track bike rides and get some idea of the pace I kept while out. I also like to see approximately how many calories I've burnt, although i'd probably research a more accurate device for the bike if I was hardcore about it. Fun app for tracing progress though and good enough for me! Easy to record, and store each outing. I use it in the car too when I travel to monitor progress or remember the route to fun places.

The best track logging app on Android! Does everything you want. No unnecessary clutter. Now very stable and reliable, a mature program. Used it for well over four years. Can not understand why anyone would "deprecate" it.

Google updated this app yesterday only to break it. It will stop working after April 30. We need to find out who keeps killing useful apps at Google and have him fired.

We use this app for tracking our yacht, especially when racing. It is an essential tool for reviewing and improving our performance. We use both the track and the speed chart to great effect. Please take note of the flood of reviews asking you to reconsider your decision.

I've used tracker for all my bike rides, hiking adventures, skiing and sailing exploits. It works very well without taxing the battery of either my phone or my tablet. It does what it does very well without many bells and whistles. IMHO this what makes it a great product. It is simple but does its job very well. I guess I'll hunt down a third party app that does the same thing.

This app has exactly what i want. Google fit is ugly and takes too many clicks to use. My teacks easiest to use. I will not be using Google fit. Strava is not quite as good as mytracks. Please leave it the way it is. If Google fit was more user friendly and had less useless options I would consider using it. Don't ruin a good thing.

I have been using the app for over a year and have been generally happy with it. I have had a few glitches but not enough to unload. I like this better than similar apps and appreciate the integration with my Google Drive and Google fit. Please don't continue the tendency Google has shown to build a following for an app only to discontinue it for no good reason. I didn't know this was happening. I was just checking to see what the latest update was about and saw many users pleading for it not to die.

I parked twice in the same day in a car park. Was issued a parking ticket based on first arrival and second departure. Tracks printout showed I left and re-entered the car park in between. Useful as the ticket arrived weeks after the alleged parking infringement.

This app has been fantastic all these years and killing it is all about building their data harvesting platforms (Fit in this case.) MyTracks was open source in the beginning, best I can hope for is they reopen it and let it live on. (Not likely)

I am so happy that I can still use the app despite the fact that it was promised to be shut down. I have no intention ever uninstalling it. This app is my best friend when I am going running or biking. Thank you for not entirely closing it :D

My first review of an app! A fantastic app! About the best app of any type that I've ever used on a mobile. Yet Google are to discontinue it! Why? Come on Google, just look at the recient reviews! You'll get the idea. You know what to do.

Perfect app. Don't kill another one. Tried all the suggested alternatives today. None do the job as well as my tracks. Just records the data, photo markers, and see the result anywhere without trying to sell me shoes.

It's perfect. All the alternatives are either amateurish or bloated with clutter and/or trying to force you into social media sharing.

Another Google favorite being eliminated. I have to stop putting effort into using Google apps in my daily life just to end up having to find an alternative down the road because they kill it. This was a wonderfully simple way to create tracks and sync to Google Drive for analysis.

Very sad to see this app killed by Google. The simplicity and accuracy is fantastic. I loved that it wasn't trying to sell me anything, it Just Worked. I doubt it makes a difference, but I'll add my voice to those urging Google to reconsider.

There is nothing like the simplicity of this app that simply, reliably works year after year. Downloaded fit and it is frankly, gawd-awful. Promptly uninstalled. Sorely disappointed in google. Can't they just leave it "unsupported"

Everyone into updating so they could put a deactivation date into the app which means anyone who did the last update won't be able to use the app after April 30th, not even if it's off line! Not happy!

This app is best for cyclists. It's one of the best utility app. I am using it from 2014 onwards. It can show my Slow, Medium and Fast Speed on map in different colours. But I don't know why this app has stopped !!

Have used this app for years, love how it has stayed simple and intuitive. Shame it now has a time bomb in it..otherwise would have continued to use it until it no longer worked.

I don't know what "deprecate" means and I don't care. This app has the most features of it's type and works very well. Many people use this app and I see absolutely no reason to discontinue it, or at least allow those who already have it to continue using it.

I have been an avid user of My Tracks for over two years. I was very upset to find out that it is being discontinued. My Tracks always does exactly what I wanted, gives me maps and info I need, and is much cleaner and easier to use than most other apps. Very disappointed that one of my top-used apps is getting killed in favor of lesser apps. :(

Does anyone read your reviews? Every user one here does not want you to kill this app... Another good app by Google trashed by bad management decisions.

This is the best running and cycling tracking app that I have tried (out of around 20!). It is a HUGE disappointment that the app will stop working after April 30th. I nearly bought a moto 360 sport because I could use this app on it - very lucky to have avoided error! I'll buy a garmin watch instead!

This is one of the best apps (and easiest) to track specifically for walking. This provides me distance, elevation and GPS tracking. I'm disappointed to hear they are retiring this product without having a replacement.

Now it is deprecated! Does not work. Google probably use this app to get the what they wanted from us users then rolled it into something they could make money off of something heavy and Bloated. Wish they would bring it back or somebody else would it's a great simple clean way to track individual routes

This is by far the best tracking app I have found! I have used it for years now and I love how it can be used offline and integrates with Google Maps, it will suck balls if you kill it!

This the best GPS tracking app I have ever found. I have used it for years and I feel terrible that you aren't keeping it alive. Please at least let me keep using it, even if you don't update it anymore.

Please DO NOT DISCONTINUE.... The way it provides speed-elevation graph and stats, is easy and helpful to study the track, especially hilly terrains. I've recently started using it and totally love it. Please do not discontinue this small simple app

It's great for recording walks and keep fit purposes. Nothing else I have found works as well. Please just let it be available without updates if you must.
