Motorola used to be good about phone updates. Phones were guaranteed at least 2 OS upgrades, even older models. Since Lenovo took over, that's no longer the case. We're forced to buy a newer phone every 1-2 years for more recent OSs. Plus, the rollouts for upgrades take forever. By the time my Moto G5 Plus finally updated to Android 8.1, phones of equal value were already on 9.0. Yet Lenovo has already said the G5, and even G6, models aren't eligible for upgrades beyond Oreo 8.1. Total rip-off.

stuck Several times I have tried to deny yet another update. You would think I could, considering this is my phone. However, the only thing it does is delay the update and on a later date updates anyway without permission. I have gone into the app and selected "disable". Upon updating my new moto7 or at least I tried, after a slow several minutes I was told that to complete the process I needed to go to Wi-Fi and I soon learned that my phone would not hook up to an available Wi-Fi signal that I know was active because the librarian hooked up to it successfully. After 3 different attempts in 3 different days I gave up. Using Motorola apps was not successful. Oh well that's what I get for buying a Motorola cellphone.

Go to Settings, under Security & Location scroll all the way down to "Apps with Usage Access" hit that You'll find "Motorola Notifications" Turn it off .. then go into your Motorola Notifications by taping the Icon & you'll see where it's running in the background... Not happy with this. I was as meticulous about locking down all the permissions so that my new phone would not do any updates, unless I specified. Have it set so that if it does, they are over WiFi only. Nope, nope, and nope. Software was updated somehow while I was in transit, via cellular with 1.25gb, and Google as well. I know Google is metastasized to everything, but I think I only use it for navagating, and play store. With this new update I've lost the 65gb of music I had on my phone, and my photos and videos are stuck and cannot delete them. I've got a few hours of attempting to recover what was in good working condition before these updates. Why give the consumer an option to deny something if your going to do it anyway, that's not a good practice.

I got a Moto g7 and it is by far the best phone I've had. I had a I phone 4s and I prefer this one. The screen is great to watch movies and play games on. Last year I got through no fewer than 2 brand new Nokia's and 2 second hand ones well in 14 months. I'm not saying it was all Nokia's fault but I've dropped this one and it still runs beautifully.

Unintentionally updated to Oreo, now Moto G3 phone acting screwy... No notifications, or ability to access notification pull down buttons for quick access. Seemly not logged into Google profile except when directly using specific apps. Screen goes to black within a few moments when idle on most apps (power button restores, temporarily), And prompts to update software now way too frequent.

The update service is terrible. After a week if downloading the new motorola update on my moto E4, it has deleted all my social media apps and other apps with it. Whe i try to download those apps again my phone powers off and turns back on after, with less battery and less apps. Im seriously debating to change to a different brand of phone as motorola dont fix the viruses withing the updates. I cant leave my phone off charge or otherwise the battery will drop withing 30 minutes to an hour.

This system app is a real pain in the ass. It doesn't allow you to decline to do updates. You have to know to force stop it and clear its cache every time you reboot, to get it to lay off with the incessant interruptions to demand doing updates.

I own a Moto g5 plus and it was promised that the Oreo update would be rolled out soon, but unfortunately the Android 'P' (Pie) has been released but still there's no sign of OS update rolling out for Moto g5 series. The only update which have been provided are those security updates.. That's good but "we", (Moto g5 series owners really want the Oreo update in India.. "We" (Moto g5 plus and Moto g5s plus owners deserve this update/upgrade..!!

Garbage! Hate it. Can't roll back updates and it installs bloatware without end-user permission each time using up precious data. Motorola who the hell do you think you are? You need us as customers way more than we'll ever need you! Going with Samsung phones from now on unless I see some drastic changes very soon. Even ZTE is better than Motorola now, sad.

Even after restoring boot partition the app refused to install the update, plus it keeps popping up trying to install hundreds of times per day wasting all the battery instead of offering a cancel button it is stuck in an infinite loop. Freaking ridiculous

I only use my moto E5 play for wifi and this app seems to be using a lot of data and battery in the background. I'm already using the current OS and so there is no need for this process to still be running.

Once I selected the download method I was unable to go back and change it. Wifi was way too slow. Unable to change to data. 300 plus minutes to download is unacceptable.

Device says my latest update is still out of date. The day I got an update it was already out of date. Manufacturer cannot provide quality updates in a timely manner, the reason I bought this phone. I would not recommend any device using this service as you'll never be up to date, just like me

Last update has caused my moto e gen 4 to drain and discharge battery within 4 hours of full charge. Even while turned off. New battery, reboot, cleaning catch and factory reset did not help. I'm ready to swip to Iphone because of this!

This "service" is no service. It interrupts your service EVERY DAY to remind you of an update thst is ALREADY installed. And as far as I can tell, there is no way to turn it off or uninstall the "service." Boo hiss.

i will never buy another Motorola as long as i live all preinstalled apps are horribly intrusive and damaging at best to the google infrastructure of google accounts. no way to uninstall unless rooted and i suppose i will need to root my phone now. i am stuck on google 7.1Lin dino version of OS POS the other option the tech support offered was "that someone might make a plugin for my device someday haha" but will never get the latest udate of google which is necessary to prevent maleware on all

This app hijacks the entire system and will not allow you to do manual disabling. It asks do you want the download that includes Metro Play but won't let you say no and I do not want nor do I need to get a new Play app.
