The method of the loci, method of the places or more recently palace of the memory, is a mnemonic method, or "art of memory", practiced since Antiquity; the poet Simonide of Ceos would be the inventor. It is mainly used to memorize long lists of ordered elements. It is based on the memory of places already well known, to which we associate by various means the new elements that we wish to memorize.
