Metal Detector is in the 3rd set of the Smart Tools collection. This app measures magnetic field with an embedded magnetic sensor. The magnetic field level (EMF) in nature is about 49μT(micro tesla) or 490mG(milli gauss); 1μT = 10mG. When any metal(steel, iron) is near, magnetic field level will increase. Usage is simple: Open the app, and move it around. The magnetic field level will constantly fluctuate. That's it! You can find electrical wires in the walls (like a stud detector) and iron pipes in the ground. A lot of ghost hunters had downloaded this app, and they had experimented as a ghost detector. The accuracy depends entirely on your magnetic sensor (magnetometer). First of all... for some odd reason, there is no ads, so really nice and more importantly, it actually works! As soon as i downloaded it, I grabbed a magnet and it sensed it. Works for anything else with a magnetic field. 5 star fo sho!!!

This app is awesome. We lost the location of a metal base for our laundry drier in our yard. I went to roughly where I thought it was in the yard and, using the app, scanned the area. It picked it up (buried under about and inch of dirt) in 1 minute.

I have used & written about the use of this app for measuring magnetic fields than can accidentally change the settings of programmable shunt implants since 2010. But the developer has now chosen to inundate the app with ads, diminishing the accessibility of this app. I would not recommend it for any medical use today.

It works but depends on the device to have the sensor and does not work with all metals, only with the one that are attracted by a magnet

This App really works, its beeps when the phone is very close to the metal. My request to the developer of this app, Please add coil option so that the user can attach the headphones and use it as a external coil for longer range metal detection.

I was skeptical, as I didn't know my phone could do this, but it works great! I think my magnetic detector on my phone is limited to distance though. It only works within an inch or two.

Technically works but only detects ferrous metals so no gold, silver, brass, copper etc. Only steel/iron. Basically if its magnetic. But cool none the less.

Really great app. I was looking around and wondered why it kept going pink on my bed. Lol it defects the inner Springs. I like it 😊
