What's new
This version fixes an issue where bird sighting data could not be added
Description
Little is still known of the distribution and population trends of most mammals in the UK. This free app can be used to help address this problem.
To make recording mammals simpler this new app version brings together both Mammal Mapper and Mammal Tracker.
Mammal Mapper v3 allows you to record sightings as part of a survey and ad hoc sightings. When running a survey the app records your route and its duration along with the number and location of animals seen. The app also allows you to collect other valuable information such as how far away and where the animal was in relation to your position. It also allows you to upload images of your sightings, where these are possible. Surveys are much more valuable than isolated records since they allow the absence of species and animal densities to be inferred.
Ad hoc sightings can be added whenever you don't have the time to do a survey or when you come across something you wish to record quickly.
All terrestrial mammals (now including bats as a general group) can be recorded.
