Link2SD uses a secondary partition on your SD card and uses it as another segment of internal storage.

Link2SD moves apk, dalvik-cache (.dex), lib and internal data files into this partition, which the OS mounts on boot, and creates a symbolic link in the original location.

This retains the file structure that the system expects but with the bulk of the data moved to the SD card.

On devices that have emulated SD card, obb and external data folders are located in the internal storage, not in the external (real) SD card.

Link2SD moves these folders to the 1st or the 2nd partition of your external SD card (depending on your selection) and with the bind option of the mount command remounts the file hierarchy at external SD card while it is still available at the original location.

- root permission

- second partition on SD card

You should have two partitions on your SD card and both should be primary.

You need to use a non-FAT file system (ext2, ext3, ext4 or f2fs) on your 2nd partition in order to link app's private data files. Because the FAT file system (FAT16, FAT32 or exFAT) does not support UNIX file ownership or permissions and will cause a security breakdown of app's private files.

Link2SD does not create the second partition, you need to create it yourself.

- root permission

Second partition on SD card is optional, folders can be moved to the 1st or 2nd second partition of the SD card.

Link2SD also provides native App2SD feature of Android OS. It can move any user apps to SD card (force move), with batch moving capability.

Link2SD is a free (ad supported) app, you can upgrade to Link2SD Plus to remove ads and get additional features.

Reviews From google play store

USE WITH CAUTION. My prior review was 5 stars because this is a SUPERB application, but I encountered a problem. After a couple of years, the 2d partition (ext4) of my external sd card dynamited leaving some essential system files isolated and preventing boot with the sd installed. I could not unlink them because there is no access to that corrupt partition and uninstall LinkToSd was no help. I had to reset a 5 year old tablet to factory defaults. Retrospect solution: periodically clone ext sd.

Hello dev, I just installed android 10 on my redmi note 4. Also installed magisk. Root is obtainted. I can edit files using root file manager. But link2sd cannot find root in android 10. It gives error when converting user apps to system app - "Failure mount system not on proc mount"

In a rooted phone it let's you move some native internal apps to sd card and free up internal memory. You can leave card in fat32 format so if phone dies you can take card out to access. AN altenative to reformatting sd card in Android 6 as internal me extension. Works on my Samsung s5 mini Android 6.1 Recommended in rooted phone. Brilliant app and works well, ads are not too intrusive. Thanks to developers. I advise don't use the "integrate into system" function as program disappears.

The text in the GUI is crowded together so it gets hidden so you can't even see what the damn thing says. Seems like no one provides a functional partition app on Google since this app is so popular, I even brought the pro version, you think that include the ability to make a partition. Also requires root access no trac phone can be rooted so this leaves a lot of us hanging because many many many people have Tracfones

Bought pro licence but can't use the app as my phone isn't rooted. Now that I look more closely, this is stated in the 'about' section but it should be bold and at the top. Most people, me included, cannot use this app.

Strange I paid for the full version and it says I did in my Google account but when I tried its asking for me to pay again I paid $2.67 before the new version asking $2.32 please fix this

Very useful app thank you! I have one issue that I hope you can solve for me. When I integrate an app update into system, I lose that app's data/settings and have to reconfigure it every time. Thanks in advance for any solution. Like perhaps future Link2SD versions could track/backup/rename the /data/app_name folder as well.

Are you trojan horsing me? Good thing i have access detection measure and identify your apps lurking behind me for unnecessary information and execution. Becareful guys, this app is looking for sensitive data and its not for ads preferences. Unless you know how to counteract and immobilized this, better don't use this app. Uninstall and reported.

Pointless app for my tablet (Samsung Tab E,) all it does is send me to the app info tab to move apps from internal storage to the sd card. I can do that myself. I wanted an app that I could move multiple apps at the same time. Moving individual apps is a waste of my time.

Doesn't work on Android 10, I always get a mounting error (maybe due to magisk) please fix it in a future update.

view network connections
Allows the app to view information about network connections such as which networks exist and are connected.

delete all app cache data
Allows the app to free phone storage by deleting files in the cache directories of other applications. This may cause other applications to start up more slowly as they need to re-retrieve their data.

measure app storage space

full network access
Allows the app to create network sockets and use custom network protocols. The browser and other applications provide means to send data to the internet, so this permission is not required to send data to the internet.
