Förutom själva uppslagsordet innehåller lexikonen information om uttal, ordböjning, ordklass och översättning. Oftast finns det även grammatikkommentarer, ordförklaringar, stilkommentarer, sakupplysningar, grammatiska konstruktioner och språkexempel. Uppslagsord Uppslagsformen består normalt av ett enda ord men kan också vara ett längre uttryck, särskilt i sammansatta verb (t.ex. tycker om) och samhällsord (t.ex. allmän rättshjälp). Uppslagsord som består av sammansättningar är avdelade med lodstreck. Denna markering är i första hand till för att förkorta ordets böjningsangivelse och ska inte ses som en helt genomförd uppdelning i sammansättningsleder. Uppslagsorden kan följas av en alternativform som vanligen har samma uttal men annan stavning, t.ex. sjal eller schal. Observera att uttal och böjning gäller uppslagsordet snarare än alternativformen. Uttal Lexin togs ursprungligen fram för att användas i invandrarundervisningen, dvs. av personer som ska lära sig svenska. Detta innebär att uttalsangivelser endast finns för svenska ord. Längd Långt ljud betecknas med kolon omedelbart efter det långa ljudet, t.ex. skalla [²sk'al:a] och skala [²sk'a:la] Kvalitet Vad gäller vokalerna kommer kolon även att beteckna kvalitet, t.ex. mat [ma:t] och matt [mat:] Ordaccent Endast grav accent sätts ut. Den markeras med en upphöjd tvåa framför ordet (se exemplen under Längd ovan). Grav accent finns i t.ex. bùren (till bära) medan akut accent finns i búren (till bur). Tryck Huvudtryck markeras genom apostrof framför vokalen i den betonade stavelsen, t.ex. ABF [a:be:'ef] och ide [²'i:de]. Enstaviga ord får ingen sådan tryckmarkering utom i uttryck med verb + partikel och reflexiva verb vilka sammanskrivs, t.ex. tycker om [tyk:er'åm:] och ger sig [j'ersej]. Bitryck i sammansättningar kan utläsas ur längdmarkeringen. Det sista förlängda ljudet får bitryck, t.ex. utslagsröst [²'u:tsla:gsrös:t]. Konsonanterna Inga speciella symboler används för [tj], [sj] och [ng], t.ex. tjugo [²tj'u:ge] och [²sj'ung:a]. Den supradental som finns i vissa dialekter markeras med ett underslag under de två segmenten, t.ex. bord [bo:r_d], barn [ba:r_n], fort [for_t:] och törst [tör_s:t]. In addition to the actual dictionary, the lexicon contains information about pronunciation, word bending, word class and translation. Usually there are also grammar comments, glossaries, style comments, facts, grammatical constructs and language examples. This marking is primarily intended to shorten the wording of the word and should not be regarded as a fully implemented division in the composition leader. The dictionary can be followed by an alternative form that usually has the same pronunciation but another spelling, eg. shawl or shawl. One-word words get no such marking except in expressions with verb + particle and reflexive verbs which are written together, eg. likes [thick: er'm:] and gives [j'ersej]. Bit printing in compositions can be read from the length mark. The last extended sound gets bit pressure, e.g. rash [²'u: tsla: gsrös: t]. An exception is those compositions where the joints are separated by a line - in such cases only the bend of the poster is reproduced, e.g. the time of the guy.
