Description

From the listing uploaded by “appupdater”.

Pakistan is an agrarian economy blessed with four seasons and topographies suitable for most of the crops, orchards and forestry. Agriculture contributes around 20% in the GDP and provides raw material to large scale manufacturers besides key source of income for transportation, wholesale & retail, insurance and banking sectors. Around 70% of country’s population is dependent on agriculture for their livelihood. However, agriculture has largely remained under performed with far less per acre yields compared with regional and international standards. The sector suffers compound problems of lack of physical assets, financial support and human resource development. The problems have aggravated by farmers inability to adopt technological advancements besides rapid climate change and non-conducive policy constraints including devolution of agriculture and allied issues. As such, the area and yields are stagnant since more than a decade. Information and communication technology (ICT) services involve the transfer of practical knowledge and exchange of market information through ICT platforms. These solutions are relevant to agricultural and rural transformation processes, especially for small holders. Growth in the use of internet and mobile technology by farmers is emerging as game changer in the provision of information and extension services. People who work in agriculture, especially the new generation farmers, are increasingly adopting digital and mobile technology to manage their farming activities. Kissan Dost App for Agriculture covers the following dimensions: Commodity and input prices News updates Weather alerts Farm Management Tell Us and Ask Us The information provided in the App are both from primary and secondary sources. News and Weather updates are covered from published information and indigenous news and evens reported from the grass root level. Tell Us and Ask Us will enable Triple Is to improve the service while developing relationship with farming community. We acknowledge all the sources of information known or unknown including videos and other market information wherever possible.
