IDEA Identity Easy Access

IDEA Identity Easy Access is the App developed by the State Printing and Mint Institute for reading and verifying RFID chips compliant with ICAO 9303 regulation on electronic travel documents.

The application, available for smartphones with Android operating system and NFC interface, performs optical scanning of the Machine Readable Zone (MRZ) of an electronic document, i.e. the area made up of 2 or 3 alphanumeric lines containing some of the information printed in the visible part of the document.
In this way it obtains the access keys to the chip, displays the personal data protected by BAC on the screen of the device in use and carries out the security checks necessary to verify the authenticity of the document.

With IDEA, therefore, the owner of an electronic document (electronic identity card, electronic passport, electronic residence permit) can check its correct functioning, verify its authenticity and verify that the data stored in the chip corresponds to what is printed in the visible area .

This version of the App is optimized for documents issued by the Italian State.
Subsequent releases will be aimed at verifying the authenticity of electronic documents issued by foreign countries.
