Allows the app to get your approximate location. This location is derived by location services using network location sources such as cell towers and Wi-Fi. These location services must be turned on and available to your device for the app to use them. Apps may use this to determine approximately where you are.
view network connections
Allows the app to view information about network connections such as which networks exist and are connected.
view Wi-Fi connections
Allows the app to view information about Wi-Fi networking, such as whether Wi-Fi is enabled and name of connected Wi-Fi devices.
GET ACCOUNTS
Allows access to the list of accounts in the Accounts Service.
full network access
Allows the app to create network sockets and use custom network protocols. The browser and other applications provide means to send data to the internet, so this permission is not required to send data to the internet.
run at startup
Allows the app to have itself started as soon as the system has finished booting. This can make it take longer to start the phone and allow the app to slow down the overall phone by always running.
prevent phone from sleeping
Allows the app to prevent the phone from going to sleep.
In-App billing
In-app Billing on Google Play provides a straightforward, simple interface for sending In-app Billing requests and managing In-app Billing transactions using Google Play.
receive data from Internet
Allows apps to accept cloud to device messages sent by the app's service. Using this service will incur data usage. Malicious apps could cause excess data usage.

The app is good (as is the website) with one major issue - the amount of storage it uses, my device reported data storage of nearly 4.5gb, I deleted the data and the cache and data use went down to just over 1mb. I'll be monitoring this and if it increases again I'll have to switch to using my browser

deutschland You need to fix your sign in function. It shouldn't take several tries to sign in. And yes, I've had the right password every time, but signing in shouldn't be this frustrating, whether it's by in-house password or signing in by Yahoo password. Keep it simple, stupid.

Huffpost has stopped working since this morning, it opens and all I get is a black screen. I have rebooted my phone, a oneplus 6, I have cleared the cache and storage to no effect. I have uninstalled it and reinstalled it but the problem persists. The app has always worked reliably prior to today.

Cannot easily change privacy options without getting lost in built up maze of inconsequential links. Uninstalled. Get your acts together Verizon and you can have your readers back. * Update to Verizon comments* : you guys give us links to all your partners in privacy options - and we have to find out how on separate websites how to block privacy options for each ones? Lame! Check the competition, Reuters to name one to see how CUSTOMER FRIENDLY this process should be and join the 21st century.

Absolutely great. My favorite news app. Works well and has great variety. Sadly I am disgusted by the factual stories of our president's behavior who I used to support but glad to be informed of the daily outrages. Thank you so much for this app and your efforts to keep us informed. We need you now more than any time in my life. If all Americans followed Huff Post we would be in a much better place. Rapid & time-sensitive postings of fact-based journalism that keep the reader up-to-date on a variety of personalized points of interest. After five years of following Huff Post, one of the primary benefits has been the ability to have brief, but fully relevant, stories at my fingertips. Timely updates on a story are also a major difference over competitors. I am hooked on my daily feeds!

Huff Post is a wonderful source of news. The app used to be fine. Recenly, it has become a problem on my Galaxy Note 4. It freezes up, then closes and I have open it again and scroll down to find the article I had been reading, hoping that it won't freeze again. I've uninstalled the app, then reinstalled it. It still freezes and turns off.

I'm a fan of Huffington Post. I've been a reader for years. The app on my iPhone 6S Plus worked great. I had to switch back to an Android six months ago. Every time I try to read an article, the app just goes black and shuts down. I can't even get through 1 article without it shutting down. Not the content, but the app simply does not function on my Android Samsung. I have to use Chrome or another browser to access the website directly because the app is useless and frustrating.

Since the recent Android system update, Huff Post has been acting strangely. It starts when asked to "OK" privacy details before seeing some reports. The "OK" button is almost covered by an advert and difficult to access. This brings up a choice of using the app or a browser to see the news article. If i choose the app, the article page is blank. If you then go "Home" the app will not close or go into the background. I have uninstalled and re-installed several times, but it keeps happening.

Usually I love the app but at the moment it is a pain. When the Oath consent button comes up on the app, you press it and go through to the website. Then you go back to the app to read the same article and Oath consent button is still there, blocking your access to reading the article. Plus you have advertisements running on top of the Oath consent button so it is difficult to press the button without pressing the advert. I'm sure under GDPR that is not allowed. All in all this is not helpful!!

It's ok. Years ago it was fantastic. Now the articles have so many grammatical errors. Who is not proof reading them before the article is posted? The size of most categories have shrunk to just a few articles while other categories are nothing but repetitive articles. Some categories keep the same article for weeks. Definitely not The Huffington Post of years past. Sad because at one point even the news would use the articles as a reference. Now , they don't even bother with Huffington.

Constantly crashes. Lucky if I can get two articles open before crashing. Each update makes it worse. I uninstalled, reinstalled too many times to count. Content is ok but who cares if you can't read it. Update 2/7/19: Continues to crash and freeze. I've sent numerous file logs, etc., and nothing changes. I'm done and uninstalling this app. Too bad HuffPo can't get their act together and fix the issue.

It just directs me to the main news page and when I go to see if I'm logged in, I'm not! FIX this annoying bug on your end please! Update: I updated the app and the log in option, is no longer there! I've used and enjoyed this app for years. I appreciate the alerts and the point of view of HuffPost altogether. Today I opened the app once to read a headline, then closed it again. In the background it used 4.3GB of mobile data. Uninstalled immediately and, as this is likely going to cost me a fortune, I can't fathom installing the app again.

Edit: I have updated the app, since that seems to be the only fix available. Nothing has changed. I have cleared the cache on my phone, force stopped the app, etc. I'm considering deleting the app because I'm tired of trying to read news and it crashing. It's not just GOT articles now, it's any random article. Hopefully you fix this soon. Edit #2 I HAVE uninstalled and reinstalled. Have YOU tried to do anything instead of troubleshooting through reviews?

Something's busted with the app with a recent update as the text from articles no longer formats correctly as words are missing from the ends of sentences and the only way to see them is to change the orientation of your phone to rotate the view. At first I thought it was related to the standard vertical/portrait orientation, but even when viewing horizontally/landscape, words will still get cut off.

App has serious stability issue. Crashes inexplicably. Have never had this problem with any other app I've installed from a top-flight news co. By crash I mean the following: As one scrolls down reading a news story one may encounter a photo. As one scrolls past the photo the screen starts blinking on and off. The unblinking svreen may or may not return. Easier to read the Post in a web browser.

unable to access privacy dashboard. I quit! It was nice of the HuffPost developer to reply to my negative review with a link to help me out - unfortunately the link took me to the same place where I cannot get to the place to adjust my privacy settings. After the Captcha screen, all I get is "We are unable to process your request" START AGAIN. Well, I'm not going to. Bye, HuffPost! 3RD ATTEMPT Thanks for the guidance. I followed it and cleared the cache. But till no luck. Here's the sequence: Try to load HuffPost. Opens. Try to open a Story. Goes to "Manage options". Choose Manage. Get "Our partners" Choose Privacy Dashboard". Get "Welcome to the Oath privacy centre". Choose "Privacy dashboard" (again!). Get "Your privacy dashboard". Choose "HuffPost". Get "prove you're not a robot". I prove it. Choose "Continue". SAME RESULT: "UNABLE TO PROCESS YOUR REQUEST". MY CONCLUSION - HUFFPOST DOES NOT WANT ME TO CONTROL MY PRIVACY SETTINGS! BYE BYE HUFFPOST! (but thanks for your efforts to try to solve the problem!)

The 3 links at the end of each article are not working anymore. Pressing at them does nothing. I have already tried uninstalling and re-installing the app. *UPDATE* I have sent an email, but still, even after the new update, the problem is not solved. *UPDATE 2* After the latest update (17/4/19) the problem is solved.

App doesn't deal well with photos inserted in articles. Causes the text to become unreadable. Now it pauses on the adds, makes it dificult to read the article. Support wants an email, like they can't read this. The Guardian and RT don't have a problem. The news you report isn't important if your app turns people away. Find a new Tech group.

This was a perfectly good news app... until they added an 'alerts' section. Now, despite turning 'alerts' off in the settings... the 'alerts' section is full of 'alerts' with a notification counter lit up telling me I have unread alerts. Unread alerts? I shouldn't have any at all!!! I turned that crud off! Uninstalled until that section is removed and an apology given.

I dont have a problem with the content. But the app has serious problems. It crashes repeatedly,, making it a waist of time to constantly reopen , locate and continue reading!! Controls overlap as well. Uninstalling and reinstalling does not fix these issues. You would think Huff would have a better tec team than to allow this wonky app to influence its success in readership. For those of us who have read the Huff for decades, tho loyal, think you'd better get up to snuff or loose out

Nothing but political smear campaigns - I used to love the Huff Post when they had a variety of topics and actual news, but now it is nothing but constant political garbage. Even the "entertainment" section only consists of anti Trump articles. Regardless of your political stance, if you want to read any news other than anti Trump articles, this is not the app for you.

Just installed it at 09-13-18 at 1805 CST. First, the damned thing can only install to my internal memory card; valuable real estate; not to my SD card. Signal of a stupid app developer. Next, your app didn't even play the ads!!! How will you make money? Next, this is an app, which I know hooks into my browser on my phone. But when trying to view in full screen it says "full screen is not supported on your browser". My Samsung Internet app AND Chrome both play in full screen. So the app developer went to the trouble of frickin' lying in his ERROR MESSAGES. Huffpost, if you paid a guy to make this, you got robbed.

worst app I've ever used hands down. I've been trying to work with their support team to mitigate the issues I've been having with the app for months now but to no avail. I've never seen an application work worse on a desktop vs a mobile device until now. I don't know how this app passed testing to be released into production. I'm starting to wonder if they don't have any QA and it's just the developers doing unit testing and that's it.

The news is up-to-the-minute, but the app frequently shuts down on a random basis. I have other news apps...Microsoft News and Yahoo News...and they never just shut down for no reason. It's getting pretty annoying to be in the middle of reading an article and it just shuts down!

I used to use this app a lot but am now uninstalling because of the auto play ads... I don't appreciate ads that play automatically, taking over my phone! It is really disruptive and annoying. I greatly enjoy the content on huffpost but I dislike how videos at the top of most articles begin with the volume automatically set on mute when it runs the initial commercial ad and then while attempting to touch the video to bring up the video controls to unmute it, it redirects to a site related to the commercial being shown. Would be nice to just enjoy the video content and use the video controls without being redirected to another web page that im not interested in during the process.

I used to really enjoy HuffPost. 10/5 I've reinstalled the app and it seems like it is working fine now. Will continue to to monitor.

App crashes every time I click on a Huffpost article on google. Articles are 1-2 years old, bring up app automatically & app crashes. Irritating & time consuming when researching topics. Maybe if older articles cannot be viewed on app, do not link to app & automatically open on internet. Ok? Articles before certain dates or Date minus 365 or whatever

The app has one very simple problem: it crashes every time I try to read a story. I have sent feedback with crash logs pretty much daily for a month, but nobody has bothered to send an auto-reply. Apparently the developers just don't care.

I have visited Huffington post since Day 1. I removed the app when the Huffpost folks decided that autoplay was a good idea. Suddenly a random news video starts up. Scares the bejeebers out of me. I let my little niece use the phone for kiddy games. Huffpost was open and started up in the background. She thought she broke the phone. Honestly, if someone has the app and has been a loyal reader, why create a nuisance? Motto: Don't be a nuisance!

This app cuts off news stories mid sentence. Also because of all the ads the text keeps jumping around reorienting itself. Uninstalling the app. I use a Google Pixel XL. Update: after hearing from developer will reinstall and await fix. Will update rating when it works. Thanks!

Best method of displaying ads of all news apps. You can scroll right by them if you wish to and you have a clean page to read. (Politico is the worst, with a FLASHING add at the bottom of the page that you can't navigate around) The coverage is also excellent!

I prefer the last update. The layout of buttons have been rethought and the whole appearance is much more comely and user-friendly. However, I'd like to receive news about everything and anything, not only major headings.

Hp has ignored multiple emails and comments from multiple people who are trying to mute the obvious trolls that post 24/7/365 you use the mute function and there are 5 or 6 hardcore disruptive people who just post noise to keep any kind of intelligent conversation from taking place. You mute them and they are back almost instantly. Seems like they're working for hp to keep the rage and clicks going. Strange also that we see new troll accounts made daily and they're already at leader level.

App will crash when I click on an an article, any article, EVERY time. Has steadily deteriorated over the last six months. the mobile site became unworkable due to constant pop ups telling me to use an unstable app that cover half of the screen.

I am satisfied with the news content that is covered in the App. The written content varies across the spectrum covering different topics that allow you to choose from a number of editorials to focus your attention on depending on what you are in the mood to read or you would like to keep up to date and well informed on what is trending in the headlines currently.

First off, the app is now garbage, and consistantly crashes every 2 minutes. Secondly, they're extreamly bias, downright racist, and very sexist. In the past 3 years, this has become the least honest news source, in the mainstream. I've used this app for 7+ years, but the journalistic integrity is completely gone. It's now just a far-left propaganda app. The "Fox News" of the left.

The Huffington Post app contains written joirnalistic content covering more specific areas/special interests/perspectives that would offer at least something that would likely be of interest to most news readers browsing the app. The app has an organized design and the user/news reader can help the app function smoother and reduce waste/scrolling by choosing the user's favourite news areas in the user menu contained in the app.

This app has multiple trackers built in to it that watch all activity on your phone. Amazon purchases and cursory web searches slowly repopulate ads that match your activity. NEVER gave any permission to this app to constantly monitor all of my phones actions... Will be deleting and contacting huffpost directly.

Changed and not for the better. If your familiar with the Huffpost, you'll see what I mean. The content has become much more sensationalized and no longer reflects what (I think) is actually newsworthy and important to Americans. Intelligent readers won't stay for long.
