Great app, but since the update it keeps asking me for authentication by text, then after you enter the code all I have is a blank screen. I've tried restarting the app but it just keeps asking for authentication and to set up a pin again.

Application is the best But : Need to do something for self-employed to calculate the company or agency you are working to see how and when pay this 20% tax and to be clear how much yo earn to be a simple way for everyone not just for employees 🤘🏻

I've only just scanned the app briefly but seems very informative. I haven't seen any ads on the app yet. But the fewer the better.

Have no issues on my old phone, got a new phone at the beginning of the year and tried to log in, asks me to confirm it's me by selecting 2 forms of verification I can use, it only gives me options for a UK passport (which I have) and an Northern Ireland driving licence. Which I do not have since I live in England and don't drive, meaning now I can't access my account on my new phone.

The app seems pretty good for accessing basic information, but I would have thought I'd be able to do a lot more with it. Also when I click on a link, leaving the page I'm on, I cannot return to the page without going through security each time, which is a little annoying. Personally, I thought the app would be more self-contained with everything in one place.

What an idiot designed this app, identity verification, so It says I can choose from uk passport, payslips or p60, self assessment, tax credits, northern Ireland driving license. I'm pushing forward and I can chose only from uk passport (which I haven't got), tax credits (that's ok) and Ireland driving licence ( I haven't got because I live and pay taxes in UK) so I can't proceed verification. Completely rubbish app!!!

Like everything in the UK, identity step FAILS. It shouldn't be this hard. I'm sat here in the location I'm using to register, to get started. "Records don't match" please use my gateway as a 4 sided, digital suppository right up the Government's gateway.

HMRC can't you see every other user is facing issues logging in.Why it is not resolved?I am trying to log in for the past few days. When I used to go to app to generate code, it asks for my verification, when I answered all the questions, it says, the info does not match. Called the helpline, told to verify through PostOffice website, asks to Scan my Passport and take a selfie so the web page will refresh and go to next step automatically. It stayed on the same page despite trying several times.

UPDATE:Have tried on and off for 18 months and it does not work for an ex pat. Forgot I had tried every which way, and was sucked in again: I found my wife's Government ID and password so entered it into the HMRC app to get in and ... was told to enter the Access code from (inside) the HMRC app to open the HMRC app!! Honest to God, you cannot make this stuff up - no-one would believe you. Here is my guess - the IT department fools cannot make a test ID (because it is impossible) so therefore to their thinking cannot test the app. Welcometo bureaucratic double think. Idiots. Or, this is always a good one, it works inside their intranet but nowherer else so no-one has tested it from outside. Having worked in IT for decades, I know there will be tons of people in HMRC IT that know it does not work but feel it is not worth the trouble of raising it and being labelled a "loose cannon" - the public service term for someone who tries to get things to work properly, and therefore creates work for their bosses who are hiding out at home scratching their privates. They were the same in the office anyway. This is a bumbling, Fawlty towers, IMPOSSIBLE process to get a government ID as an ex-pat. I keep on thinking it might work and get stuck in yet another endless loop all the time because of this "validator" app: Create a new government gateway account --> get prompted for validation code from HMRC app --> go to app --> requires government Gateway ID to open the app to get the validation code! Hilarious if it wasn't so pathetic. No testing of this use case at all. But no, there's more! My wife has an ID, but has forget her password --> click on 'enter email to get password' --> open email and enter the validation code from the email --> continue --> enter validation code from HMRC app --> open HMRC app --> "Enter ID" AND PASSWORD HAHAHAHAHAHAHAH. The process to retrieve your password requires your password!! OH WELL, FILL IN A FORM AND SEND IT VIA THE POST AND WAIT 3 MONTHS TO GET AN ANSWER. The board should tell the CIO what a business system is and also what an end-to-end process is (clue: it's the whole process not just one app within it, tested in isolation ) then ask him what the hell he thinks he is doing, and sack him.
