Reviews From google play store

First off, the three stars suggests I like it and needs more improvements to make it better. I really have one suggestion at the moment: Please provide an option for either reading a book (paperback/hardback/physical), ebook, and, more importantly, audio. I have to go back to the website to change the format, the percent reading progress provides a good update don't get me wrong. I like my updates to be accurate as possible. Hopefully, you can do this one change if you review the app later.

I spent hours going through books to add to my collection of books that I would want to read. I was very excited about the app and loved the way it all was laid out. After taking all of this time and getting past the initial interest pages. The app just crashes Everytime I open it and begin to scroll down a couple of times. I have uninstalled and reinstalled only for the issue to continue. Talk about a totally bummer.

Doesn't Have a Good UI First, my "Bookshelf" first goes to friends notifications (not my bookshelf), which I can't customize, so get spammed with notifications of things people want to read. - would be nice to a) customize notifications from friends and b) to go to my bookshelf first and avoid notifications altogether. I can't copy text from group discussions, which is frustrating when they recommend a book I want to look up. - I wish I could copy on the mobile app Otherwise, it's okay.

Hi, I love Goodreads app so so much. It helps me tracks my reading progress and books I've bought (so that I wont't be buying twice). If only you could help me fix certain things. I cannot write comments or reply to anyone comments as it didn't appear in the app, even it does appear in the notification. Although I've gone to the Goodreads website, it still do nothing good as the button reply is missing after I insert words. Could you please help me fix this? 😭

To be frankly honest, I don't really like the "new" Goodreads app. It's not user-friendly (I like the "old" one better). And to add my disappointment here, old reviews that I've written suddenly won't show up in the app (but it still shows up in the website)! Have tried refreshing it but it didn't work and it makes me confused as hell. This is really annoying since I love to see my old reviews to recall what I've read. If the Goodreads app team see my review, please fix this issue. Thank you.

I love this app,but when keeping track of reading progress I wish we could choose Chapters Instead of just Pages and percentage. Other than that this app is great for keeping track of all your books,it doesn't have all the functions of the website. I wish there where some way to use all the same functions on the app as the site such as the recommendations, clubs, giveaways and etc.

I love this app but please add the ability to change editions! Often I will try to change the status of a book on my lists and it will apply the changes to a different edition. For example, I will mark a book on the browser as currently reading, then try to mark it as read in the app, and instead I'll just end up with two editions on my shelves. Second issue is I never get notifications for when people comment on reviews or reply to comment threads I'm following. Please fix!

It's so sad to see that one of my favorite apps is becoming bad! Every time I check books or read reviews that I like, when I want to add that person it blocks and then closes and cancels all that process I made SO ANNOYING and this is only one exp! In conclusion this app lags all the time literally I can't spend more than 3 minutes on it without it closing.. such a turn off. Can't you fix that?? Maybe hire people who r more professional. Consider making some changes in 2020 please.

I love Goodreads. It's a great site to keep track of your personal readings, discovering and discussing books with others as well. However, the app definitely needs improvement. It need to be more friendly to use, more practical. One example is the settings menu, if you wish to change something on your profile you go to settings and all, but once you are done you have to keep tapping back to get back to your main profile or home... That's just annoying as an app user.

Crashes all the time. Can't copy the links to my reviews. When I try to read community reviews, well your message "Goodreads will be back shortly. Use the time to read a book." is really getting old. Maybe it was funny the first time. I can really make a better use of my time than deal with an troublesome app. Latest update didn't fix a problem.

Recommendations aren't personalized. You can't add the same books to multiple lists. The search function doesn't work well. You can't type both title and author, and the title you typed in will almost never be the first result. Results that come before it may not even have that title. Sometimes the book you're looking for doesn't show up at all. This app has so much potential but fails as a place to build a reading community (even just with friends) and fails to do what it advertises.

This app is fairly good at tracking your books. The app will also notify you when authors you are following have new books coming out. However there are a few bugs. The shelves database does not always update correctly or promptly. Books moved to one shelf from another may still appear on the original shelf. Books in the To Read shelf moved to the Currently Reading or Read shelf may stay in the To Read shelf forever. It can be very inconsistent. Despite this I still use this app frequently.

Excellent app for rating and reviewing books. But there are so so so many bugs, some days it won't even stay open for more than 2 seconds before it's "Goodreads keeps stopping". It's not much of an app if you can't use it, please fix it.

Basic functionality is there. I can search for books and see the books I've added. But the app is buggy. For example, if I try to add dates read through this app, they don't "stick" so I have to go to the website to update or I won't get credit for my reading challenge. Also, why no book versions like the iOS app? If I have to go to the website anyway, why use the app?

This app has most of the functionality I enjoy from the website, but I really wish it had the same "main feed" as the website. I like browsing to see what other people are reading. The main page on the app is exclusively updates from friends. It'd be nice to see what the wider community is reading, like you can do on the website. My review would be 5 stars if they added this one feature.

This app is great for tracking my reading progress, stats, and goals. However, the search function is extremely frustrating to use - you pretty much have to type in the exact title to get any results. It's also nearly impossible to search for other users unless someone sends you a link to directly connect with them.

I love goodreads! My absolute favorite book app! I really love the ability to scan the front of a book with my phone and be able to find it in seconds. 💙 I can leave a review, ir not, and keep track of books read, keeping that private or public. I enjoy reading others reviews of books to help decide on my next book. Fabulous app! I'd give it 10 🌟stars if i could!

This app is marginally functional at best. Tried to hit the hyperlinks in the "groups" page and they are unresponsive more than half of the time. Tried to post a response to a friend's book review and I get a "something went wrong" error. Maddeningly quirky.

Books that I have read are still in my 'want to read' list, but when I go that particular book it states as 'read'. This is very weird. Shouldn't it remove from my 'want to read' list? I was clearing books from the 'want to read' list when I saw this. Please be kind enough to fix this! Suggestion - it'll also be cool if I can rate a book by .5. For instance, I want to rate a book 4.5/5 or give it 4 1/2 starts instead of 5 stars.

I've been using this app to keep track of my yearly reading lists and future books to keep in mind. It's easy to search for books and keep things organized. I do find myself doing some heavier organization on the website, and there are several glitches with the date read/finished dates, so I wish the app reflected that better. Only thing I would like to see is a tracking feature where it would keep stats on your reading speed, a timer, pages read, etc.

The app is great. The users provide interesting reviews, making easier the decision on what to read. Also I love the possibility of scanning your own books :) The only thing that is not great (and that's why I am not giving 5 stars) is that you can not add your book and have to settle with those found by the app searching engine even if it is not the same edition you are reading.

Since that update the app is not working properly. When searching for books, or attempting to look at my Want to Read list it states there is a connection error and will not load. I have tried with both Wi-Fi and mobile data with the same result.

I like updating my reads through my phone. But it annoys me that my reviews never get uploaded on the first try. And even when it does, I couldn't read it back. I just wish the app features were the same as you would access through a browser.

I downloaded this app because a friend said she loved it. I have not had it for more than a day, and I am fed up. Everytime I open the app I can maybe add one book to my want to read, and then the app closes. I have restarted my phone, uninstalled and reinstalled the app, and force closed all other apps. Nothing seems to work. I am not sure what else to do, but I won't be using this app until this issue is fixed.

Relatively easy to navigate. Good book cover detection capability. I'm not sure the recommendations are actually personalized - all I'm getting at the "popular now" lists. Issues: 1) App won't connect to Facebook to input friends list. 2) Can't upload a picture for my account. 3) Shelf names are converted to all lower case with hyphens between the words - why is this necessary when the details are capitalized and spaces correctly?

This app sucks. Not only does it have a terrible format, but it's difficult to find types of books you want, as opposed to specific titled. I have to go to chrome to look up the lists there. The search engine is completely inadequate to the point that i feel the need to shame whatever division covers that. Lazy, sloppy work on the part of this app's developers and those covering updates and improvements. Also, i get cut off in the middle of writing reviews. I'm uninstslling this so immediately.

Handy for times when I want to quickly interact with Goodreads using only basic options and controls (versus seeing every available feature and option as is found on their website). Otherwise, the app could use expanding in some ways. For example, detailed book information is not available for every book (publication date, number of editions, series info, etc.)

I'm an avid reader and visit the Goodreads website and app daily. I've also introduced the app to a number of friends and family. My only complaint is how unnecessarily difficult it is to add a friend via the Android app. Please focus on making this feature more user friendly, especially since Goodreads is marketed as a "social" website.

Pretty good app for keeping track of your progress and where you want to go with your reading. Also has good recommendations based on what you've read. As usual, the community is trash. Either the book should be burnt or its the best thing in the world. User reviews are pretentious, elitist or have zero insight into why you should really read the book.

It would be a great app to keep track of what books you have read/listened to however it does not allow you to link your audiobook accounts. I love a good book and want to see what others are reading but I can not share my reads with them since I strictly use audible. Allow us to link audible and I will change my rating.

Good Reads is a well done service. This app however, is tedious to use. How it ever made it out of usability testing is beyond me. Marking a book read, then getting back to your list is five steps, including a misleading dialog about losing what you just entered. Great idea, good service, atrociously designed app.

A great app, but recommedations should be more personalised as I haven't noticed mine change much at all as I add new books, also a half star system of rating rather than just 0-5 would allow much better and more accurate reviewing because currently I'm forced to rank books in the same score category which realistically I would love to be able to put in slighly different categories

I dont know what is going on because I never faced this issue but in my Goodreads account "currently reading" keeps showing as -1 and when I am adding a book into my "Currently reading" status keeps showing zero, very weirdly though when I actually select the book the page keeps showing I am currently reading it, though in the my books section it shows my status as zero! What's going on? Can u please fix it!

This is my fourth time writing this rebiew, but Goodreads keeps dropping it. !y original was much better at describing the efgort that went into the eventual complete translation. But I don't want tp lose another.hour, so what you get: Basil wrote the original in a Genoan dialect, which had been lost for year. The novel describes that process. Eight women are selected to tell tales over the course of a week to try to distract a dissatisfied queen. The stories built on each other to some extemt, but all have a moral point, stated as the narrative ends. The queen forgets her grief and becomes more interested in life as the tales unfold. There is so much more to this novel: historical references, vernacular.phraseology that probably was quite.normal at that time., Customs not heard of now were purported as commonplace in the tales. The whole point is that the stories were meant to illuminate common knowledge in a time before newspapers, novels, or even preaching reached everyone. Morality was elucidated, moral behavior was promoted because bad things happened.... And ogres awaited your every misstep.

Love the app, but since the last update, it isn't working properly anymore. I always get an error saying "authentication failure" and I have to log in again. Can't post any comments in groups. Please fix the issue, it sucks!!!

I absolutely hate the way you place ads so people click on them accidentally. It's deceitful and frustrating. It's even worse on your website. I only use Goodreads because there's no better options. Would give zero stars if I could.

The app isn't nearly as complete as the desktop site, but it's pretty handy for updating your progress and also quickly searching for reviews when you're in a bookstore (and you're not sure if you want to buy this pretty looking book or not).

I love this app. I can keep track of all the books I've read and how much I like them. I love the bookshelves feature. I added a shelf that's just about keeping track of the series I'm currently reading. In my opinion, anyone who rates it badly has not had Good reads long enough to see what it can really do.

Rubbish. Keeps crashing even after the update. And way less features than the website. Edit: yes I did try restarting and reinstalling, didn't help, app won't even open before crashing. Won't bother emailing support, prefer using web version anyway, app is way too basic & has hardly any of the same features.

I can't post comments, not even a single. It just says "there was some problem posting your comment, try later" and I've been trying for 3 days. I'll be compelled to delete my account and uninstall the app if it continues to be so.

"Goodreads will be back shortly" ... again and again This error seems to occur when trying to read more of a reader's review. I've just updated to the latest version. Has it fixed the problem? Certainly not. This is happening far too often, get it fixed!!

Why does the app not correlate with the on line version!! I spent hours on the on-line version, only to find that it has to be done over again. To make it work is a tedious, non-logical process. The scan idea looked great on the first book then didn't read any of the others.

The app is quite good. I use it to keep track of my book collection. I have given 4 stars as I've just encountered an unusual bug. I just finished a book today so I did a quick star rating which moved the book from my Currently Reading shelf to my Read shelf. This changed the counter on my Currently Reading shelf to -1 books instead of 0 books. When I added a new book to the Currently Reading shelf, it changed the counter to 0 books and the new book couldn't be seen on the shelf. Please fix this

I like this app, but I really wish there could be some kind of "translator" tool to translate the synopsis and reviews for books which written not in english language. The Book Scanner tool doesn't work well with the camera. And I agree with other's review about how unpractical the "setting" is 😶

Wrote a review but not sure where it escaped to, so I'm writing again(: As someone who mainly uses gr for easy book hunting and joining the occasional yearly reading challenges, the app works just about as well as the site, with the exception of occasional bugs. One thing I hope for the app to include is the Genres of each book for a better book feel and easier searching!

Used to work great but now i can't add new books to my list. For example, I just marked one as "read" (checked it multiple times) but it doesn't appear on my list at all.

God, this app is infuriating. There should be a way to quickly add a bunch of books to the "read" list. I'm a new user and it's taken me more or less all day too add 150.......

App is very laggy and we can't read books in this app. But the app helps you to keep track of your readings and want to reads. And also you can know a little bit about the book or you can say you will get ab overview of the books by reading the reviews of other people.

Errors something went wrong I can no longer submit reviews and I had no problem before. I uninstalled and shut down my phone and reinstalled the app and still get the same error. I love this app. Please fix the bugs.

I always bite off more than I can chew, but using good reads got me to start keeping track of how many books I have started and not finished. Which has given me the nudge I need to follow through and not start anything else until I have caught up

the search to find the books is not so efficient . could be lot better. it would be more handy if there is a personal journal allocated for each book .

This app has so much potential. Just needs to be developed more. More ability to participate in groups/book clubs through the phone. I know my group would be more active if we could do more from the app.

Love this app for the simple fact that I can keep up with all the books that I have read or want to read. I love updating my progress and reading reviews. Anytime I go to a bookstore I always pull up this app and read reviews on a book.

The last two updates have done nothing to fix the app crashes. It crashes every single time it launches while none of the other apps have the same issue.

Can't log in! Password works fine on laptop browser, but inexplicably not on the app. Keep being asked to authenticate and even with the correct password & capcha getting nowhere.

Got a pixel 4 two weeks ago and the app crashes almost every single time I open it. :sadpanda My pixel 1 was also running Android 10 and had no issues. Help fix the app I love so much.

Disappointed with latest update. I can no longer share to clipboard. It allegedly allows me to do this, but then it's not in the clipboard. Also, I would like to see a copyright date included in the description. Samsung Galaxy 8

I loved this app a lot and it helps me keep tracks of my books that I wanna read. But somehow the app has been crashing. Tried reinstalling the app etc but in vain.

One major flaw If you follow a person, your feed gets bombarded every time they make a new friend. This gets really out of hand when you follow multiple famous people. There should be an option to turn it off.

Well, but unfortunately this app crashes every now and then. This part is quite annoying. The UI is quite good, but it should be more smooth and easy.

Helps me get to know what my friends and favorite authors are reading. Then keep track of what I intend to read in future. Good for reading reviews from the community on books you want to read.

I love the Goodreads. I read a LOT OF books - more than 172 so far, some not released yet. But my reviews are written, ready to post. I gave this four rather than five stars because this android app is rather difficult to manage to begin with.

The search option is buggy, requiring you to be *very* specific with your verbage. I wish we could still share to Facebook our progress, many people don't use Goodreads but love to share their feedback.

I can never access my reviews and others comments on this app. It frequently doesn't load much other than the main pages. I end up using my computer to access more than anything. Pretty disappointing.

It's so better to log in directly from google than actually downloading the app . So many ads , so much buffering , its just plain annoying . I love Goodreads , but downloading the app just ruined it .

Excellent site, disappointing app. Finding books is difficult in app, there is nowhere you can find another versions of a book. And it's the hardest things in the world to find someone's profile and follow them.

This app has a lot of potential, but falls flat. There's no real exploring of genres or recommendations as the lists end up being about 20 books with no option to explore further.

Love the app for what it is intended to do, but I'm giving it one star for the bugs and because of Dino Olivieri. A few updates have passed since i reported his spam and the developers have still not fixed it. This ruins any social aspect of the app.

Dose not set the dates as it should. Painful to work thru. Uninstalled and reinstalled. Still unable to change a book to currently reading. Also not able to note the type of book in the app. Just not as versatile as the web page.

This app used to be great. It would display your 'currently reading', the search function was better, and you could sort reviews by number of stars. Can't do any of that now which makes it pretty annoying.

Overall app is pretty good, but it needs some fixation like typos error in search should at least suggest nearby answer, take some time to load, reviewing without authenticated book purchase which leads to bias in other readers

Great for tracking want to reads but requires SO much clicking to add books that I've read. Perhaps unnecessary to add read books if recommendations are only based on selected genres and not your read shelf (not sure if the case or not)

It's really a great app that I can use for motivating me to keep up with my reading challenge and for keeping track of my books.

I enjoy learning and reading, and this app allows a multitude of books to be at the fingertips; all this one double-tap away! The variety of readings, and the vocabulary and contexts are widespread across grade and level.

The app kesps crashing as soon as it's opened. It has been crashing for the past 2 weeks.

Can't change the edition of the books in the app or if there is a way to do that other than like resetting the book I couldn't find it. And please add the option of changing language for comments like the website

Goodreads is the best thing that happened to bookworms. It's one of my favorite sites to search for great books other Wattpad..

Goodreads can improve itself by incorporating a corresponding list for movies. Also, I wish the user-app interaction was easier.

No way to specify book version. I'm listening to an audiobook but, unlike the website, the app doesn't give me a way to choose that version in "my books".

I've been trying to use the app on my phone (Huawei lite) since march, I didn't manage to open the app even once, despite regular updating. --- Your advice helped, thanks. I modified my note accordingly :)

Lately , this app doesn't work vey well. It crushes continuously and I have to desintall it and install it all over again everytime I use it

App is great but not updating progress and taking a load of time to load...I think there are several bugs...

For some reason it stopped letting me log in with Facebook, to which my account is linked. Please fix this, otherwise I have no means of accessing my account.

The app keeps force closing! Has been for weeks! Fix it! How many times do I have to report the issue?

It's a great app to track your reading progress and have ideas what to read next but i wish they could update rating stars so we can put half star i think it's very important !

I prefer the iOS app. You can see more information on the book that I can't seem to locate at all on this app. This app offers extremely limited details on books.

This app is just a wrapper for website. Everything is dead slow, no data is being cached or stored locally. Completely outdated ui. Recommendations are bad most of the time.

I love this app, but there's been something wrong with it recently because it doesn't load anything at all. I deleted it and reinstalled it and still nothing. Please fix this soon.

Nice apps with many problems. Ads covering content, pages not refreshing properly, that sort of stuff. Hope it gets better. Also, why the search is only for titles and not authors

The app is good. It's more stable and works smoother. It would be nice if you could search for lists in the app and also bookmark them somehow.

The app occasionally closes after a recent update. Please fix this. It is quite annoying.

Very good app. I'm currently reading a book but the status isn't showing any book in the reading shelf. What kind of sorcery is this?

The network and social aspect are great. It's mainly an unpleasant interface, makes it difficult to explore lists and recommendations.

Having used Goodreads for over 3 years, they could update the app a bit. The commenting system can be better. Good for basic updating on reading, but definitely needs to update the interface ASAP.

Posting a new review - previous one was in 2017 and the reply was like 'we'll have this feature somewhere in the future' - authentication with Google details, available in desktop. Do you realize that you block all Google users from using your app from mobile?

The app keeps getting stuck when trying to scan books. You have to close it an reopen to confirm that the book was scanned.

Love how when I write a review, that my Goodreads also shares my review with Amazon. Also I can go look back on books I've read from K.U. and see authors I liked and the books they wrote. 📚 *now I need to find out how to add BookBub to my reviews too.

I had IOS before and I was able to switch editions of the book but now that I have android I can't do that!!! why's there no option to switch editions on Android??? pls fix this.

You don't have that much freedom while using app because groups and many other features are restricted to the website. Those should and must be included in my view because we use app to free ourselves from the browser issues.

I love this app. I love being able to track the books I read. I would like for the app to make suggestions based on the books I read. Is this option already available, but I haven't found it?
