Die kostenlose Flora Helvetica Mini App zeigt alle Funktionen der Flora Helvetica Pro Version, enthält jedoch nur ausgewählte Arten. Sie erlaubt ein rasches Testen und gibt einen guten Überblick über die Vollversion. Die Vollversion enthält Bilder und Artporträts von mehr als 3300 in der Schweiz wachsenden Pflanzen und ermöglichen mit einem Multikriterienschlüssel das Bestimmen von Pflanzen anhand einfacher Merkmale. Die Pro Version enthält zusätzlich den bewährten dichotomen Bestimmungsschlüssel. Die Pflanzenporträts sind mit Bildern, Verbreitungskarten und informativen Texten ausgestattet. In einem Feldbuch können eigene Beobachtungen mit dem genauen Standort gespeichert und an das nationale Daten- und Informationszentrum Info Flora gemeldet werden. Zudem können Favoriten verwaltet und die eigenen Beobachtungen mit Fotos und Notizen angereichert werden. Die Texte in den Artporträts wurden von Gerhart Wagner und Andreas Gygax geschrieben und zusammengestellt. Die grosse Mehrheit der Farbfotos stammt von Konrad Lauber. Programmiert wurde die App von der GeoMobile GmbH nach Idee und Konzept des Haupt Verlags und des Conservatoire et Jardin botaniques de la Ville de Genève. Ebenfalls mitgewirkt haben das nationale Daten- und Informationszentrum Info Flora und viele Schweizer Botaniker. DIE FUNKTIONEN Arten & Filter Die Artenliste erlaubt ein Stöbern und Suchen in den Arten, wahlweise mit den deutschen oder lateinischen resp. französischen oder lateinischen Artnamen, wobei die Liste alphabetisch oder nach Buchnummer geordnet angezeigt werden kann. Mit dem Filter kann die Artenliste nach gewünschten Merkmalen wie Blütezeit, geografische Verbreitung oder anhand der Familien und Gattungen eingegrenzt werden. Bestimmen Um eine Art zu bestimmen, stehen ein dichotomer Bestimmungsschlüssel sowie ein Multikriterienschlüssel zur Verfügung. Der dichotome Schlüssel ist nach dem botanisch üblichen dichotomen Schema aufgebaut: Zwischen je zwei aufgeführten Merkmalen ist das auf die zu bestimmende Pflanze zutreffende auszuwählen, bis ein Artname erscheint. Wer bei einem Entscheid unsicher ist, kann Lesezeichen anbringen, um bequem zur entscheidenden Frage zurückzufinden. Jederzeit kann die Liste der noch in der Auswahl verbleibenden Arten angesehen werden. Beim dynamischen Multikriterienschlüssel wird durch die Auswahl und Kombination von Merkmalen die Artenliste verkleinert.
