The update to EMUI 9.1 is not possible to maintain compatibility with older versions of EMUI. This is not a problem with the theme but restriction of Huawei!  If you have white bars in Huawei Message, Huawei File Manager or other apps on EMUI 9.0 devices, go to Settings - Smart assistance - Accessibility and disable item Advanced visual effect.
