Orbitals are the states that electrons occupy in atoms. The size and shape of each orbital, and their enumeration, gives insight into the periodic table, chemical bonding, and quantum mechanics. Electron Orbitals is an interactive tool for visually studying these states. Includes all orbitals up to energy level 8.

elegant, simple app for visualizing electron orbitals. no ads/IAPs! i contend that this app perfectly executes its intended utility. 5/5 a+ would use again

This app is incredible, you have got to see the 7dz2 orbital to believe it. I didn't know orbitals went up to k (obviously they don't in normal life, but they in do in maths world, and they're brilliant!). Where did my evening go?

Very interesting stuff.. But i feel like this is limited, to the diversity of the universe, perhaps orbitals larger than 8 exist.. Just unidiscovered, could you please go up to 10 atleast in an update? I dont mind if the visual looks bizarre, good job 👍

What an amazing app! Visualizing with different colours has made it more soothing to eyes. I would suggest you to make more applications similar to this like 3D lattices of solids, shales of organic molecules, etc. 🙂

  5. Chiranjeev Sahoo-avatar

Well its a very good app. But I have some suggestions. Can you add a feature to make the orbitals sharped shaped and draw lines to its corresponding orbital to make it easier to understand for beginners.

nice orbital views. however on my screen the color mode is way too washed out. I have an S4mini & the app creator thinks the OS is too out of date. But as I told him I like the grayscale orbitals anyway.

  7. Brian Parker-avatar

I Love this app. It is nice to have a visual representation of what electron orbitals would look like. Thank you 🙂

Great app! Representation of overlapping of orbitals would be of great help to every student.

It's a good app for understanding the quantum mechanical model of the atom because of the depth information about electron orbitals.

Very good for visualising orbitals in an intro to quantum mechanics class. Loved it!
