Reviews From google play store

Transferred Veracrypt container to external SD from computer, won't read external SD. Transferred to internal storage and multiple files were missing. Transferred back to computer and the missing files were still in the container EDS just wouldn't display them... some of which were simple .JPG format.

As far as i can tell, contrary to all of the negative reviews, this app does exactly what it states it will do. As others have mentioned the interface is somewhat clunky and non-intuitive, it probably helps that I have a strong Unix/Linux background in working with encryption systems. The only thing that I see that is really a flaw is that there is no cut/paste (recursive move) facility, there is only copy/paste functionality, which severely limits usability.

Veracrypt-compatible. This is great. Navigation at first was difficult. When in the vault, I just used my Android back navigation button to get to my phone filesystem. Pressing and holding on files allows you to copy or move them around.

Had no troubles mounting veracrypt volume. Had to format volume with exfat and load the provided exfat module. It would not mount NTFS volume but that's probably my devices fault. So far no complaints.

Works for me as advertized and with all the negative ratings, it's even n00b proof !-) No extra effort there to the developer for obscuring things more. My only wish is that the lite support hidden container.

works fabulously Thank you. only one thing which will not work is access to SD card which is absent. it it uses its own explorer instead of a system menu where we can choose which explorer we want to use and identify the micro SD location. . strongly suggest to buy the paid version

I gave one star because I couldn't use this app, but then I gave a second chance to it. Before giving bad feedback check the developers site and read the user manual, because it works well, just not very obvious how to do things in it!

This is a nice tool, especially for a free one. No problems so far. If I don't run into any issues within the next days, I'll try the non-lite version. Being able to sync a container to dropbox would be really helpful for me.

After time with the app I have found it to be excellent, I bought the paid version which is also excellent.

pretty sure i used to use this app regularly but now i can't even figure out how to go up when browsing through files which is a big problem because if you choose the same directory ie. device storage it takes you to the folder you were in last instead of the folders that are on the directory you selected. i hope I'm making sense here but this app just really sucks now.

I really wanted to like this app but the interface makes it unusable. Created an encrypted volume on an SD card but, having navigated to a normal folder on the SD card and then moved a subfolder to the encrypted volume, I now get those two paths shown in the list of file volumes with no way to traverse past them back up the tree! Maybe there's a hidden command, but the screens are pretty sparse and I've spent a long time looking. Disappointed.

Big lover of TrueCrypt and VeraCrypt. I've used both for many years on the laptop, but this app, which I thought would simply be an andriod version seems a lot more complex. I couldn't fathom how to work it at all, and I didn't want to play around experimenting in case I damaged or froze my phone.

The app works quite well with my small (100 MB) Veracrypt file but there is no documentation, and the file manager incorporated into the app is the worst on Android that I have ever used. My usual file manager is ES file explorer and it would be much better if it were possible to use external file managers of choice. Otherwise, this app does the job.

Utterly useless. Documentation nonexistent, will not access external USB chip, will not open containers to store or retrieve files. No reason for an app to live on my device that does exactly nothing but take up space. I only wish I could have given it zero stars and still got to make a review of this horrendous and useless product.

I was creating a large container on an external drive. Somehow my internal storage is completely full now and I can not seem to locate the file. Maybe EDS created the container in a temp folder..

uninstalling the app deletes any container that was created with the app without any warning. This app is supposed to protect your data but instead it just erases everything when you uninstall like a child throwing a tantrum.

Creates volumes and mounts them, but doesn't say where in the file system they are mounted. No apparent way to add files, other than in app you can create an empty text file. Frequently trying to read clipboard for some reason, even though I am not attempting to paste anything.

works great but crashes after 20-30mins when doing lots of writes or changes to a 50gb+ store. also doesn't seem to have NTFS access which would be ideal for external drives (usb) otherwise I have to format external USB as ExFat or Fat32 and ExFat easily corrupts with windows 10.

As usual the most difficult part of programming, is creating a decent user interface. This is probably the worst ui i have ever seen ! Com on this is just a simple program, you must be able to do better than this. Just look at the examples (file explorers) around you.

It's a good app, but it'd be even better if it had an option to display files in folders as big thumbnails.

Used this app for years in conjunction with Truecrypt on our laptops and PC's. Solid reliable performance and a helpful developer. If you have to store sensitive data on your android device like passwords and banking info then EDS is essential...

Though the UI is quite bad (no grid view, navigation is kinda clunk, etc.) it still does the job running my veracrypt container without any problems and no internet access at all. Thank you guys!

Doesn't seem to work with VeraCrypt containers, per other review complaints. Plus where is the log file? Please respond so I can try to get this working and hopefully rate your app higher!

Does not open Veracrypt container. Android Version 9 Sprint Note 9

Only supports the FAT file system, so NTFS isn't supported, but this isn't explained anywhere on the app's page on Google Store. VeraCrypt isn't supported, despite claims that it is.

Does not work with TrueCrypt. Does not open existing containers created on PC and TrueCrypt on my PC does not open containers created with EDS.

Can't get past the loading screen. Stuck in continuous loop.

I have absolutely no idea how to add files to a container. It's easy to create and open a container, but what next? Can I drag and drop files into it? How? (I have the paid version)

Couldn't use it. It failed to create a storage file

I was going to give 5 stars, then noticed that the files i had opened in a fat truecrypt container where automatically deleted after successfully view each file even without modifying it.

need a vault to protect existing stuff rather than a container . have nothing to copy there.

Opened a truecrypt container 25Gb, now unable to open the same container ! was considering getting the paid version, I will just waste my money!

loses data when read write mode. Files just disapear.

after updating, cant open encrypted archives "Archive decryption failed, algorithm is ass"

app stop storing files in container @ 127MB even though container size is 2gb!!!!!!

Not as good as the old Ver,even to close very mixed up

completely and utterly pointless. does not actually do anything at all. it doesn't have any feature it's just an app that doesn't do anything

never worked for me. veracrypt contsiner

Reliable; does its intended job. 👍🏼

Doesn't work with Veracrypt files

as i see (at least luks) countainer does not mouted as a partition. cant guess how to copy files in it.

it does what it offers and it does it good

Hang on startup.

Does it's job

picture viewer frequently rotates sideways, doesn't allow swiping zoomed-in pics, lock & quit should be more accessible

Not working for me.

Free version is open source ☺ but for some reason paid version is not 😒 . 5 Stars for open source version.

read Truecrypt files. Excellent and easy to use. Does not require root

True crypt

It works great! Easy to use. Securely store sensitive data in an encrypted container file that can be stored in a cloud storage like Dropbox, and shared among multiple devices. VeraCrypt container works perfectly, both internal storage and external SDCard storage. Bought the full version also. Those giving bad reviews due to not understanding how Android file system and permission work should read about those first.

The interface is not very intuitive at all. After I managed to figure it out, I had it working with a 2-GB VeraCrypt container I had created on my PC. It worked fine for about three weeks, then suddenly refused to open the container anymore. I'd paste the password (from LastPass), the dialog would disappear, and that's it; the container would not be opened. No error, nothing. I thought maybe the header had become corrupt, but I copied the container back to my PC, and VeraCrypt was able to open it without an issue. So in short, this app is quite deeply flawed, in my honest assessment.

Using as password repo. Extremely useful. Excellent support. Must have! Used to work fine. With latest version, can no more access my container with all my passwords. Video help completely incomprehensible. Sorry I ever installed this app

Update: Wasn't able to open videos previously but it seems there's an option in the settings now to fix this issue. Thanks developer for this awesome app!

Horrible, just plain horrible. Interface not intuitive. Difficult to use. I'm unable to unlock the container with my password, kept giving me errors. Save yourself the trouble and do not use.

Not at all usable for reading USB sticks with Vera crypt encryption, since you never are presented with a Dev/media folder.

Not very user friendly , haven't a clue how to use it and can't find how to in help

Doesn't work with Veracrypt. Should remove claim it does.

Unter Android und Chome OS erkennt Veracrypt-Container nicht. Gibt es einen Support?

Worked with luks but after creating a veracrypt container with whirlpool and twofish i could not open it

Compatible with TrueCrypt volumes.

It works, however: 1) User experience is poor, very trial and error, rather than intuitive. 2) cannot mount veracrypt vaults as read only 3) exfat plugin is hard to install - GitHub doesn't show releases on mobile site.

Not intuitive at all. Created a container but can't even find the phones file system and files through the app to add to the container.

Used to work fine reading files from SD card, now broken and crashes every time.

This app is fantastic! 5/5. It would be cool if it had the ability to play gifs and show storage space.

How to add files to container?

works great so far - just using as a private vault (pretty much default settings) in case phone gets lost or stolen. will buy it but continue to use lite ver as i don't like internet permission. how can i tell the space left in a container? wish it has an indicator. also, toggling between container and local files is a bit tedious - better to have them listed without the up/down arrows or have two-pane view maybe. please keep up the good work Devs.

Seems like it could be great, but not obvious UI. That would be OK, except only documentation is videos that explain nothing. I'd get the full version if I could be sure fs access worked.

I tested it and it does not work on my Galaxy Tab A (Android Version 6.0.1) unless you make containers with simple passwords. Every time I create a True Crypt container that includes *symbols* rather than just letters and numbers I get the error "wrong password or unsupported container". It works just fine on my Samsung SM-G920V phone Two more stars if I can get it to work on my Tablet Changed from THREE to ONE stars when it started locking up on my Galaxy S6

The best for all your encryption needs, if you guys could add better view for folders and files (like grid, simple, detailed, etc) it would be gold ! thanks

Good app, took me a while to figure out how to install additional modules to open some containers but it's all working as it should now.

Absolutely awesome! Much respect to the devs for open-sourcing the light version. After granting permission to external storage the app freezes. Kept searching for the manual unmount option until I accidentally discovered that tapping the shield icon next to the container name will do the unmounting.

The interface is not so intuitive for accessing OTG USB devices. Bought the full version for accessing hidden volumes.

Good app! very useful

This used to work great...no issues. Then, it's an update and does open any files from containers anymore. Have uninstalled, reinstalled more than once...including rebooting and reloading containwrs...still nothing. Irritating when perfectly good software gets an unneeded upgrade and breaks. Too bad...this was great.

Doesn't work ever since the recent update. Will uninstal permanently.

Whenever I try to install the exfat module I get an error

Am I supposed to compile the exfat module in order to install it? Not every user is a developer.

It's the best on Android as of now. Period.

To all those who can no longer open things, you have to save the paths to the containers, uninstall and reinstall the app, then put the containers back on the list and you should have no more problems. That's what worked for me.

Using for years despite ugly interface and no updates. Last update is an unexpected nice surprise. Keep on.

Great, but the amount of sudden updates worry me.....(Nicer new gui btw)

With the latest version i cant save edits to txt files. I used to be able to open the txt file with fx edit app make changes and it would save. Now it will only allowme to save to the phone not the container. Why is this?

It does what it says. Though the UI still have a lot of room for improvement

Good program. Could be easier to use, and have a better UI. Can read Truecrypt volumes. Doesn't seem to read Veracrypt ones. But dev needs to do more homework because wiping files on smart cards is meaningless. The data is redirected to different sectors just before hitting the drive. This error means I have questions about how secure this program is.

In terms of security this app delivers, it also has a nice interface. One of the things I dislike though is the internal image viewer which doesn't open pictures in full screen and you have to keep zooming in and out with your fingers, because of this I am forced to open images in the gallery which has the problem of not being able to easily switch between pictures as you will have to keep going back to eds from the gallery. And this app unfortunately crashes frequently when trying to reopen a container.

Use to store passwords and other private data that I can't keep in my head but need regularly. When I had a problem opening an encrypted file on my phone, e-mailed them and they got back to me within hours to solve the problem.

Works very reliably with containers built by app (have not tried to use with Truecrypt container) I agree with others regarding the file manager - It's not intuitive, but it works. I noticed that if doc inside open container is in use by external app, and phone restarts, file remains on phone unencrypted. If encryption is as solid as advertised, this is a great app.

This is a great app for people using VeraCrypt or TrueCrypt and the new user interface is nice. My one recommendation would be to have the full screen menu bar, when looking at images, be transparent like it was in version 1.x or have an option for that under settings. The current 2.x menu bar blocks part of the image until it auto-hides but feels far more intrusive then the old menu bar.

This is going straight to the top as the best encryption app for Android phones, especially unrooted ones! Five stars even though there are much more features that can be added, like better file browsing and management. For those who are paranoid, this is the only encryption app that doesn't have access to internet or your personal data. If you are uncomfortable with this one, there are other apps that have connection to internet and access to your private data for you to choose.

Might be promising, but the button Select is .. useless. File explorer and inserting to the encrypted volume is a nightmare: only one file by file, not a folder, (Select button? why for?) then each time has to go up to root folder, back back back then paste to that volume, create a new folder for subfolder, then go to insert one file per one... haizz, I give up. It's better to compress with a compress file with password like RAR or ES Explorer and then explore files then... uninstalled, could not go on to test further.

For those with stock updates, either don't use your sd card, or open volume as read only. If you don't, you're going to have problems - not the fault of this app maker, just the annoying default new android security model.

Had the paid version but they messed it up so bad I does not work anymore. Went back to the free version. No response from them at all. Probably going over to Cryptex Secret Safe.

An important feature of Truecrypt is the hidden container. Unfortunately EDS Lite doesn't support it. When trying to open it, one will always get: " Wrong password or unsupported container format"

Since Android was updated on my Samsung Note 3, this software shows only an empty container...all previously stored data not shown. Only way to access is to copy the container to Windows and open with Trucrypt.... Please fix or find an occupation that you're good at...

I like that has no network permissions, that it has compatibility with Truecrypt, and has some internal viewers. This way I feel I can securely and flexibily move files between devices and platforms. Thanks!

I use to praise EDS but since the various updates there are less and less possibilities. For example, you can't decrypt anymore and now it doesn't play mp4 anymore. So no more 5 stars anymore.

Getting "context initialization failed" error on Samsung Galaxy S5 running 4.4.2. This is after entering the correct password for a container. Works fine on older Android OS. This bug is on both the Lite and paid versions.
