You can browse music by albums, artists, folders or genres, create your own playlists or share them with your friends, and even rate your music! And if you have dedicated stereo speakers at home, DS audio can also become a remote control to stream music to them.

Reviews From google play store

As others have said please please please update this app i can't even find the supposedly music Que to play the songs from EDIT: 8 years later I still use this app almost daily. Synology is the best!!! However... There seems to be an issue with this app on the Samsung Galaxy S10+ it only started happening today. It isn't playing my music correctly and keeps clearing the playlist. The notification panel where DS audio sits has also been chopped in half. Can this be looked into please? Thanks!

It needs a lot of work. So many little bugs, it can drive a sane man crazy. When I pick a track and then pick one of my cast devices, it forgets all tracks. Every single bleeding time. Visually, it's stuck in the 90s and needs a serious face lift . Also why i can't i sort by year or date added. A frustrating experience

Pretty good. I do have some functionality issues I'm noticing. Periodically, DS stops playing music and shows the playlist as blank. When I exit and re-enter the playlist, the songs reappear and begin to play again. I've also noticed when trying to access the library online, it will sometimes just show "no data", even when I have a great connection and I know the DS is online. Otherwise, I'm happy with the app.

So much potential. This is probably the only sore point in my experience with Synology. Downloads are inconsistent, erratic. Playback also. Thankfully it does work with Android Auto. Fix this, and I would use it more. But right now, I'm still sticking with Google Music.

The app works great but I would like to be able to more easily manage my downloaded songs (offline vs online). It doesnt seem to respect wifi vs cellular downloads and that can be a scary mistake.

Doesnt work most if the time. Clunky when it does. I mean why doesn't the keyboard automatically open when you press search? Can someone please make a modern player that works with Synology!

I haven't had any of the issues other users have reported. My NAS synced perfectly with DS audio (from remote location, with 4G), playback works. I have a very large library, but this doesn't seem to be a problem. Functionality wise, the app is very complete.

If you have a Chromecast, this might work for you sometimes. If you have more than one Chromecast, may God have mercy on your soul. It does not recognize groups, and has difficulty switching between devices. Needs a lot of work.

Gets the job done but could be better. It's great for accessing my NAS and my music, but some annoying things are I can't download a full album in the album search, but can in the recently added playlist or in folder search, it can't pause the download queue when I go off wifi, if the connection is lost it forgets my download queue and I have to read it. It's great if you like music on your phone and want to avoid streaming, but it doesn't make it simple.

Can not recommend. App loses connection to NAS often, different modules of the app cooperate erratically, music sometimes fails to play back. Needs a lot of work!

This is a great way to listen to music from your Synology NAS. The are some basic things that need to be added though. For example it can't read the disc tag. This means that all tracks on double albums or boxed sets are jumbled together, rather than separated by disc number. Thankfully you can browse by folder to get around this.

I love Synology hardware products but the software is sometimes second rate and DS Audio is very much second rate. It has trouble reaching my DS218+ and when it does reach the device it loses the link frequently. If I use my Plex app the connectivity is much more stable.

For the better part of a week I've been unable to use this app because I get a mysterious message saying that "the network is not available now". That makes this app fairly useless. Synology also don't update the app frequently and Chromecast support has been hot and miss for years.

Not working well in galaxy s7 and s8. the interface is not good. Good app but it is awful that all songs are downloaded from the synology to the main directory of the mobile. The downloaded songs should be stored in the external sd card. Lyrics are not downloaded automatically and this is a pity.

Synology komt niet voor in de lijst van Google home. Als ze telkens vernieuwd zijn vraag je je af waarom het geen standaard app is van Google home,nu zit je met Spotify enz..en dat wil je niet.

Technically quite good, surprisingly fast at seeking. But the UI/UX is terrible. There are so many apps that have a great UI, why not follow their lead! Such a shame.

great app, disconnects from t-mobile way too easily... but when it doesn't its really good for driving around Los Angeles

Works relatively well at home, but Android Auto function is a real mess. To be able to get any selectable options on the AA menu, you need to be running DSaudio prior to even starting AA, otherwise they won't show at all on the screen, which means if I forget to do so before plugging in my phone, I can't play any music! Add to that Googles AA scrolling limitations, well, frustrating to say the least... Also, even though I may exit the app, notification controls on the phone stay persistent until a full reboot of the phone. Synology devs: will you ever do anything about these issues, or should we start looking elsewhere?

this app has so much potential but its glitchy and cant add play list. seems like everything has to be done on the nas itself. wish it was more mobile user friendly

Constant evolution has made this app super! A bit disappointed that it still can't sort an artist's albums by year, or even display it for that matter.
