Description
The Discipleship Journal Bible Reading Plan guides you through the ESV Bible in a year with readings from 4 different sections of the bible each day:
1) OT History & Prophets
2) Wisdom Books & Isaiah
3) Gospels
4) Epistles and Acts
Because many Old Testament books are often more difficult for people to read through and enjoy, these books are paired with the Psalms, Gospels, and Epistles. In this way reader interest is not lost and so the soul can always find something to feed on each day while still covering the entirety of God's Word and cultivating an understanding and enjoyment of the whole Bible. This approach has proven to be more sustainable and enjoyable than simply reading the Bible cover-to-cover from Genesis to Revelation.
For example, the reading for Day 1 includes:
1) Genesis 1-2
2) Psalms 1
3) Matthew 1:1-17
4) Acts 1:1-11
"Makeup" days are built into the plan for each month. Each month has 25 days of readings, so you can miss a few days without getting too far behind; this practical measure helps to make this a sustainable reading plan.
This application features:
1) Discipleship Journal Reading Plan
2) ESV (English Standard Version) Bible text
3) Listen to Spoken Audio while reading at the same time
4) Mark readings as completed to track your progress.
5) Displays the number of days you are ahead or behind in the schedule including "makeup" days
6) Configurable starting month
7) Configurable font size
The DJ Bible Reading Plan application allows to choose a starting month so that you can begin reading through the Bible in a year at any time, not just on January 1st.
For those who are already following the DJ reading plan on paper, you can switch to using this application by indicating your current progress with the "mark all completed before date" in Preferences.
