A small icon on notification bar to ensure if the data link is *REALLY* connected. Also shows your connection speed level. (On Android 2.2+ devices)
Almost drains no battery, no traffic when screen is off.
Default pings 8.8.8.8 every 3 seconds, about 2 KB/min traffic when screen is on. You can change these settings.
