CX File Explorer is an excellent tool for accessing your network files with a fast and easy-to-use interface. Unlike other network browsers this one has an IP discovery that locates shared network file systems so setup is painless. I appreciate its reliability after trying several other apps on my Chromebook. Now I regularly access my home network Windows files from my laptop with little concern for which machine I'm using.

  2. guest-avatar

Well thought out app. I wish I could find more like this. It has taken me awhile to figure out to work with it, but so far the more I use it the more I like it. I have had nothing but problems when I try to get me laptop and desktop to communicate over my home network. Cx moves between them smoothly and so far flawlessly.

Brilliant! Been looking for a replacement for ES file manager which stopped being supported and this is it. Easy to use, lots of features, can easily copy files to and from my windows network, no adverts. No problems so far.

It was time for a change after using fX for the last 5 years. I really like Cx and it's more consistent, handles external SD Card operations better, and it has a smaller footprint.

  5. guest-avatar

I've been using this file manager for a while now. It has good local network capabilities. FTP, SSH, SMB. The SMB actually works better than on my desktop.

  6. guest-avatar

Best file utility app I've found. The local network access is particularly impressive! Easy and accurate to use. Can't say enough good things about it.

  7. guest-avatar

Full featured file manager integrating cloud as though it were sitting on my phone. I'm no nerd but Cx has all the features I've missed in other such apps. Totally dependable (20200312, 2 months since purchase, S8+)

This is an amazing app. It does everything I want, it does it well, and it does it without ads or a paywall. It's too good to be true... which is why I've uninstalled it. Call me paranoid, but it takes plenty of resources to build an app this good, and it takes money to post it in the app store. And they're asking nothing in return? The only contact info is a Gmail address, and their privacy policy looks like it's been copied from Flashlight+Clock's File Manager. No thanks.

  9. guest-avatar

My congratulations and thanks to the developers! This is my favourite Android file management app. It's simple and effective and has worked well on all Android versions and flavours I've tried it on. It's straightforward to use. It does everything I want: it can find, open, move, copy, and delete files wherever they are: on internal storage, SD card, cloud storage, and local NAS and Windows shares, FTP servers, etc. As another reviewer mentioned, it's a surprise that it's free and without ads. It'd be worth paying for.

  10. guest-avatar

Coming from ES File Explorer Pro, this app has all the features I've used (SMB, FTP, local network sharing) and does it all in a more lightweight and quicker manner. It's easy to use and the material design is appreciated. The only suggestions are to add a dark mode/theme and allow multiple separate file copy operations at once. These are features I'd definitely be willing to pay for.

  11. guest-avatar

Is great but needs: 1- remember each folder view and sorting properties. 2 - a better/easier way to switch between local and network storage.

  12. guest-avatar

I can manage all my files in one place: local, remote and cloud. Great interface and all the features I need.

Excelent. Does what is needed. No adds. Perfect. Waiting for a paid version to support the devs. Very good job.

  14. guest-avatar

I love it! (changed to 5 stars) Works about as well as my previous favorite, ES File Explorer, and actually better in that I can access pictures as easily as a gallery app. One thing: capacity to open several windows would be awesome, but not a necessity. Other highlights that some FM apps don't have: 1. Access to cloud storage. Please do whatever it takes to keep that feature. 2. Create shortcut to any file/folder on home screen.

  15. guest-avatar

Great for local network access. Add VPN and get them from anywhere! Awesome. Thanks for all your precious time!!!

  16. guest-avatar

Well done file manager ever It's simple, clean, intutive, has root access , and file transfer is as easy as it gets. Keep up the good work.

  17. guest-avatar

It would be good if I could access my cloud files offline but I am grateful I can access everything with a connection anyway. Sometimes it gets stuck when moving or copying files and continues loading forever. Shows files that should be hidden which is not good because I can end up deleting these thinking that they are not useful. No option to stop this.

  18. guest-avatar

wow. clean and easy. fast too. could be bye-bye time for Solid Explorer! gimme a dark theme and you'll get 5 stars; using this in a dark server room is like staring into the sun. 🤪

Excellent alternative to ES File Explorer (the really good versions). You have to be a confidant user to really appreciate CX File Explorer but even new users will be able to easily navigate the simple interface after just a few seconds. The basics for all users are easily, visibly, at hand. Audio? Got an icon for that on the second screen. How do we get to the 2nd screen? Just swipe along the bottom half of the time interface. You can dig as deep or shallow to your liking. CX will accommodate.

  20. guest-avatar

Possibly my favorite file manager I've ever used on any OS in the past 15 years. Desktop included. Nothing compares in speed, simplicity, features, capability, or most importantly reliability. The most reliable file transfers and operations I've ever done. This and the Android version of RAR are some of the best file management programs I've ever used. I will use my phone to manage certain things on my PC and mac via network this is such a powerful app

  21. guest-avatar

I literally just downloaded this app less than 2 minutes ago. The installation and log-in experience was very clean, very minimal and incredibly efficient. It took me seconds to find a NAS located in my local network and now I am streaming files to my phone over wifi. Highly rated file explorer, need more programmers and apps such as this one! To the developer(s), thank you for your contribution!

  22. guest-avatar

in my opinion, the only thing it needs is dark mode / custom themes. everything else are great.

  23. guest-avatar

Simple, elegant and effective. Very much capable file explorer and does everything. Greatest thing is adfree.

  24. guest-avatar

Without question, the Best File Manager App on the Entire Google Play Store. Zero Ads. Zero Microtransactions. No Paywalls. No Intrusive Permission Requirements. NONE OF THAT with this one. It just does exactly what it's advertised to do and nothing more! Definitely get this app! With that said, I do have only ONE Complaint, however.... If the Devs of this app could add in a Dark Theme for it? That would make this app 100% Perfect. That's the only thing this app is missing, in my opinion.

  25. guest-avatar

Excellent file manager, pretty impressed. It is very light weight at just ~4MB, pretty smooth and fast. Doesn't lag or get bloated like the other ones. Best part is: it's completely ad-free and no in-app purchases either. Has all the features you would normally need and a few others that you would need but rarely. All in all, one of the best file managers you can get, especially considering it is free of ads.

  26. guest-avatar

Unable to connect to WD My Cloud drive, works fine on My Book, but no sense using if i can't connect to all.

  27. guest-avatar

really great app. suggestions - 1. dark mode option. 2. when searching, something to indicate a search is still occurring. otherwise you're just sitting there unsure if it's still searching, just didn't find anything, if it's locked up, or ... 3. batch operations make me hit scroll slider often as I'm trying to check the boxes. that's a pain in the butt. moves boxes maybe? 4. ability to search within the text viewer. you guys should charge for this app. no way I'd be giving it away.

  28. guest-avatar

This is the best file manager I've ever used! This is not only easy to use, but is very comprehensive. I can easily and quickly move between the drives on my tablet, but also my cloud drives. I have two different Onedrives as well as Google and it is a simple click to move between them. Moving files from one drive to another couldn't be easier. File options, like "open with" are excellent. There is one thing missing that would make this a better program is the ability to create bookmarks or tabs

  29. guest-avatar

Works most of the time. Network drives seem to be most likely not to connect.

  30. guest-avatar

Works very well for accessing internal storage as well as network storage such as SMB or FTP.

  31. guest-avatar

Have been searching for a file manager that will let me see the shared files on my PC for ages. This does it flawlessly!

  32. guest-avatar

When I realized ES File Explorer didn't exist anymore I needed a replacement. Cx File Explorer may sound like a bit of a rip-off but I must admit that I was surprised at just how good it really is. Cx, by comparison has a simple, clean interface while retaining all the core functionality I valued: easy remote connection, ftp, music player, and responsive. It's a great app that I fully recommend.

  33. guest-avatar

Couldn't have wished for an other file explorer! Dark mode would be nice, but with Android 10 it is no problem :)

  34. guest-avatar

For some reason the app shows a notification that is doing a scan. It doesn't tell me what is scanning, how long it will take, nor does it give me an option to cancel or schedule it. Please fix this and add a black theme option. Also add an option to select where to restore files to from the recycle bin, rather than only restore to where it was deleted from. Also add the ability to group files (eg in the downloads folder) by month created or modified.

  35. guest-avatar

Clean and crisp interface. Ad free. What else can I say, but it just works as intended without caveats. Wonder job by the developer, kudos. As for you top critical review. Are you kidding me?!?! It simply asks for permission to access storage. It's "scanning" your storage.

  36. guest-avatar

Works properly, no lag and smooth ui. Library sorts all kinds of files nicely. Would have been great if there was a search option for files.

  37. guest-avatar

This app works like a charm. It has a user-friendly interface, easily connects to cloud storage (Drive and Dropbox) and it also works with OTG devices. It's been my go-to file manager for a while and it hasn't let me down!

  38. guest-avatar

Does file viewing well. It does not have shortcuts to frequently used folders, which makes using it cumbersome. It does not report all of the files. It says 29GB of internal memory is used but only shows about 5.5GB usage in the analysis. It is impossible to find where excessive memory is being used.

I bought a Verbatim Mediashare Wireless and found the designated App wasn't on the Playstore anymore, and although still on Amazon App Store once installed it crashed rendering the devise useless. Looking at the devise recent reviews I found many people with the same issue, one report excellent experience with this App. Since I have installed this awesome App I am loving both the devise and the App. Many thanks to the developers for saving the devise from going in the bin.

  40. guest-avatar

This app is promoted as being simple & clean to use. It is so simple that it won't connect to my LAN or WiFi! The only one not to do so from dozens of file manager I've used. The only good thing about it is that it's free....

  41. guest-avatar

Great app for organizing files. Wish it had a feature to identify duplicates.

  42. guest-avatar

    Gerard Fernandes

It's a great file manager, nicely laid out and very easy to use. But sadly, it doesn't recognise standard format (Unix system generated) **password protected** RSA or the new ED25519 format keys, and therefore, falls short, as the only way to use sftp is via password login (or perhaps with keys that are not password protected - although I refuse to try that for the same reasons as not using password for SSH), which isn't really recommended best practice.

  43. guest-avatar

Excellent! Ad free, powerful, intuitive to use.

  44. guest-avatar

probably not the most featurefull file manager out there but, today, it was my first attempt and made me happy! it's usually (over the years) really hard to find a good one when i go on a quest. this has, indeed: ZERO ADS AND ANNOYANCES, search, very fast, simple file moving works perfectly, detailed info with file name location, great intuitive UX, and quite some more features. missing: gestures, details like less taps for main features (such as search), etc. inspiration hint: google files.

This could be Alternative for ES File Explorer in some reason due to their descends... But I suggest to have an ability to keep the Files' Metadata and its Modification Date rather than 'Copy&Delete_OriginalFile' Method while transferring into a Directory/USB/FTP... I'm just preferring to TeraCopy for Windows about the Functionality, But I pressume CX could be like TeraCopy-alike on Android in the future. (Preserving File Dates is a must)

  46. guest-avatar

Rubbish because when connecting an external USB hub and copying files from my sd card to USB stick, there was an error with the connection from the phone to the hub and both sd card and USB stick disconnected and I permanently lost 7 files. I did this as a copy and I thought those files that didn't copy would be back in their original folders but no they were completely and permanently lost. I'm not happy at all

  47. guest-avatar

This is an excellent File Manger app that has become my go to file manager after ES File Explorer went to the dark side. CX File also works really well on the Fire TV and can be controlled with the Fire TV remote. No ads either! Very impressive.

  48. guest-avatar

Great application and very user friendly. (no ads) 👍

  49. guest-avatar

Almost perfect for Firestick 4k. Needs dark theme please!... Very light weight. The internal video player is the only one that doesn't buffer over SFTP on my Firestick 4k. Cx also works great with a mouse. Others hide it on the open-with menu. Behaves well with OTG USB drive. Search doesn't find system files (even when showing hidden files and system storage.) Needs a DARK THEME PLEASE. Mouse cursor is almost invisible on white background. And the color kills my eyes on a TV screen.

Great app! After a few month using it, I can probably say that I like it even more that ES File Explorer (that I was using previously). The only thing missing to be worth 5 stars is dark mode. Apart from that, totally recommend.

Quick and efficient. Would like to have 2 panels for comparing 2 directories

  52. guest-avatar

For me very easy interface, lots of storage options. Easy to rename, move files. I use it before my Google app. You should not be disappointed with Cx File Explorer. Thank you.

  53. guest-avatar

After updating, rename function does not automatically in select all mode. User have to manually select all text to rename the file. I think it's better to use what is already standardize in PC, automatically select all in renaming filename. Recent update: cool! The feature has back! Thank you dev team!

  54. guest-avatar

Great app, I would like to see a feature to export my connections (FTP, smb...) to a XML file. If I change my device or need to transfer connection settings to my tablet, that would be useful.

  55. guest-avatar

I love this app! It has replaced my now defunct ES File Explorer. I just wish there was a dark mode.

  56. guest-avatar

Works great. The only file mgnt app I could find that has a good private network interface.

  57. guest-avatar

Just downloaded this since ES Explorer is out of buisness and I'm already impressed with this app. Everything seems clear. The file icons are a little small, would prefer them to be a little larger. Other than that, great app.

  58. guest-avatar

Very easy to use and great for browsing files over the network to your NAS using SMB. Highly recommended. Why is this even free as it's really good. 5 stars from me.

Great simple file app for network transfers to and from shared Windows drives.

  60. guest-avatar

The built-in music player buffers most of the time when playing files from remote server. Not an Internet issue because the built-in video player works fine. Also I wish you can store my last opened remote folders. I'd pay if these are fixed.

  61. guest-avatar

Great app! Works with not only local (internal and microSD) but also allows you to map network drives for additional functionality. Very easy to use. I uninstalled all my other file utilities because they didn't hold a candle to Cx File Explorer.

  62. guest-avatar

I like that I can set the default player to my choice and I just launch right from the file browser. Looks pretty lame but I'm still using it until I find something better.

  63. guest-avatar

Used for a couple of weeks, so far so good. Works really well with local Nas which helps a lot. Really easy to use.

  64. guest-avatar

I'm very impressed with his app it's really good. It's been relatively stable and was easy to learn how to use. I give it four only because there's still some room for improvment. I'd give it 4.5 if I could.

  65. guest-avatar

Does what it's supposed to. SMB, FTP works flawlessly, whithout the adds seen in many other explorers, which, i might add, work far less good. I've seen others complaining about the outdated interface, but I like the clean organized view. Well done!

  66. guest-avatar

Absolutely the best ES file explorer replacement I've found. DUI works and looks so much like ES i don't even miss Es anymore. Some things even seem to work smoother. Uploading and downloading from cloud storage for instance. Thank you CX.

  67. guest-avatar

Best ever app for file management. 🤟. Just like "windows explorer". If you want a clean, transparent, high-quality, easy to use file management experience on Android, then install it. ☺️. Devs should keep up the development. 👍

I was looking for a an app that could use SAMBA with my Raspberry Pi file server. This works great, and has a few extra bells and whistles too. I just wish it would let me leave the SMB password blank, and then prompt for it when needed.

  70. guest-avatar

When you have an RCA Voyager tablet that can't run it's own file manager app you can use this app to see and work with your files. You can also analyze your storage. 😀

  71. guest-avatar

The best file manager I've used so far. I use it for anything and it has very good support for accessing network files. It's also pretty easy to use and simple. Couldn't ask for anything better.

  72. guest-avatar

Works great connecting to samba shares and working with SD card storage.

I've been using ES explorer pro for a long time. All if sudden, it was kicked out from Playstore. Then I tried to find for the substitution of it. So many apps disappointed me and, I paid lots of money. At last, I found CX explorer. Guys, this is legit! Just download this and try it!

  74. guest-avatar

Works really well. I use it especially for copying from my android device to my Nas and the other way around. User interface and experience is better than the ones I found in other apps. The only thing missing is being able to mount an NFS share.

  75. guest-avatar

    Gilgamesh Prime

Really great app with awesome network functionality to access files on my PC from my phone. One thing I would like to see them add is dark mode but that's all I can think of, everything else is great!

  76. guest-avatar

No ads, very light on resources, internal audio/video player, all these features make it a wonderful application. I would like the developers to allow the user to create shortcuts to folders, instead of showing temporary ones when you open such.

  77. guest-avatar

This is the best file handler that I have ever used! Since I save everything to the Cloud, I can and do use this app for all my file handling tasks, no matter what platform I used to create the file.

  78. guest-avatar

    Aditya Kumar Gupta

Clean interface and more than enough features : - The interface design is simple and clean i like it most. It has all the required features one file explorer should have. I am still new for this app will update my review after few days.

  79. guest-avatar

Almost perfect! If only it had a dark mode! Please update this with dark mode!

  80. guest-avatar

Easy to use, fast, and non-invasive compared to most file managers (including the one that came with my phone). I just wish it had a dark theme, as the white background is painfully bright in low light.

  81. guest-avatar

Has everything that I used from ES File Explorer, but is much faster and has NO ADS AT ALL! If you make a paid version I will buy without hesitation. Really good job guys, keep it up.

the SMB connection is good, but please add show/hide hidden files/directories

  83. guest-avatar

Fast, intuitive UI with quick setup and great features

  84. guest-avatar

Works great, easy to use. No annoying ads

  85. guest-avatar

Great app. Best file explorer. My daily driver. On rooted mobile editing build.prop never works sometimes root features have bugs. But it is a great app and free alternative to es file explorer. Personally I never liked es file explorer.

  86. guest-avatar

All the functions I'm looking for. Just a little tweak to UI and it will be the best file browser. The folder ratio and text is a bit cramped.

  87. guest-avatar

Been using this app for a while now. It's so much better than a lot of different phones' default file manager. It's functionality is powerful and still remains simple and effective. I will use this on all my phones so long as it stays ad free.

  88. guest-avatar

Does exactly what I need it to do. The scrolling feature is a bit too sensitive, finding myself unintentionally scrolling. I still think this app is better than everything put there, hence the five stars.

Straightforward and easy to use. Just what I was looking for.

  91. guest-avatar

Great app does fine browsing local samba server and local storage on phone. Hasn't crashed yet been running six months. Feature request allow home to to be set and saved.

Clean interface for quick access to all apps (faster than Play, with excellent name search) and files (by type or location). Options to rename files, delete, regroup, or play.

  93. guest-avatar

This app is great. Has a nice UI, could be better with dark mode. And this app is missing the ability to uninstall system app, even though the app has a root access options. Please add those feature and believe me, everyone will be pleased. Cheers

  94. guest-avatar

Connected to my NAS instantly. It's hard to find a good network share file explorer, but this one is perfect.

  95. guest-avatar

Works so far, and it has no ads. Wonderful!

  96. guest-avatar

I love this app... But... How can I create permanent bookmarks for my favorite folders ? When do you expect to add this feature to the app ? Other file managers include this very important feature.... I took out one star until this feature is added....

  97. guest-avatar

Very good application! It is useful and I use it as the default application for files. Too bad I can't link other cloud accounts (mega, for example). 👍

  98. guest-avatar

Awesome! Now I can connect to my computer's harddrive when on my home network. Works seamlessly. UI is a bit bland, but I'll happily take the functionality.

Will be great if app had dark mode and bulgarian language. I can help with translation. :)

Good application, needs option to change filepath, via text.
