يا حبَّذا النحو من مطلب***كأن العلوم له عسكر
تعالى به قد طلابه***وقوف خضوع على بابه
نظم هذه المقدمة أبو عبد الله محمد بن محمد بن داود الصِّنهاجي ، المعروف بـ (ابن آجروم) ،يقول ابن الحاج : ‘‘ولد سنة اثنتين وسبعين وستمائة بمدينة فاس في السنة التي توفي فيها ابن مالك’’ . وبذلك جزم ابن العماد في [شذرات الذهب] ،‘‘توفي يوم الاثنين بعد الزوال لعشرة بقيت من صفر ، سنة ثلاث وعشرين وسبعمائة’’ . وبه قال الحلاوي وابن العماد وغيرهما ،قال السيوطي - رحمه الله - : ‘‘وصفه شرَّاح مقدمته كالمكودي والراعي وغيرهما ، بالإمامة في النحو والبركة والصلاح ، ويشهد بصلاحه عموم نفع المبتدئين بمقدمته’’ .
وقال ابن مكتوم عنه : ‘‘نحوي مقرئ ، وله معلومات من فرائض وحساب وأدب بارع ’’ ،كان له - رحمه الله - مصنفات أشار إليها ابن مكتوم في : [تذكرته] بقوله : ‘‘وله مصنفات وأُجيز في القراءات وغيرها ’’، والمعروف من كتبه كتابان : الأول : هو مقدمته النحوية . الثاني : هو فرائد المعاني في شرح حرز الأماني.
