Color Blind Pal helps people who are color blind see the colors around them. It also lets people with normal vision see what it's like to be color blind.
Want to know what color something is? Now you don't need to ask a friend - just open the Color Inspector to get a descriptive name, like "bold brown".
Want to see all colors more clearly? Use the Color Filter to shift colors that are hard to distinguish toward colors that you can easily distinguish. It'll be as easy for you to spot an orange pumpkin in a green field as it is for everyone else. Or, do you have normal color vision and want to know what someone who's color blind sees? The Color Filter can also simulate any type of color blindness. Open the preferences (with the ⓘ button) to select your color blindness type.
Press "Inspecting Color" or "Filtering Colors" to switch between the two modes.
Simply open the app and point your device's camera at what you want to see! If someone gives you a green form and a yellow form and asks you to fill out the green one, open the Color Inspector to tell which is which. If you're struggling to read a color-coded map, use the Color Filter to make the colors easy to distinguish.
With Color Blind Pal, you can do the following and much more:
* Find out exactly what any color is
* Read any color-coded map, chart, or graph
* Pass a color vision test (it turns out there really are numbers in those dots!)
Color Blind Pal is packed with powerful features to make sure you never need anyone else's help seeing colors.
Additional features in the Color Inspector include:
* Choose between different types of names for a color, including Common names, Scientific names, and Colloquial names (like "beige")
* See the color's hue, saturation, and value, as well as its exact RGB color code
* Freeze the camera and inspect different colors across the image
Additional features in the Color Filter include:
* Highlight a selected color
* Select a color by pressing it on the screen or by dragging the color spectrum slider
* Draw a stripe pattern over all reddish colors so you can tell what color everything is without changing the colors
* Freeze the camera and experiment with different filters to get an exact sense of what the image really looks like
* Hide all the buttons on the screen so your device becomes a portal through which you see the world in richer color
Don't be held back by color blindness ever again - get Color Blind Pal today!

Very good! Finding out the correct color with the camera works perfectly. I would like to be able to determine colors from pics on file, from a screenshot, or from the browser. Its a shame the developer has not updated since Mar-2017.

This is fabulous for a color blind user like me! It makes it easy to identify basic colors, but also possible to highlight colors you're interested in in cool ways. Some advanced features are tricky to understand, but worth it! For those pointing out that the color names aren't always intuitive, note that color perception is an incredibly complex topic, and our eyes and brains are always adjusting to the surroundings with our own notion of white balance, which an app can't possibly reproduce.

I really appreciate this app because I have a chromatopsia. The only thing that I would improve is the size of the font. If you could make it at least twice as large that would be a great help. Actually four times the size will be better for me, but I know that other people might not need huge print.

Very simple yet works amazingly well. Can match colors on the fly with impressive accuracy.

Cool app. I have protanopia (red deficiency), but when I choose that as the type I have and use the shift option, it doesn't help me much with the color blind test patterns...a little bit, if I really focused. However when I chose Tritanopia (blue) it really made it obvious. All in all, I think this is great.

Amazing app! I use it a lot when shopping for clothes and accessories. Now I don't have to avoid wearing or using certain colors that I have trouble identifying, or asking others to tell me what color things are. My sons have used this app for homework help when maps or graphs use hard to distinguish colors. I have recommended it to all of my colorblind relatives or friends. I did have a little bit of frustration while fine tuning the settings, but once I got it set up I was so happy with it.

It'd be great if there were a red-green colorblind option in the non-simulation color blind type. OR the ability to check more than one of the option types...it is a superd application for those of us who are colorblind. I can't stand the constant use of red and green to intricate on/off. It's stupid to even have a light when something is off...

Thank you so much for this utility. As someone with Deuteranomaly, I always struggle with knowing if my device is charged or charging. It is a small thing, but with LEDs everywhere now, most default to RGB, which makes it hard for me to parce and this tool makes it simple to perceive colors without having to see them.

all colors were skewed towards blue. obviously this app is very dependent on camera hardware of a phone and amvient lighting. not sure if it would be possible to calibrate it, ie teach it colors. looks likr a great app that would be a tremendous help to us color blind people

I enjoy practicing bushcraft. This is probably the most important app for identifying the colors of wild plants. It helps cut the amount of knowledge you have to retain, by simply identifying the color. Although it might not be the difference between life and death, it saves time which can be used completing other tasks.
