Description
Teen Patti, also known as "Three Cards" or "Flush," is a popular gambling card game that originated in India. It is similar to the British game of Three Card Brag. Here are the basic rules of Teen Patti:
Deck of Cards: Teen Patti is typically played with a standard 52-card deck without jokers. The game can be played by 3 to 6 players.
Card Rankings: The cards rank from highest to lowest as follows: Ace, King, Queen, Jack, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2.
Ante: Before the game begins, all players place an initial bet known as the "ante" into the pot in the center of the table.
Deal: The dealer distributes three cards face-down to each player in a clockwise direction.
Betting Rounds: Teen Patti consists of multiple betting rounds where players can place bets based on the strength of their cards or bluff to deceive opponents. The game typically includes the following betting options:
a. Chaal (Call): The player matches the current bet in the pot, indicating their intention to stay in the game.
b. Pack (Fold): The player decides to fold their hand and drop out of the current round. They forfeit any bets already placed.
c. Raise: The player increases the current bet, forcing the other players to match the new amount to stay in the game.
d. Side Show: This option is available during certain betting rounds. A player can request a side show with another player who has previously placed a bet. The two players compare their cards, and the player with the weaker hand must fold.
Showdown: After the final betting round, the remaining players reveal their cards. The player with the highest-ranking hand wins the pot. If two or more players have the same hand, the player with the highest individual card (kicker) wins. If the kicker is also the same, the pot is split among the tied players.
Hand Rankings: The hand rankings in Teen Patti, from highest to lowest, are as follows:
a. Trail/Trio/Three of a Kind: Three cards of the same rank. For example, three Kings.
b. Pure Sequence/Run/Straight Flush: Three consecutive cards of the same suit. For example, Ace, King, Queen of Spades.
c. Sequence/Normal Run/Straight: Three consecutive cards, not all of the same suit. For example, 8 of Hearts, 9 of Clubs, 10 of Diamonds.
d. Color/Flush: Three cards of the same suit, not in sequence. For example, 2, 5, Jack of Diamonds.
e. Pair: Two cards of the same rank, along with one unmatched card. For example, two 7s and a Queen.
f. High Card: When none of the above combinations are possible, the highest-ranking card in hand determines the winner.
Variation: Teen Patti has several variations that introduce additional rules and side bets, such as "Muflis" (reverse hand rankings) and "Blind" (players bet without seeing their cards).
