Barnyard Buddies

Learning can happen anywhere! In this episode of Charlie & Company, the “school zone” is a place where horses, cows, pigs, sheep, horses, and chickens live. It smells a little funny, too. That’s right! Charlie and Miss Ellie, your “Anywhere Teacher,” visit a working farm, where they will solve a “puzzle it out” question of the day. Charlie’s friend Oba the Bear is an excellent guide: “Say the letters with me,” he urges. Next Jazara or “Jaz” the Tiger joins in the fun. “I love using the alphabet to make words,” she says, “because words tell stories, and stories make life a lovely adventure.” Here is a pig. P + ig makes pig. Was that big pig going to dig? Nestor Fields builds vocabulary skills with “outstanding and quite cute” words associated with baby animals. After the puzzle comes together, sing along with Brian Vander Ark and Miss Ellie in a rhyming, rollicking, animal farm song that reinforces the lessons.
