UPDATE: LATEST FIRMWARE UPDATE ON TSR-7850 RECEIVER HAS CAUSED FOR THE APP TO NOT RECOGNIZE THE RECEIVER ANYMORE! IVE TRIED EVERYTHING TO SEE IF IT WOULD REMEDY THE ISSUE BUT NO LUCK 😤 So quick and easy to operate my AV receiver without having to scramble for the remote. I can control everything seamlessly from my phone from inputs, volume, DSP, setting adjustments, and so on. Love the app the way it is.

Great up until 1 year ago. We have had this app for years and LOVE the 2 channel option on this yamaha receiver (we have recommended it to a lot of our friends) BUT RECENTLY the app does not perform well with Spotify (only). When we change a song on Spotify, it changes ALL CHANNELS to Spotify which defeats the purpose of the 2 channels and angers kids inside trying to watch tv while adults have conversations outside. This problem needs to be fixed asap. It's not the receiver but the app 😭😭

Currently the best legacy AVR app. Not a replacement for Musicast app, but decent. I now own two Yamaha recievers; RX-A780 and the RX-A1080. The AV Controller app is rock solid with the revised firmware 7-6-2021. It allows multiple devices to connect and control the receiver at once. Most functions are a available though its user interface. It supports a wide range of their Wifi/Ethernet connected receivers. the inputs and sound modes screens are customizable. I only wish this app allowed the accessing of the YPAO data. They have captured a subset of the controls. All functions are working and stable since the latest firmware update, so I'm content.

Functional and super responsive, but is needing some overhauling. It's getting a little long in the tooth but has more in depth control than musiccast (which is still receiving updates).

This app was working fine until yesterday until it decided to not connect to my reciever anymore. I verified my reciever still gets internet access since Pandora still works on it. I also verified that Standby mode is set to on and both my phone and reciever are connected to my wifi. I have no idea why they decided to screw around with something that was working just fine. It's a shame Yamaha can't even design apps to work with their own products. Do they even TEST?

Would'nt play tracks continuously, stopping after certain songs and required manual input to continue. Would occasionally stop completely requiring amp being restarted Turns out it doesn't like FLAC, WAV, MP4, WMA and ACC. Use MP3 and all good. Always stops after initial track but after skipping to next it keeps shuffling tracks happily. Happy days.

Nice app, I use it daily. UPDATE: It used to be a great app and I had given it five stars but it stopped working. I tried everything to get it to start. I followed instructions, but it still does not work anymore so I changed my rating to a one. One is being generous for an app that does not work at all.

Like many other people here, this so stopped working for me recently. Turns out I needed to do a firmware update on my receiver. App now works perfectly again. To do a firmware update. 1) Hold STRAIGHT key and power on. 2) when ADVANCED SETUP appears let go of STRAIGHT. 3) Use the PROGRAM button to navigate to UPDATE NETWORK. 4) Use PROGRAM to find wifi option. 5) press INFO to start the update.

Used to be great before but now stops working 90% of the time ! Keeps not detecting my AVR despite it being connected via Ethernet. Yamaha also doesn't seem to acknowledge the problem and there is no update to fix this in sight.

A couple weeks ago the app would no longer allow me to play music with Pandora. I've Uninstalled and re-installed the app several times to no avail. Very disappointed. I would also like the ability to listen to other streaming music such as iHeart radio.
