Since Appmeter is an app for studying the audience of mobile apps and websites, the Virtual Private Network (VpnService) is used as the primary means of monitoring mobile app usage by research panel participants. Appmeter uses the Virtual Private Network (VpnService) as a local tunnel and does not send VPN traffic to the server. Metadata collected using VpnService is processed and analyzed directly on the study participant's device. Aggregated and anonymized app usage monitoring data does not contain any personal or confidential user data and is transmitted to the company's servers only in encrypted form.
