Since Appmeter is an application for researching the audience of mobile applications and websites, the application uses VpnService as the main means of monitoring the use of mobile applications by research panel participants. In this case, Appmeter uses VpnService as a local tunnel and does not send VPN traffic to the server. Processing and analysis of meta-data collected using VpnService is carried out directly on the research participant’s device. Aggregated and anonymized application usage monitoring data does not contain personal or confidential user data and is transmitted to the company’s servers only in encrypted form.
