Reviews From google play store

I've tried loads of podcast applications and this one takes the cake for me :) There are other decent alternatives, but none offered the user experience as this one. It is clutter-free, hassle-free and gives all that I'd ask from a podcast app - open the app and start listening to the latest podcasts with no tapping around. It does podcasting and podcasting only, so for those who are looking for a swiss-knife kind of app, which does any audio, this is not the kind of app that will suit them perfectly. And did I mention, it is free and also ad-free :) I believe that is also battery-friendly. Excellent job guys!

Seems good... But missing major feature. I am looking to move away from a once highly rated podcast app whose rating is plumiting. AntennaPod seems good. Like that there are no ads and that it is open source. Just wish it had one feature for my use case. The default playback seems designed for downloads then playback rather than streaming. I stream all of my podcasts, but to do so in this app you have to click the episode and then select streaming. Please allow streaming to be the default.

It works as well as any other podcast player with the differential that you can search podcasts by their description contents. The only problem I have with it is that sometimes if I pause my podcast and use my phone to do something else for a while then I'm not able to just play it again, the player opens blank like there was no podcast selected.

I love a lot about this app. It's nice amd simple, and does everything I need, with no bloat or ads. Still, I listened to a podcast and it kept skipping to an episode really far in, every time the episode I was on ended. It was really annoying, and spoiled tbe next arc. If that was fixed, it would be perfect.

I used this podcasting app with my old Moto g4, and it worked really great! I'm continuing to use it with my new Pixel XL, and I still really enjoy it and think it's a good app, however it seems slightly buggier with the Pixel. I'm still going to give it five stars though, because overall I've been very happy with this app.

Great way to listen to your podcasts! Did have some issues that have gone unfixed for a while. When paused for longer than a few seconds, it will drop the playback, requiring you to exit and reload the feed you were listening to. The persistent notification also has a tendency to disappear.

Feels like a constant work in progress which is not to say a bad thing you can tell the developers have the best of intentions and skills necessary create a first-rate app my experience has been excellent so far, a few bugs I have noted I've already been fixed. kKeep it up. I prefer this to Spotify without question. Highly reccomended. Does everything a podcasting app needs to, well.

Love it. Open Source and NO ads. Its the best I found to play many audio podcasts. It does have its idiosyncrasies. Go to Queue to delete partially listened episodes so you don't keep seeing/them. Hit the top refresh button in your subscribed podcast listing to ensure latest list. More updates? Wish for auto/car mode with huge buttons. Used Antennapod for years now and subscribed to a couple of hundred iTunes podcasts and a few RSS feeds. I usually stream and only download when not near wifi.

It keeps freezing up and not responding unless I force-close/kill the app from "app info," just closing the window or anything else doesn't make it start working again. This happens kind of a lot, usually multiple times in a row. Other than that, I wish you could make playlists and that it was easier/more straightforward to change the order of your queue. You should be able to drag an episode up and down the list, like you can in lots of other apps, vs "move to top" repeatedly.

I was looking for a podcast app after being severely disappointed with Google podcasts and other Android podcast apps. AntennaPod is the one you're looking for. One of the best features is the ability to set the forward button to skip X number of seconds instead of jumping to the next track. It works great in my car when I want to fast forward a bit, or rewind.

Open source, no ads, playback and quick rewind features are good, can browse podcasts on other platforms besides iTunes. On Nexus 6 crashed sometimes while reordering episodes in queue, 2-3 times deleted whole database, I use backup feature now. Improved mostly after an update. On Nexus 6 and Pixel 3 XL is a bug where, BBC Farming Today is the only example, new downloads erase the progress of other episodes whether already completed or in progress. Sometimes no problem. Cause or solution?

Please Please Please!..... Add a button to where we can listen to the old ones first, and they'd be at the top. I hate having to scroll all the way down to listen to the first episodes. Especially if the podcast has 1300+ episodes and I have to scroll down through all of them just to listen to the older ones. Please put the old ones on top and the new ones on the bottom.

Great until it's time to update feeds. Downloading, queueing and playing episodes works smoothly, the interface is straightforward and there's no ads. But everything grinds to a halt while updating feeds and you can't download existing episodes of any subscribed podcast while updating. Had to delete since all i have are a bunch of spinning blue wheels and grayed out episode lists while the app tries to update all the feeds. Ah well.

Lovely app. I hope they add an option to automatically attempt https first before downloading over http. Or perhaps attempt a fallback to https if http fails. Useful in cases where the ISP is blocking http because their transparent proxying and caching software crashed or is mis-configured.

Well organized app that lets me do what I want to do with my podcasts without the junk advertisement of others. UPDATE 4 MONTHS LATER: great app! I have had a stumble or 2 trying to figure best downloading setting, but i find its user error (my fault). I have never looked back.... Its fantastic!!

What a fantastic podcast app! I've tried the rest but have settled on this one as it has been created the most intuitively! If you want to just download podcasts and listen to them then this is for you! Other apps are overly complicated, have deeply nested complicated configurations.

Excellent queue management options. Clean, well readable interface. All the settings options I could ever think of are present. I have tried several podcasting apps before finding AntennaPod and none of them were as competent as AntennaPod.

Really solid podcast app. I use Stitcher as my primary and then use this app for private feeds (i.e. where I pay a subscription or have Patreon). But this app has a MUCH better layout and is easier to use then Stitcher and I may switch. Honestly zero complaints from me.

This is a wonderful podcast app. The simple, clean interface is a pleasure to use and everything is logically laid out. Works reliably and does everything you need. Comparable in all respects to the major paid-for podcast apps but this is open-source and free. People should for sure install and support this!

I have searched for ages to find a good podcast app. Now I found a great one. All the functionalities that I need. The interface is intuitive, no ads, open source, and fast.

this app has an odd behavior randomly forgetting something has been downloaded and marking it available to download again instead of play. It doesn't do it enough to make me export my subscriptions but it is still anoying. the effect is i will be away from wi-fi and can't listen to something because the choice is stream or download not play. i end up listening to another show but it is anoying.

Absolutely love the minimalist design. It's low resource, doesn't throw ads at you, and the swipe to podcast list is nice. Only complaint is that it puts you back at the top of the list of podcasts when you hit the back button out if the info page of an episode.

Open Source, No Ads, Clear, good app. But it has a small issue here. Sometimes, the player just stop to play my podcast with unknown reason, and i have to reopen the app to resume it.

This is just great! I did notice some minor problems from time to time, and the interface is not hyper modern, but honestly I don't care. It's free software, and it's the best podcast manager I've ever seen on any platform. If you ever decide to port it to Linux, I will contribute.

This is the best podcast application I've found. Download management is super easy, and they are always trying to direct you to sponsored podcasts. Highly recommended!

Love this App. I've tried a bunch of podcast apps, but with AntennaPod I get what I want easily and quickly. It works and works very well.

Kind of annoying that the name of the podcast is not shown beside the episode title in the new section. I hope this is something that will be implemented in the future. Otherwise a good app.

Easy to use, simple and user friendly UI and most of all, absence of unnecessary function and ads that makes app heavy and slow. Very happy to use and recommend to others

I had a bunch of issues with Google Podcasts, like some Podcasts not being available, duplicated entries, being forced to share info with Google just so I could subscribe to Podcasts, etc... AntennaPod is a breath of fresh air. Great work!

The app will not download episodes for offline use anymore. Once it worked ok but now It just shows all the episodes downloaded but only shows 2 buttons when you click on it saying cancel download or stream. Sd card has plenty of space but the app is stuck endlessly canceling download but not canceling or able to retry.

I've been trying out a few players. .. then I found this ... no crashes no ads no issues ... easy to use; fast efficient searching; great playback (love the skip silence feature); beautifully organised. Delighted to recommend this App.

It would be 5 if I didnt have issues with it freezing on me . Or the fact that I have had to put my rss link 3 times bc it wouldnt refresh new episodes. When I have to do that I no longer have my "listened " to episodes. Nor my favourites. Sounds trivial. But its aggravating

As advertised, a simple no frills podcast player. No ads is a huge plus! Connects to major podcast databases and the search function works well. Haven't had any problem accessing or listening to podcasts. Great app.

Good podcast app! Switched from PodKicker, and am happy with AntennaPod so far. No ads, uninvasive, doesn't ask for a bunch of creepy permissions, and functions well even on low end devices. Definitely would recommend.

Easy to find podcasts with multiple search engines. But I have difficulties getting the automatic downloads to work, having tested the app on several phones.

Great. No ads. Clear, not burdened by too many Bella and whistles. Would prefer either more suggested podcasts or no suggestions at all. Or vary the suggestions more?

Great app. I've been using it for years. In the last few weeks I've noticed that when I'm scrolling through a list of episodes and I click on one to read the description, when I go back to the list, it always jumps back to the top instead of where I was. Very annoying if you're a ways down the list. It never used to do that. Hope it can be fixed soon. Otherwise I love it.

I just wanted a basic podcast app to retreive and play podcasts period. I did not want fancy dancy. I checked out many of the names you all know and hear about. AntennaPod everything I was looking for and added a few features I did not know I "needed." Turns out some of the sorting features are truley "handy." Still in the learning & experimenting phase and very much like the fact it does what it says. Ease of use - 5 stars. Good job Dev's.

AntennaPod does a great job of managing podcasts and playback. There are a few ways that the interface is unintuitive and klunky. For example the phone back button does not behave in the expected and consistent way. It turns out that the back button behaviour is configurable in the settings, but none of the options are what I'd consider intuitive behavior. Also, the overall interface becomes much more intuitive when you have multiple podcasts subscribed and many episodes downloaded.

One of the most complete solutions out there, but still maintaining an elegant interface with just the right amount of visual density. Unique features, like independent volume control and podcast password protection. Good stuff like silence trim, custom folders, offline on device show notes for all episodes, seek jump options, parallel downloads management, proxy and a ridiculous amount of sorting and filtering options. Missing delayed deletion archival options and EQ access. But it's free free.

Works perfectly for what I need. Interface is nice and simple, and tools for finding podcasts are great.

Just used the app for a few days, but so far it works well. Chose it because it's open source so less chance of malware.

Downloads duplicate items constantly. This is a known bug. Listed in their issues tracker. No updates on this bug for months. Terribly inconvenient. Two stars instead of one because it is open source, and free.

Decent app, takes a min to load up the audio and sporadically stops for no reason, but does the job for the most part. When it's working 100%, it's on point.

I've only just started using it, but so far it has NONE of the tens of bugs podbean and castbox had. The design also seems to be better, though I know that takes time to assess. Plus, it's open source, which means I can submit a patch if I find a bug! Really excited to use AntennaPod for a long time — and fork it myself if it goes downhill!

It's a bit all over the place regarding downloads and the sorting options leave a lot to be desired - but it looks very promising and I switched to it because I think it will exceed the rest in the near future.

Great podcast player, in my opinion much better than a lot of the paid for options, really nice simple uncluttered interface, highly recommended podcast player, can't fault it!

I have been on the hunt for a good podcast player for months now, and AntennaPod has put an end to that search. Thank you to all the developers for making such a great app!

Great app. I was a Podcast Addict heavy user up to using AntennaPod. Since I:be switched to Antenna, I'm in love with it! Great app, great features. It simply makes Googlepodcast eat dust!

Just a great App to listen to Podcasts from a lot of sources. I like close to every aspect of it, especially the well thought out sleep timer and how it presents episodes.

Podcasts done right. Simple, effective, excellent. I've used Google's podcast app as well as play music for podcasts; and Antenna Pod is the most consistent for my listening needs. Keep up the great work!

Perfect replacement for podcast deluxe, which is sadly now defunct, and google podcasts, which doesnt work for me since the fallout between google/tune in and the BBC. Pity i didnt find this first 😀

Great app. I chose specifically because I could directly manage RSS feeds, rather than searching for podcasts like on Spotify or Google podcasts and having no way to export or import my favourites.

To default subscribe episode view is very nice and the app can be able to see chapter which has each episodes while playing. If you're an Apple podcast user on iOS, you may have to install this.

No-nonsense app. Search is a bit limited and dometimes you have to go find a feed URL yourself to add a podcast, so it's maybe not for everyone, but if that's the price to pay for a podcast app without in-your-face recommendations and spyware I'm cool with it.

Use to use pocketcast for years, when they sold the company they ruined the app. Scouted around tried for or five podcatchers, all coming up short. AntennaPod is my go to for podcasts now. It is a very good app. Has all the features I like and need. Try it, you'll like it!

Only using it for an RSS feed, since Big G's native apps for podcasts don't support that feature. However, it is a simple interface without ads or nags.

Does everything you need, works well, and isn't cluttered with ads or other garbage. If only all software were like this.

Best podcast player out there. Keeps everything organized. Able to adjust playback speed.

The app can have stability issues, but open source and the overall set of features make this the best app. Github community provides great support for issues too.

I have had no issues with this app it had found the podcasts I search for and shows new episodes. Best podcast app I've used.

I like the simple, clean interface and appreciate the lack of ads.

Great application. All of the features without a bunch of complication and clutter.

Excellent app for searching for and listening to your favorite podcast. Neat and clean interface and no ads. Go open source!!!

Love the Dark theme & love the consistency (no white menus popping up). And the fact that I can set the jump back & jump forward to my desired length of time is perfect. The only app, of many I tried, that has both these features. Unfortunately antenna pod mysteriously changes its settings. I stream my podcasts to save space, without warning podcasts settings change to download, podcasts have no icons & support inquiries are ignored.

Works pretty well - simple, easy to use, manageable, non overwhelming interface. Generally fast download speed. Has trouble skipping to different parts of the podcast when streaming and occasionally the download bar gets to end without actually downloading the podcast.

It just works. The UI was not so intuitive for me, but after a sort while it's ok.

Keep pausing and I have to hit play again. Every few minutes. Not a internet speed problem. Getting 100mps and up. Uninstalling

Great design and usability for a free app, but only 4 stars because it freezes quite a bit on my Galaxy s9+

Simple easy to use interface. For those of us who don't need 100 menu driven features that take months to figure out.

Best open source app for listening to podcast, without worries of privacy and no need of opening an account.

A truly phenomenal podcast app. If you're looking for something to manage your morning drives, here it is!

Good way to download podcasts onto an android phone. The presentation of downloads could be better organised - presented by feed for example.

Good app but some features missing like play next 3 episodes. Navigation a little clunky. Hard to do things quick.

I like this app just fine. Coming from PocketCasts (especially the old version) the UI is not as clean and easy to navigate but it's easy enough to get used to. It's also free so that's a huge plus.

Simple to use, accepts any type of podcast feed and best of all: open source and free.

It's good for queue management but if you type in an invalid feed address you'll get daily failure notifications with no way to cancel it

Never had any problems with it. Works as expected and it's open source.

Works great and has all the features I need except creating of playlists, it would be great to have those. It would be also good to have an option for a sound notification when all podcasts finish downloading (I would even pay for pro version to have this)

Great and functional free app with no ads. Some minor crashes here and there but still the only podcast app I use.

Top features, all needs met, refined clean interface, stable and reliable. Seek no further, this is the podcast app to go for.

Awesome app!! It works great, has a clean, focused UI, no ads, and every feature I looked for :) Also it's open source! The dev reallyyyy deserve cred for this, I tested a few and it's still my favorite

I love this player! It is perfect in its minimalism. Thanks so... much!

Quick, easy to use and slick minimalist interface. Love it!!

Good app, does what it needs to do without any bloat which is exactly what I've been looking for.

"Does what it says on the tin". No unnecessary eye candy, just works

Not really using this app since it displays size instead of duration in overview and I need to know the time it takes to listen to episodes without hassle. Both is available in details so why not make it a setting if you like size for some reason? Thanks for the app otherwise!

Great place for my favourite podcasts. Can we have a play list where i can add and remove when ever I want? The 'queue' is restrictive.

Good and robust. Would be improved with a playlist or automatic 'play next' facility.

Great open source app! Suggestion: different playback speed can be set for each podcast.

Amazing podcast app, I just copied some rss feed address and it just worked without hassle. Also I ♥️ Open source software.

If you are looking for a simple pocast player that does not overload you with ads and show recommendations this one is perfect. It is visually clean and simple to use.

My first podcast app. Nice experience. Would love bigger image size and ability to play local files.

I want to love this app, and when it works it's great but it closes for no apparent reason too frequently

Some and lite, but it would be nice to play the podcast by sort order. For example oldest to newest.

Very functional but not intuitive. Outdated UI. Outdated themeing.

It has a place to add an rss feed, but the search built into the app doesn't list some popular podcasts that have also been banned from major platforms. I won't use an app that censors .

I've tried MANY Android podcast aggregators. This is, by far, the best I've seen!

bestpodcast app that lets you easily access the mp3 files if you want to save a particular podcast episode externally . also this app doesn't seem to do spying on whatever you are listening to.

So far my favorite podcast app, love that it has no ads. Though downloading can be a pain if you don't have a consistent internet connection.
