Did you ever felt, that one Charger/USB cable set charges your device really fast and the other not? Now, you can prove this with Ampere.

Measure the charging and discharging current of your battery.

PRO features:

- Widgets

- Notification

- Alerts on device

- Alerts on Android Wear

The app works on Android 4.0.3+ devices. Not every device is supported because there are devices which lacks an appropriate measurement chip (or the interface) and they can not be supported at all. Please read the list of not supported phones at the end of the description.

The app is not meant to be mA accurate. It is only good for evaluate which Charger/USB cable combo is working the best for you on the same device.

----

Please read also the FAQ: http://goo.gl/R8XgXX

----

Start the app and wait ca. 10 seconds ("measuring" is on the display). After this time, the charging or discharging current will be shown.

The current depends on many things:

- Charger (USB/AC/Wireless)

- USB cable

- Phone type

- Current tasks running

- Display brightness

- WiFi state

- GPS state

Please don't use the readings on this app as concrete science. However, the readings are good enough to relatively measure how various chargers and USB cables fair on the same device.

If the app shows 0mA all the time, please use the settings option "Old measurement method". You can force the app with it to use the old measurement interface, if the Lollipop device has at least one.

Unfortunately some Samsung devices don't give correct (measured) values (e.g.: S5), just the maximum possible charging current with the actual USB cable/charger configuration. This is a firmware problem.

----

Background info: The app measures the charging/discharging current of the battery. If your phone is not connected to a charger, you see the discharging current which is negative. If you connect a charger then the current what the charger gives will be used to supply your phone and the remaining power will be charged into the battery.

If your phone consumes 300 mA without a charger connected (-300mA on the display), then a 500 mA charger will charge your battery maximum with 200 mA current (200mA on display).

----

Technical info: The displayed current is an average value from 50 measurements minus the 10 upper values and the 10 lower values. The displayed current can be shaky or unstable or even zero which means, that the Android system provides unstable values. Every company uses different battery types and other hardware making it difficult to get accurate results about your charger.

----

LiPo batteries don't draw the maximum for the full time it takes to charge the phone. If your battery is charged almost full then the charging current will be much less as by lower battery levels.

Phones/ROMS compatible only with "Old measurement method" switched on and selected the right "Measurement interface":

➤ HTC One M7 / M8

➤ LG G3

Phones/ROMS reported to be not working with this app:

➤ Galaxy Grand Prime - fortuna3gdtv

➤ Galaxy Note2 - t03g, t03gchn, t03gchnduos, t03gcmcc, t03gctc, t03gcuduos

➤ Galaxy S3 - d2att, d2spr, d2vmu

➤ Galaxy Tab4 7.0 - degas3g

➤ HTC Desire 510 - htc_a11ul8x26

➤ HTC One S (ville), X (endeavoru), XL (evita)

➤ HTC Sensation 4G - pyramid

Please do not give wrong rating, if your phone is one of the above. Not the app is wrong, but your phone does not support this kind of measurement yet.

If the app doesn't work on your device with pre-Lollipop Android version, then please read the first and the second posts in this XDA developer forum thread: http://goo.gl/pZqJg8 . Please post your problem with screenshots in the XDA thread.

Reviews From google play store

I paid for the ad-free experience and I love it when it works. But I have one single problem and that is when I turn off Wi-Fi or data it disables my ad-free experience. The work around that I found is to log back onto the internet to hit the key to re-enable my ad-free experience. I enjoy having alerts like temperature of my device, when to use a charger, or when to disconnect my phone from charging. I love being able to change the value of each of these. This issue is on all my devices.

Just a fantastic app all-around!I'm not trying to say that this application is revolutionary or groundbreaking, but it definitely produces what he claims to in it's description. if you're looking for an application that will measure accurately the amount of amperage, wattage, and or other electrical usage statistics. This application is not clocked out by bloatware and or the millions of ads that other apps of a similar base.

It's critical for your day 2 day. We are paying a premium feature as fast charge, turbo charge or whatever. This app is the only thing that keeps you in check of the health of your battery, and how well is being charged. I have ditched so many semi broken cables because they don't fit the standards I expect for my phone. Totally worth giving the paid version to the developer.

This app is awesome. I've literally used it for years across a variety of phones to monitor charging rates of various chargers and to monitor battery health and temperature. I hate writing app reviews, but want to give the author the credit they deserve for such a clean, well-done, free app.

Ampere is by far the best app on Android for monitoring both the charging and discharging currents of your device's battery. With a compartmentalized, intuitive UI and a highly accurate measurement protocol, Ampere is simply the best. In addition, the dev provides regular, needed updates with bug fixes, optimizations, crucial API changes, and the most current Google libraries. Thanks dev...outstanding work...I'd give 10 stars if possible.

Average compared to similar apps. Compared side by side with a similar 'accu'rate battery app on my Note 9 and 8. Ampere stops working and needs to be force closed often. Even more so with snap window & split screen. Not as accurate and doesn't refresh as fast when compared. . But it does its job and works more than it needs force closing so I gave it 3 stars. Bonus review- Lazy people who only rate apps either 5 or 1 star lack critical thinking and have been coddled. ;)

I really like it i never comment om program reviews however this is the one and only program i consistantly use and the only one i recomend . the only aspect is the way it jumps it doesnt reveal solid measurments imediatly and the ones it gives adjust on there own howevever i am very confident that the yes anoying and yes not straight out numbers imediartly is what you get is ehat its doing. Ok do you like this example you get your blood presurure taken its varies thats the acurste facts than

Good App to view voltage, current, and device temperature at a glance (I like the widgets in particular). Helped me in optimizing themes or see changes in semi-realtime for extending battery life; This app lets you see indirectly what apps or settings significantly affect the device battery drain. I guess the app gives me a clue as to when something is wrong, or if device is under high load.

Extremely efficient app, has helped me a lot when I had a charging problem, I was able to check the input and how much charge was coming in, also witch cable I should use and that works best, thanks so much to the developers!

Simply does what it's supposed to do. Can't really determine how accurate the readings are, but numbers do seem to reflect charging time needed. Ads are not in your face.

This app is good. One additional feature I want is to plot a graph of current vs time, voltage and temperature. It will be extremely useful in determining how device is charging.

I got the ad free version; wonderful interface, hopefully it will eventually give us mere mortals the ability to put these numbers into perspective without having to resort to Google.

Clear and concise information on battery status, voltage, charging / discharging current, temperature, etc... presented in a clear and easy to follow format.

Useful tool for measuring whether your charger, wall outlet or anything of the sort is not working properly. Shows plenty of info for you to see what's up.

Works pretty much as described! All in all, it's good. I just needed it to check the Amperage output on the power supplies 4my fone, so it's cool...appears to be accurate!

This app is awesome if you ever want to check exactly how fast your phone is charging and you want to check the status of your charger or cords this app is awesome. And best of all it's 100% free unlike on the iPhone.

Simple app that shows live amperage and voltage of charger setup allowing you to test and decide best or worst charge block and cord combinations to use. I am currently using the strongest block and cord for fast, solid charging.

My USB port is flakey and this app shows when I have a good connection. It's also great for comparing chargers. It would be great at twice the price.

Good app, pro version is very cheap. I'd like to know more about battery health. What does "good" mean and what are the values above and below?

Fantastic app for testing the quality of your charging Source. I use it regularly. And have been for years.

It is very good app shows how much power go to the battery, and it can shows you if your charger work in full power. And it can show you the power consumption of your phone .

Kept measuring if flowing current again and again. No history of of how it's been doing in past few minutes. No data of charging data. Uninstalled.

Simple app showing just the relevant information and not any excessive bloat. Little downside is that the app can't measure charging power when screen is off. This would be really necessary feature.

Great to be able to check cords and chargers. Not sure what it is doing while running in the background.

A very good app that easily allows you to assess how well a particular charger works with your device.

Great and easy to use ap. It will really help your phone in the long run.

I have a samsung note 9 with 9v charger but this app reports charging at 4.2v ... with the 9v charger and the same when I switch to a 5v USB charger. I don't think it's correct. Still it's a good app for monitoring battery.

Great app! Very detailed, free, and easy to use and understand

Helped me diagnose a power problem: changing charging blocks seems to have helped, and Ampere helped me figure that out.

Good app for checking the output of chargers to find the highest charging rate. Good for checking the discharge current of the phone to indicate excess discharge.

Superb app. Very helpful to ascertain whether charger, cable or charging port is culprit for slow charging.

Helped me figure out which of the ports in my dual port brick was the fast charging one so I could label it since the manufacturers didn't think that was relevant information to include on the brick. -_-

Great app 👌 measure your battery and charger. Measure your cable strength and much more....try it!

Good app for me. Has enabled me to compare different charge cables and chargers I have accumulated over time as well as giving me the main info.

Ampere gives a very efficient gauge of the status of the power source of the phone.

Im not sure how accurate this is. But it definitely gives you an idea if the charger works properly.

helped out a lot with my old phone. wasn't taking charge properly despite saying it was. ampere helped debunk that and prove more was going t out than in. saved me many days of no way to call or text during work.

Very useful. Simple, single task, but it helped a lot.

Great apps for checking out the flowing current from a charging device.

Has ads, but nothing that pops up and blocks your view. I can actually see the charging rate on my turbo charger.

Great. Replaced AccuBattery I like the minimal design perfect for me. Displays charge current accurately

Nice app. Gives useful info to find it why sometimes your phone barely charges are good of being plugged in.

Love this app. Use it to test power chargers for low amps rates.

This App is good...It helps me for see the charging speed and also the discharging speed also...

All the useless cables thrown away after checking their performance with Ampere, the application provides what it says, liked it

Shows (dis)charge rate in milliamperes. Invaluable for quickly detecting charging problems.

Thanks, it helped me diagnose my phone charging slowly. Wish I could do more than rating 5/5

Does exactly what it says it does. No intrusive adds in the non pro version.

Very useful for measuring discharging, supplied electricity.

Now I can check and keep fast charging cables with me after checking with this app.

Nice and accurate application to check the charge your phone is getting.

Not all USB cables are good quality. Ampere helps to sort this out.

Super helpful and real time monitoring to help define quality of a charger

Love this app. Great for checking old cables I have laying around.

usefull app. you can test your phone's battery and charger.

Very good app for checking how much current is your phone getting while charge

Shows mAh and voltage and many more information. I like it...

Great app, but wish there was trouble shooting.

APP is not showing the charge rate and the max USB curr. with dash charge.

Works well, but not accurate enough... thx dev, plz fix the accurate.. it will be great..

Very handy app for checking how fast my phone is charging.

If your Android device doesn't charge at 2500 mA to 3200 mA to 80% it has likely been hacked

Does more than I expected I had slow charging issue with my K5 Note surprisingly now phone chargeing faster .

EverytimeWhen my device charge slowly I check from this app and I became sure that this is the time for change my cable .

Very good.. not many ads and it works well..

Very easy to use! Provides very useful information.

doesnt show amperage on Samsung Chromebook. only shows % battery and voltage (8v). Not much of value with this app.

works well, but it doesn't refresh too often

Nice app, it's very useful for testing your charger

Very good for measuring my new adapter for wireless charging,

So far.., the best charging indicator app I ever install in my cell phone.. good job guys..Thanks.

Excellent tool for checking your charger and cables

Helps on checking which cables are good and which are fake

Its dope It has helped me in owning good chargers, nw am having the fastest chargers.. Woow Thank you, the Developer

A useful tool detecting good and bad USB charging cords

it works. i can choose which one the charger phone have fastest charging

Thanks This app helped me to understand which wire has low quality)

Helped me troubleshoot fast charge problems. Great..

Clear screen that lets me see charging stats easily.

Good app to test out if car charger does fast charge

Lack the abiity to log the current in charging period

App shows 10mA charging current while using Samsung 45w charger on Galaxy note 10+

Useful app - some indication of charging rate

Very useful app to test battery health.

Very safely and properly and the outdoors and the outdoors and the Gjjggh

Work as stated. Good app to choose charger & cable.

Fantastic app that shows everything you would excpect and more.

-50-90 ampere on Android car audio device isit ok???!

The app used to work fine it can accurately determine if i was using a 2 amp charger vs the 0.5 amp usb port on a pc, but recently the readings have been wonky. Almost always, the reading would not go above 0.810 amps, even when i was using a 2 amp charger. The charge rate was still the same. I would sometimes get a reading close to the actual amperage but would then go back down to 0.810 amps.

This app is simple and straight to the point - exactly as it should be. It helps me get a good idea of which charging cables and chargers are working and when there is a problem. My phone (Essential PH-1) has a reputation for having issues with chargers and charging, often discharging while plugged in. I use this app almost every day to check and make sure my charger is working correctly before I miss it and my phone dies.

Amazingly simple to use, this app displays and monitors the current of your phone. Negative number when in use, and (hopefully) positive when charging. Perfect app to test chargers and USB charging cables. No fancy graphs or history, no monitoring of apps, it just deals with the display and monitoring of the current - and that's a good thing. Pro version offers some extra features and is ad-free.

Extremely useful when one has a "faulty" or "worn" connection from charging cord to phone or appliance. With this app you can see the charging rate in mA as well as Volta and temperature readings. I find it very helpful in determining the best "positioning" of my power cord once connected to my phone. Highly recommend app! One that actually does what is was intended to do!.

Great! So accurate amp meter.

It's good app for comparison bitwin a good charger and a bad one 👆

A good app for charge analysis.

Does the job perfectly, comparing output of different chargers

Helpful app used when setting up a Wifi extender... recommended ®️

Low stars because: 1) I know it's called Ampere, but with quick charge changes over the past few years it really needs to show charge voltage too. 2) can't measure charge rate when screen is off or even have the apps settings open, what's the point of having min and max stat values if its only while screen on, most phones charge faster when screen is off, so this app is useless. 3) some of the adds have been really annoying.

Light weight app that does exactly what it says it does (measuring, reporting, & charting) of your charging and discharging amperage. I've used it over 25 times now to determine speeds of all my different chargers and the NUMEROUS charging cables I have and discarded all my slow or nonworking ones.

I forgot why I had installed it (app name is not self-explanatory) and was taken back by the ad disclaimer. Once I figured it out, I liked it. This is one app where showing ads is very beneficial (to them), as this app is on/displayed all the time
