Reviews From google play store

Brilliant feature. It was actually a major selling point for me before I got this device. Would love more Clock faces though. Ability to customize the second hand on Analog faces (tick or automatic). More analog faces please, the current ones aren't particularly easy to read. gets 4 stars for now until improvements are made.

I have this app on my Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note8 & it's the 1st time I've ever had an AOD!! I LOOOVE IT!! It's an awesome app!! No more waking my phone up just to see if I have missed calls/messages & etc!! With the Pie Software update I had to turn it back on & reset it to my liking & stuff because it vanished & just wasn't there but all I had to do was go thru my settings & I was done!! I only wish I could make it brighter whenever I want!! Thanks in advance!!

this is not an app for the end user. read everything about this app and you my fellow users will also see that this spying app can "adjust the [whatever] without turning on the display" Now why would I ever navigate within my phone without using the display? My opinion should be obvious. App is used without turning on the display because the on display would alert the user that functions are being performed, data is being collected, mic is on, pic/video being taken.check quick display, see AOD on

it's good but lacking customization. they only offer custom designs for clocks and pictures but won't allow us to make our own customize sizes for clocks or calendar. if i want to add a clock with calendar, that already comes with it but i want to make the clock look bigger in the calendar like it was with GS7 Edge before Android 8 Oreo. i want to manually design my own AOD by adding stuff and adjusting size. there is only what is offered from Samsung app store which is cool but i want my own.

After updating to Android 9 Pie, my S8 AOD always gets disabled after screen locks. I enable it, and after the display fades and locks, it gets automatically disabled again. AOD never had problems before and for me was a clear plus comparing to Huawei. Pls solve this bug. Update: Factory reset solved it.

Always On Display isn't always on. I made sure it was blue highlighted. It's still off. Also I wish I could rate system updates too. The navigation bar, to make it disappear you gotta go to display settings> navigation bar> select full screen gestures & then finally switch off gesture hints hiding that navigation bar for good. It just isn't intuitive enough. Honestly the navigation bar having that dot selecting whether to lock it or not worked. Edit: AOD isn't intuitive also. It's on now.

just installed new update on note 8 today and display does not show at all. it says it's on, but yet no display. update does not allow the change setting per battery performance mode. changed to worse performance to essentially turn everything on. always on display still does not show. highly frustrating.

Upgraded to Pie & this just disappeared. All the settings appear to be correct but no always on display. UPDATE... it seems the default setting for 'always on display' is now OFF!!! yes I've now got the ALWAYS ON DISPLAY back on but I'm unimpressed & speechless!

Disappointing. Did not fix the 'always on' clock on the lock screen of my Galaxy Note 8. Still in the same position to the left hand of the display since the last system update. Also it is not always on as it goes blank after a short period.

Most recent update doesn't work with my S9+. It doesnt allow the actual AOD to work and it wlos down my phone when pressing the power button. It also won't allow the fingerprint scanner to unlock my phone. Rolled back the update and everything works fine. I'd like to mention this might be a problem woth One UI. Overall disappointed with Samsung currently.

adds great function to the phone. would love if custom widgets could be added not just calendar and clock. a great example of this is for navigation. just the basics like what Google maps has in the notification draw. would be fantastic when you are low on power/driving/want to be subtle.

It's nice to have quick access and know if I've missed anything with just a glance. I do wish the AOD was brighter. I'm not sure if this app controls the AOD in dark places like my pocket. It would be nice if it didn't go dark because I often keep it in a dark place when I'm not using it and when I pull it out to check, the screen is blank. That kind of defeats the AOD's purpose. Let me know if I have missed a way to avoid this problem (for me it is one).

if its called always on shouldnt it always be on. since last update it now goes off even with it selected to always be on. yes i know about the new menu but it still does not stay on. please fix it do it does what suppose to do and stays "always on" i use a galaxy s8+.

Just got the upgrade for Andriod 9.0 and no matter what I try in my settings my clock is NEVER on display. PLEASE FIX. Yes, I see that was plainly noted in the app description. I changed the setting. Still no NEVER on display. Wish I could give no stars!

April 3 update!! so far it's pure BS. Timeclock completely moved to the left corner of screen. And now i cant even tell the time on my LOCKSCREEN! It's currently on "ALWAYS DISPLAY" & still NOTHING SHOWS!!! please fix this ugly update.

App worked well until Pie update on Note 8. Now it is pretty useless. Too dim and the colors do nothing. Tap to display is the only option that works. If I wanted to touch my phone to see notifications, I may as well unlock it. The purpose of the app should be not to have to touch the phone to see notification. You need to take a couple steps back. Disappointed. I appreciate the reply but you are missing the point here. The app does not work when you change the setting to always on.

Great concept, but not being able to adjust the brightness sucks. I'm using a note8, and have tried multiple things to try and make the aod brighter, but nothing works. It's so dark that it serves no purpose. Please add some sort of brightness adjustment feature.

Taking back my review after reading a previous recent review. The new tap feature threw me off. I had no notifications or hints that it was changed this way from the update.

This app is useless. I've had this phone for almost a year & now this app updates (I have enabled it) & will not shut off. it is always popping up & it is not needed.

Perfect! Noticed a lot of people are concerned about needing it to be brighter, that can be done. While AOD is being displayed double tap the screen then then brightness (sun) icon shows up with an "A" on it. Tap the icon then the brightness slider appears and you can increase the lighting Also note AOD has 2 modes: By default tap screen while it is off to display for 30 seconds to save power and can be changed to constantly displaying in settings ~ Helping Tips Galaxy Note 9 ~ Android 9 (Pie)

no longer stays on when charging and turns off after a few minutes. used to work until last update. needs to be fixed. I have changed it to Display Always. and even tried to set it to a schedule but it does not stay on during the scheduled times or when set to Display Always.

Android Pie update crashed my Samsung Galaxy S8! Nothing works now. Phone won't ring, I can't answer the phone, it goes immediately to voicemail. Can't make a call. Missed very important calls.

With the ability to pick between so many clocks, and with so many great AOD themes to choose from, as well as using your own custom image, I think this is the ultimate ambient display out of any Android phone I've seen. The ability to turn it off when the Clear View cover is on is genius, and I'm glad it's finally here in Android 9.

Several weeks ago, out of the blue, my Galaxy S9 started dimming the display instead of turning it off after the 15 second time out. I just now figured out it was this Always-on Display app that was causing the problem. I found this feature in Settings and enabled and disabled it, even restarting the phone but there was no change. I had to uninstall this app to fix it. I then reinstalled it and found it was still working. What a waste of bloody time!

Keeps blinking in the way it tries to adjust the brightness! So annoying! Also it goes off in the dark during the time range to stay on, this is a joke!

just did the Pie upgrade on my Note 8 now the AOD does not work and yes all the settings are correct, way to fail yet again Samsung.

My rating is based on the last update. Everything is pretty much messed up. White theme, "always on display" no longer showing, messaging background option no longer available, call box no longer picking the caller's voice. In fact, I'm so pissed off right now. A phone that I've been enjoying all along is suddenly throwing me off. Update 4.15.2019 Following the response/directions from the Samsung Team, my AlwaysOnDisplay now shows as it should. Thanks.

Sadly the latest update removed contact info from the always on display. It's on the lock screen but disappears too quickly. Put it back on the always on! Thank you.

Please bring back the "Contact information" on the AOD. We have it on the lock screen, but we want it on the AOD as well. Everything was working flawlessly on the Android 8, and I don't understand why have you removed it. Phone: Samsung Galaxy Note 9, Android 9, One UI.

Phone just did an update and the always on display won't stay on continuously like it's set to do. I even tried setting it for a specific time range and that won't work either. Please fix this error.

The fix worked, but it shouldn't be buried so far deep in the settings to change the AOD from Tap to Always On. Perhaps the default would be better served as Always On instead?

It's disappointing. you have to touch the screen to see the time and notification. the old version was much better!!!

Same issues as others since last update. My settings are correct, yet no "always on display". I'm not happy.

Doesn't seem to work quite right... dosen't show when I click (new S10). Also, should have an option for "always show when charging"

I can't control the color. Never knew a color made me physically sick but it's the 1st thing I see. Lost personal info with last update. Somehow was updating before I knew it

I miss the old default vertical clock that the S8 and S9 had before the pie update removed it (the one with the cool font on the clock only). please bring this back in the form of goodlock, or even built in to AOD in the next update.

I love always on display but after the update to Pie it is now ruined. I figured out my settings and put them back the way I had them, but the always on display lighting that I had set up to show when I'm playing my music is no longer there. I need that option back please and thank you!!

The Always on Display is great but it's not wake up my screen on WhatsApp notifications which is very disappointing. On my Galaxy A50.

Was perfect until Pie. After the Pie update, the notifications on the AOD screen are individually colored. Why? They should be the same color as the clock, like they were on Oreo. Please give us the option to change the notification icons to match the clock color like they used to.

I had used this app every day but now Samsung has cheated me out of $160 and I will never use this again. This app is trash, delete. This need serious improvment. its basicslly useless unless you unlock the phone to see the message preview.
