ADJECTIVE (Kata Sifat)

A. Pengertian

Adjective adalah kata yang menggambarkan sifat dari kata benda (noun). Adjective biasanya diletakkan sebelum noun. Kadang-kadang juga setelah noun atau ditengah kalimat.

B. Adjective Endings (Akhiran dari Kata Sifat) 

Adjective mempunya akhiran yang berbeda-beda.

Adjective yang berakhiran -less adalah lawan kata dari Adjective yang berakhiran -ful.

Contoh:
  • careful – careless
  • useful – useless
  • colorful – colorless
  • harmful – harmless

Akhiran -ful berarti mempunyai banyak hal.
Contoh:

  • painful = having a lot of pain
  • hopeful = having a lot of hope

 

Akhiran -less berarti tanpa.
Contoh:

  • leafless = without leaves
  • sleeveless = without sleeves

Contoh:

a caring nurse
an interesting book
loving parents
matching clothes
a smiling face

  • a costly diamond ring

  • a lonely boy

  • Adjectives describe the color of things.
    • Contoh: The sea is blue.
